Abstract:

This article discusses methods for increasing students’ interest during

English lessons. It highlights effective ways to engage students in language learning
through interactive methods, games, group activities, and modern technologies.

Keywords:

English language, student engagement, interactive methods, lesson

effectiveness, interest, innovative approach.

Today, learning English has become globally important. The main goal of teaching

English is not only to explain grammar rules but also to spark students’ interest in the
language and help them maintain it. Without interest, the learning process becomes
passive. Therefore, engaging students actively in English lessons is essential.

1. Using Interactive Methods
Interactive teaching methods increase student involvement in the learning process.

For example, techniques like “Question and Answer,” “Role Play,” and “Task-based
Communication” allow students to practice the language in real situations. These methods
turn students from passive listeners into active participants.

2. Learning Through Games

Incorporating games into English lessons boosts student motivation and enthusiasm.

Especially in primary grades, games such as “Memory Game,” “Word Search,” “Bingo,”
and using flashcards make learning enjoyable and effective. Games help reinforce
vocabulary and grammar in a playful way.

3. Utilizing Multimedia and Information Technologies
Modern technologies make lessons more engaging and interactive. Using video

lessons, online quizzes, animations, and interactive presentations helps students absorb
information visually and audibly. This greatly increases their interest in the subject.

4. Connecting with Real-Life Situations
Creating real-life scenarios in class (e.g., shopping in a store, asking for directions,

ordering in a restaurant) helps students see the practical value of learning English. This
forms a conscious motivation and purpose for language learning.

5. Encouragement and Creating a Comfortable Environment
Acknowledging students’ small achievements and encouraging them builds their self-

confidence. When the teacher listens to each student’s opinion and promotes open
communication, language learning becomes natural and enjoyable.

Conclusion:The effectiveness of English lessons largely depends on students’

interest. By using interactive methods, educational games, multimedia tools, and student-
centered approaches, teachers can make English lessons more dynamic and engaging.
Every teacher should explore and apply various methods suitable to their students’ age and
interests to enhance language acquisition.
