Ways to faster develop listening skills

Abstract

"Listen" is one of the skills that is required in the study of any language, including English. Each person is individual in his own way: and not everyone will fit the same way. But in this article, I will share with you a few strategies that will suit, if not most, trainees to improve listening in different places. One of the important points for improving your skills is to find a place where it is easiest for you to do it.

"Listen" is one of the skills that is required in the study of any language, including

English.

Each person is individual in his own way: and not everyone will fit the same way. But in

this article, I will share with you a few strategies that will suit, if not most, trainees to

improve listening in different places.

One of the important points for improving your skills is to find a place where it is easiest

for you to do it.

There are 3 main types of situations:

1.

"Alone" means "on your own", so this suggests learning the language in your spare

time. You can use this option if you are easily distracted by others in the classroom or

prefer to study in places that are convenient for you, such as on the train, at home, or in

the park.

2.

In the classroom: there will be other students and teachers in the classroom and they

will meet regularly. This might be for you if you like to debate with other students, feel

uncomfortable being alone with a teacher.

3.Individualnye occupations - these are classes with a teacher one on one or in another

way with an interlocutor. You may prefer these types of lessons if you are shy or if you

find it easier to ask questions to a teacher or other person in private.

Try the above ways to improve your listening skills and see which works best for you.

After choosing the conditions for improving skills, use the following tips:

1.

Learn little by little.

Have only a few minutes a day to study? Perfect.

I recently discovered that this learning method, which takes 15-20 minutes a day instead

of several hours in one sitting, has a name: microlearning.

To put it simply, microlearning is breaking down your task into very small tasks that can

be completed in about 5 minutes.

You can divide your task the way you want that each individual task should last no more

than 5 minutes.

There is a great deal of scientific research showing that studying for 15-30 minutes every

day is much better than trying to memorize a bunch of new words and grammar rules in

one day.

2.

Listen in on a conversation in the target language.

Let's take English for example. If you live somewhere where English is spoken, set aside

a day to "hunt" for a conversation in English. At first, you will not understand the

essence of the conversation, as you will start listening in the middle of the conversation.

This will make it even more difficult to understand, but also more fun.

This will help you understand how to actually use vocabulary words, grammar concepts

and even commonly used slang, as well as learn new words.

3.

"White noise". The third tip is called "White Noise". It's some sort of sound, usually

not interrupted, that keeps playing in the background while you're doing something else.

For example, if you turn on the radio while you are washing the dishes, this music is

your "White Noise" When we are learning a language, white noise can be used to our

advantage.

Play an English podcast, audiobook, or series in the background while you clean your

house or do any other chores around the house. Don't pay too much attention to the

sound, just let it play and go about your business.

The truth is that the brain reacts to everything that happens in the background and this

white noise that "only fills the silence" actually makes you think - the work of the

brain.And last:

4.

Read and listen at the same time.

Another way to improve your listening skills is to use two sources of information at the

same time.

The easiest way to do this is to watch an English video with English subtitles.

Another way to learn English from two sources is audiobooks. I think it's clear here.In

the end, I would like to remind you, whether you learn best in a group, one- on-one with

a teacher or at home, on your own, practice listening to English in a way that is more

convenient for you.

The above tips will help you improve even faster than before. But the result depends on

your efforts and desires!
