Learning languages takes years and occurs in various situations. A person who

to another will not experience difficulties communicating in languages different
from their native one.

Knowing and mastering several languages equally well, common today and
is not a problem. This trend is particularly popular in rapidly growing cities where
the population is characterized by cultural and ethnic diversity and where language
barriers are absent. In such cities, knowing more than one languages has become

the norm.
Currently, you can see children speaking two or more languages on the
streets of cities. A child learns to speak their native language from an early age.
Often, parents help with this. So how does learning a second language happen? If
a parent does not speak another language at all, how positively or negatively does
it affect the child's language development?
“Although starting a language in early grades has many advantages, we
cannot rely on an early start alone to increase the levels of English language
proficiency of our students, nor even the selection of an appropriate program
model”. [1; 7]
Knowing two languages undoubtedly has a positive impact on a child's social
development, for example, when peers speak a different language, it helps them
feel more confident and adapt to the language environment of native speakers.
Listening to fairy tales in a foreign language, a mother reading novels of foreign
authors, and familiarizing with the culture of foreign countries through fairy
tales—all of these enhances the child's intellectual potential. In short, bilingualism
broadens the horizons of the world knowledge.
Of course, we should not forget that learning a native language can be
difficult for a child at first. Children studying in a non-native language community
adapt not only to the educational environment but also to the language spoken by
others. It takes a child some time to learn to express their thoughts freely in another
language. Parents can play a very important role in this crucial stage by supporting
and providing direct assistance to the child in successfully mastering language
skills and the parallel educational program.
For example, reading bedtime stories by parents to their children can help
them learn a language. It is especially beneficial for parents to read stories in a
foreign language to their children if they know the foreign language. Of course, it
would be nice if every parent dedicated a bedtime story to their child. Reading
bedtime stories develops a child's imagination, hearing, speech, and worldview,

and also expands their vocabulary and helps them learn languages. For instance, if
a mother reads a story to her child in their native language on the first day, reads
the same story using foreign words the next day, and then reads it completely in
the foreign language the day after, the child will have an additional opportunity to
better understand the speech in a foreign language. With the help of children's
stories, it becomes much easier for the child to absorb new words and language in
general. After all, fairy tales are funny, engaging, and concise. They are often
written in a language that children understand.
Listening to a story in a foreign language, a child not only acquires
knowledge of that language but also learns a lot about the culture of another
country. Children love fairy tales so much that if they really enjoy them, they will
happily listen to the same story several times. Over time, children can recall
individual words and phrases from that story. This makes it easier for them to learn
a new language. In conclusion, it should be said that it is very beneficial when a
child knows and speaks multiple languages. Knowledge of a language will open
up more opportunities for them, boost their self-esteem, etc., but their future
success will depend on how they embrace this knowledge and what emotions they
experience during the learning process.
Thus, there are different ways of learning a language but, as it was mentioned
in the article, it would be better to start doing it from the childhood and one of the
beneficial ways to begin with, is to read fairy tales in a foreign language.
