Annotasiya

Introduction:
IELTS Speaking Part 2, also known as the “long turn,” requires the test-taker to
speak for 1–2 minutes on a given topic. Analyzing responses in this section involves
understanding how well the candidate addresses both the main question and its sub-
points. Effective analysis strategies help improve coherence, fluency, and vocabulary.

Main Body:

Understanding the Structure:
The cue card usually includes one main question and three to four sub-questions.
Candidates must cover both the central topic and all listed bullet points for a full
response.
Strategy 1: Identify the Main Idea and Sub-Points

Quickly underline or mentally note the keywords in the cue card.
Make short notes during the 1-minute preparation time.
Use linking words (e.g., first of all, also, another thing, finally) to organize ideas
clearly.
Strategy 2: Analyze Coherence and Fluency

Check if the response flows logically.
Are there pauses or repetition? Is the answer easy to follow?
Practice speaking with a timer to build fluency.
Strategy 3: Vocabulary and Grammar Analysis

Is the vocabulary appropriate and varied?
Are there complex sentence structures? Are tenses used correctly?
Strategy 4: Relevance and Detail

Does the speaker stay on topic?
Are the examples and explanations related to the question?
Does the speaker answer all parts or leave anything out?

Conclusion:

Analyzing IELTS Speaking Part 2 responses requires a focus on structure,

language use, fluency, and content relevance. By applying these strategies, learners can
better understand their strengths and weaknesses, leading to more confident and
complete answers in the exam.
