Abstract.

This study examines the important role of solid practical experience

in developing essential teaching skills among university philology students, preparing
them for a successful career as language and literature teachers. The study examines
the impact of practical experience on various aspects of teaching competence,
including lesson planning, classroom management, effective communication,
assessment strategies and the ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning
needs. It also analyzes the impact of practical experience on students' self-confidence,
self-efficacy and overall readiness for the teaching profession. They can solve
problems they encounter during practical experience and make recommendations for
overcoming them. They can find solutions to the difficulties and problems they

This study examines the important role of solid practical experience in

developing essential teaching skills among university philology students, preparing
them for a successful career as language and Practicum, as the foundation of teacher
education, is of particular importance for university philology programs. While
theoretical knowledge of language, literature, and pedagogy is important, the ability
to effectively translate this knowledge into engaging and impactful classroom
teaching is also essential. This article examines the role of practicum in improving
the teaching skills of university philology teams, drawing on existing research and
best practices to identify evidence-based strategies to optimize its effectiveness.

University philology programs are often steeped in rich traditions of literary

analysis, linguistic theory, and cultural studies. However, the true test of a philology
student's understanding comes not only from their ability to master these concepts,
but also from their ability to translate them into engaging and effective instruction for

a diverse range of learners. Here, practice emerges as a critical, often transformative
experience.

To maximize the impact of the internship, careful attention should be paid to its

design and implementation. Clear goals and objectives: The internship should have
clearly defined goals and objectives that are consistent with the overall teacher
education curriculum. Structured supervision: Students should receive regular
supervision and feedback from university faculty and mentor teachers. Meaningful
classroom experiences: Students should be given opportunities to teach a variety of
lessons, work with diverse student groups, and participate in all aspects of classroom
life. Opportunities for reflection: The internship should provide students with
structured opportunities to reflect on their learning experiences and identify areas for
development. A well- structured internship helps develop important teaching skills.
Lesson Planning: Students learn to develop engaging and effective lesson plans that
align with curriculum standards and meet the diverse needs of students.

Classroom Management: The internship provides opportunities to develop

strategies for creating a positive and effective learning environment, managing
student behavior, and fostering a sense of community. Assessment: Students gain
experience in developing and implementing a variety of assessment methods,
analyzing student work, and using assessment data to inform instruction.
Communication: The internship enhances communication skills that enable students
to effectively explain complex concepts, provide clear instructions, and engage
students in meaningful discussions. Practicum experience is a critical component of
any teacher education program. However, how teachers are integrated into
classrooms can be structured in many ways and is influenced by many factors.
Structurally, universities must take into account school schedules and student course
offerings. The most

important thing is to ensure that teachers have the experience and support that

best prepares them to teach in the classroom.

Not all practices are created equal. Truly effective practice goes beyond simply

placing students in a classroom. It involves several key elements:

Strategic Placement: Matching students not only with qualified teachers, but

also with mentor teachers who are passionate about philology and committed to
supporting new teachers.

Structured Observation: Providing opportunities for students to observe a variety

of teaching styles and classroom management practices.

Progressive Responsibility: Allowing students to gradually take on more

responsibility for lesson planning, teaching, and assessment.

Meaningful Feedback: Offering regular, specific, actionable, and growth-

oriented constructive feedback.

Dedicated Reflection Time: Encouraging students to reflect on their experiences,

analyze their strengths and weaknesses, and develop strategies for improvement

Internships provide a high-quality learning experience for students. Internships

are an integral part of philology teacher education, providing teachers with the
practical experience, mentoring, and reflective opportunities necessary for success in
the classroom. By carefully designing and implementing effective internship
programs, universities can ensure that philology graduates are well-prepared to instill
a love of language and literature in future generations.

Internships are an essential component of teacher education, providing early

childhood teachers with the opportunity to develop and refine the skills and
knowledge they need to succeed in the classroom.

By implementing evidence-based strategies and addressing practice- related

challenges, universities can ensure that their philology graduates are well prepared to
meet the demands of the 21st century classroom and to instill a love of language and
literature in future generations. Further research is essential to continue to refine and
optimize internship experiences, ensuring that they remain a powerful tool for
developing effective and engaging philology teachers.
