Abstract

This article explores reduplication in English and Uzbek languages, delving into linguistic economy and iconicity. Cultural nuances emerge in Uzbek reduplication, reflecting national, social, and ethnic characteristics. Ethno-culturally specific reduplicatives in English are noted, alongside their potential inappropriate connotations. The article extends to reduplication in literature, folklore, and children's games, showcasing unique patterns in both languages. Finally, the comparative analysis in anthroponymy highlights varied purposes of reduplicated names in Uzbek and English cultures.
