Abstract:
Mythological genesis plays an important role in understanding cultural
peculiarities and historical narratives in societies. Mythological creativity and stories and
personalities of origin not only serve as the basis for many religious and cultural practices, but
also provide insight into the social, psychological, and philosophical foundations of different
civilizations. This article examines the application and significance of mythological genesis in
various fields, including literature, art, religion, and philosophy. In addition, she explores the
impact of these myths on modern society and how they continue to shape worldview and identity.
Through this research, the study illuminates the eternal significance of mythological genesis in
the preservation and understanding of human heritage.

Introduction
Stories of mythological genesis or origins found in various mythological traditions have
long been a subject of deep interest and study. These basic tales about creation and the birth of
gods, humans, and the universe often allow us to understand the worldview of ancient cultures.
These legends are not just stories; they express symbolic truths and symbols that interpret
societies' attitudes toward the world, divinity, and their history.
The significance of mythological genesis extends beyond ancient traditions and continues to
influence modern thought and culture. In the myths of the creation of different cultures, stories
from the origin of the universe to the formation of human societies are deeply embedded in
religious practices, social customs, and collective memory. Whether it's the creation story in the
Bible, Prometheus in Greek mythology, or Enuma Elish in Mesopotamia, these narratives have
transcended time, shaping the uniqueness of entire civilizations. Moreover, mythological genesis
influences modern literature, art, and philosophy, ensuring symbolic meaning and cultural
continuity.
The application of mythological genesis is very wide. It is studied in modern scientific fields
such as anthropology, comparative religion, and psychology. It is also found in modern media,
where the themes of creation, destruction, and divinity remain very relevant. Past events
continue to resonate in the general consciousness of societies today, strengthening cultural values
and shaping societal structures. This article aims to explore how the concept of mythological
genesis is applied in various contexts, its significance for cultural understanding, and its
relevance in contemporary interpretations.
Cultural and religious significance:
Myths about creation often played a central role in the formation of religious beliefs. The
creation of the world, gods, and early humans are usually associated with key themes such as
order, disorder, morality, and divine intervention. For example, in many local cultures, the myth
of the creation of the world is closely connected with the people's understanding of their
relationship to the earth, divinity, and the cosmos. These myths of origin define social structures,
define transitional rituals, and provide moral guidance for the people.
In the Christian tradition, the biblical story of Genesis serves as the basis for theological
discussions about man's relationship with God, the creation of the world, and the nature of good
and evil. Similarly, in ancient Greece, the myth of Prometheus, who created man and gave him
fire, also discusses the themes of divine mercy, rebellion, and the pursuit of knowledge. These
creation stories are not just beginnings; they provide a foundation for understanding human
existence and the moral order of the universe.

Mythology in literature and art:
The influence of mythological genesis can also be found in literature and art. From ancient epics
like "Iliad" and "Odyssey" to modern novels, mythological themes of creation, destruction, and
human destiny have inspired writers and artists. The concept of genesis or origin is studied in a
symbolic sense, since authors include mythological constructs in their works to express opinions
about the experience of humanity, the problems of society, and the unknown future.
In art, the myths of the creation of different cultures inspired paintings, sculptures, and
performances. These images often strive to capture the moment of creation itself, depicting
divinity, primitive forces, or the emergence of the first humans from chaos or nothingness. These
works are not only the myths themselves, but also a reflection of the cultures that created them,
preserving for future generations their understanding of the world and divinity
.
Mythological genesis and modern society:
The influence of mythological genesis is far from fading in the modern world. On the contrary,
these stories frequently appear in new forms of media and entertainment and remain relevant.
Movies, television shows, and video games often address the themes of creation and destruction,
reflecting the constant interest in the narrative of genesis. For example, the epic "Star Wars" is
based on a deep mythological plot, in which the heroes, villains, and divine figures repeat the
mythical structures of gods, demigods, and people found in ancient mythologies.
Psychologically, mythological genesis also plays a role in the formation of the identity of the
individual and society. According to Carl Jung's theory of the collective unconscious, myths are
embedded in humanity's collective memory, and creation myths are among the most powerful
symbols that people continue to use in understanding and seeking meaning. These myths not
only define cultural values, but also provide psychological archetypes that shape how a person
sees themselves in relation to society, nature, and the universe.
Moreover, mythology often gives a sense of continuity and stability. During periods of societal
change, individuals and groups can turn to ancient myths for consolation, guidance, and self-
realization. The cycle of creation and destruction, as well as the promise of renewal, instills
confidence that life will continue even after chaos. In modern conditions, the repetition of these
mythological themes in literature, art, and mass media serves to reconnect a person with their
cultural past, providing both a sense of heritage and a source of strength.
Use in psychological and sociocultural contexts:
Mythological genesis also plays an important role in psychological and socio-cultural
development. Legends shape a person's understanding of the world, since they explain the
unknown and answer the following main questions: How did the world begin? Why is there
suffering? What is the meaning of life? In these stories, human fears, desires, and hopes are
symbolically expressed, creating an opportunity for self-awareness and cultural continuity.
For example, Joseph Campbell's concept of "The Hero's Journey" emphasizes the archetypal
pattern found in many myths of creation and origin, emphasizing the experiences of universal
change, struggle, and self-awareness. By studying mythological genesis in this way, a person can
gain a deeper understanding of collective narratives that influence their personal narratives and
worldview.
Conclusion
The significance of mythological genesis is not limited to the origin of individual stories or
cultures. It serves as the main structure that shapes cultural identity, religious beliefs, and artistic
expressions. Whether through ancient creation myths or their modern reinterpretations, these
stories continue to provide insights into human nature and the world around us. The application
of mythological genesis in modern contexts - from literature and art to psychological and
sociocultural structures - demonstrates the constant power of these narratives for informing,
educating, and inspiring.
As we continue to struggle with existential issues, societal changes, and the complexities of our
modern world, creation myths provide valuable insights into the processes of life, death, and
rebirth. By understanding and applying the principles of mythological genesis, we can gain a
