  • SUMMARY.The article provides an overview of the incidence of fungal infections as opportunistic diseases in HIV / AIDS. One of the important factors in the growth of fungal infection and the aggravation of the course of diseases caused by it is secondary immunodeficiency caused by HIV, the resistance of the skin layer and the effect of fungal infection on the immune system. Therefore, studying fungal infections in patients with HIV / AIDS, in particular identifying the types of fungi that cause fungal infections and determining their sensitivity to antifungal drugs, can significantly reduce the mortality of these patients from generalized fungal infection.

  • The features of the course and treatment of purulent-inflammatory diseases of the soft tissues of the head and neck against the background of diabetes mellitus have been studied. It has been established that purulent-inflammatory diseases of the soft tissues of the head and neck occur with the aggravation of the underlying pathology. The results of complex treatment with the use of plant-derived proteolytic enzyme cucumazim, ultrasonic cavitation and autotransfusions of ultraviolet irradiated blood were evaluated. It was found that the chosen integrated approach accelerates the time of wound cleansing from necrotic masses by 3.4 ± 0.4 days, promotes dilution and removal of purulent contents, activates regeneration processes, reduces the time of complete wound healing by 5.6 ± 0.8 days. After the combined use of the proteolytic enzyme cucumazim with ultrasonic cavitation and autotransfusion of irradiated blood with ultraviolet light in the treatment of purulent-inflammatory diseases of the soft tissues of the head and neck, complications or side effects were not observed.

  • We have studied the effect of the severity of thermal trauma on the character of changes in the parame-ters of the coagulation system of blood in 55 patients aged 17 to 70 years in the period of burn shock. During the shock period, the study was conducted in three comparative groups of victims with varying degrees of se-verity of burn injury. The first group consisted of 15 patients with the Frank index up to 30, the second group consisted of 20 patients with the Frank index from 30 to 60 and the third group comprised 20 victims with a Franc index of more than 61. Burn shock, especially severe, causes significant disorders in the blood coagula-tion system . The state of hypercoagulability observed in the victims in the period of burn shock, require appro-priate correction for the prevention of thromboembolic complications

  • Thermal burn is a severe form of injury, causing structural and functional disorders in numerous body systems. Because of the complexity of the process and the involvement of several body systems, it is impossible to analyze this state by in vitro experiments. Over the past two decades, a number of experimental burn models have been developed. The review examines the healing of wounds in animals with burn injury, the advantages and disadvantages of these models for rational use. The paper considers three main types of animals used for modeling burn wounds.

  • Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is one of the most severe systemic diseases of the connective tissue, more common at the age of 20-40 years, about 90% of cases are women [1;2]. Over the past decades, there has been an increase in the incidence of SLE (50-250 cases per 100 thousand population), which is due to the improvement of diagnostic methods, the identification of latent and chronic forms, and in some cases, overdiagnosis. The diagnostic criteria of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) (1982, 1997) were developed for epidemiological studies and do not always allow one to exclude or confirm the diagnosis of SLE with absolute probability, especially in the early stages and in atypical variants of the disease [3;4] . When studying the medical records of one of the major medical institutions, J. Calyo et al. [5] found that among patients with a diagnosis of SLE, only two-thirds met the criteria for ACR, while about 10% had signs of lupus that were not sufficient to verify a reliable diagnosis, and 25% had a picture of fibromyalgia in combination with positive antinuclear antibodies (ANA), while even with long-term follow-up, no evolution of the disease into reliable SLE was noted. The question of improving the criteria for diagnosing SLE, “chameleon disease”, or “great disease simulator” has been repeatedly raised [6]. In 2012, a group of experts from Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics (SLICC) presented the results of a long-term analysis of a large number of case histories (about 700 patients) with SLE and proposed modified diagnostic criteria for the diagnosis, expanded by introducing a number of dermatological , neurological signs with more accurate indicators [7;8].

  • The work was carried out examination and treatment of 30 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). All patients underwent synchronous intensive therapy (SIT), which included a three-fold plasmapheresis (PF) with removal of 40-60 ml of plasma per kg of patient weight at intervals of 4-5 days. After each PF intra-venously over 45 minutes was administered 1.0 MP, and after the second - more added 1.0 cyclophosphamide. The dose of oral prednisolone should not exceed 40 mg / day. In the second phase was introduced on a monthly basis only 1.0 cyclophosphamide. Significantly decreased the frequency of erythema in the form of "butterfly", stomatitis, cheilitis enantemy and lupus, edema syndrome. Completely regressed pulmonary process, fever, lymphadenopathy, stabilized body weight, less defined polyserositis, arthritis
