SPECIFIC ASPECTS OF THE FORMATION OF TOLERANCE IDEAS THROUGH
MUSIC IN THE MINDS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
Boltayev Bakhtiyor Rustamovich
Associate Professor (PhD) of the Department
of "Music Education" of the
Uzbek-Finnish Pedagogical Institute
Abstract:
Music has consistently been a means of expressing social and cultural
values throughout human history. It is important not only as an art form, but also as
a tool that enriches the spiritual and emotional world of a person, uniting various
thoughts and views in society. Especially in the minds of elementary school students,
it is necessary that the formation of ideas of tolerance through music becomes an
important part of the educational process. Tolerance, which is a respect for the
opinion, culture and lifestyle of others, is one of the basic principles for ensuring
peace and harmony among people. In this context, teaching these values through
music plays an important role in the emotional and social development of students.

In the process of forming tolerance through music in the minds of elementary
school students, it is necessary first of all to take into account the emotional
experiences of children. Music evokes the emotions of children, helps to express them
and, through it, makes it possible to establish empathy with others. For example, by
listening to musical works of different nationalities and cultures, children receive
information about the customs, values of other peoples and learn to appreciate them.
This expands the worldview in them and stimulates the development of friendly
relations with others. When forming tolerance through music, it is important to take
into account the age characteristics of students. Elementary students are still in the

process of realizing themselves and others, and are very open to the formation of
emotional and social skills. Therefore, through interactive techniques such as musical
activities, singing, dancing and creating stories through music, they learn mutual
respect and tolerance. Teachers should organize music lessons in such a way that this
process, along with the development of children's creative abilities, encourages them
to cooperate with others.[1]
It is important to emphasize cultural diversity in shaping tolerance ideas through
music. The study of traditional songs, musical works and dances of different
nationalities in classes increases the respect for cultures in children. This teaches
them to be free from stereotypes and accept others. It is also through music that
children learn to value their cultures as well, enhancing their sense of self-esteem. As
a result, they will be willing to build equal relationships with others. The use of
interactive techniques in music education makes the process of forming tolerance
step by step effective. For example, songs, musical games, and dialogues performed
in a group improve relationships among children, teaching them to respect each
other. In addition, giving a brief overview of different cultures in musical training,
introducing them to their musical traditions will expand the circle of knowledge of
students and enrich them with their worldview. The role of parents and society in the
formation of tolerance through music is also great. Parents can strengthen children's
attitude towards tolerance by listening to music of different nationalities, celebrating
cultural holidays, even at home with children. And in society, it is necessary that
cultural events, concerts and musical festivals are open to children, introducing them
to the musical riches of different cultures. This helps children to expand their
worldview and understand others.[2]
In the process of forming tolerance through music, it is necessary to take into
account the individual characteristics of students. Each child has their own level of
emotional and social development, and their attitude towards music also differs.

Therefore, the teacher should try to personalize musical training, taking into account
the interests and needs of each student. This helps children to express themselves
freely, cooperate with others and strengthen their attitude towards tolerance. The
use of technology in the formation of tolerance through music also gives effective
results. With the help of modern multimedia tools, it is possible to explore the musical
cultures of different nationalities, increase the interest of children through videos,
interactive games and animations. These methods make the learning process more
interesting and impressive, serve to strengthen the ideas of tolerance in the minds of
children. It is also important to educate students in the spirit of mutual respect and
friendship in the formation of tolerance through music. In musical activities, children
acquire the skills of performing together, listening and respecting each other's
opinion. This develops their social skills and helps ensure peace and harmony in the
community.[3]
Music plays a very important role in a person's life. It is not only a source of
pleasure, but also a powerful tool that enriches the inner world of a person, evokes
emotions and forms social skills. Music is of particular importance in the development
of empathy and a sense of respect in children. Empathy is the ability to understand,
empathize with the feelings of others, forming the foundation of social relationships.
Respect, on the other hand, is the basis of human relations, and the appreciation of
the opinions of others means the consideration of their rights. Through music, it is
possible to form these two important qualities in children, since music evokes
emotions, facilitates the exchange of ideas and helps to understand cultural diversity.
Music serves as a mirror of different cultures. Each nation has its own musical
traditions through which it is possible to understand the historical, social and cultural
characteristics of that people. Children learn to better understand their way of life,
values and emotional world by listening to the music of different peoples. For
example, Rhythmic Songs of African tribes or traditional Japanese musical works allow

children to understand cultures that are different from their own. This process serves
the development of empathy, as the child learns to understand the feelings of others
and treat them with respect. Through music, the skills to accept and respect cultural
diversity are formed, which strengthens social tolerance. [4]
Musical stories and songs allow children to imagine events in the lives of others.
Many songs tell the story of human feelings, loves, friendships, affections, hardships,
and triumphs. Through music, the child learns to realize the lives of people outside of
him, to empathize with their feelings. For example, a song that expresses the pain of
the hero encourages the child to enter his state and feel his feelings. This contributes
to the development of empathy. Also, through musical storytelling, children explore
themes such as social problems, justice, peace and friendship, which increase their
social awareness and increase respect for others. Musical activities in the group
develop cooperation and respect in children. In the process of singing, dancing or
playing musical games together, children learn to listen to each other's opinion, to
maintain harmony. This process is important in the formation of social skills. For
example, participation in an ensemble or choral community teaches the child to
understand their role, support others, and teamwork. Values such as respectful
treatment of each other's emotions, appreciation of the opinion of others are
strengthened in this way. This further develops children's feelings of empathy and
respect, raising them as socially responsible individuals. In musical training, it is very
important to allow children to express their feelings. Through music, the child learns
to express his inner world, his feelings. This process increases the child's self-
confidence and makes it easier to deal with others. Children, for example, understand
themselves better by expressing their feelings in the form of poetry or song, and
provide opportunities for others to reveal themselves as well. This serves to form
empathy and respect, as the child is also open to the feelings of others and learns to
appreciate them.[5]

Conclusion:
In conclusion, the formation of ideas of tolerance through music in the minds of
elementary school students is important in the emotional, social and cultural
development of students. Music provides ample opportunities not only as a means of
art, but also as a means of fostering respect, tolerance and friendship among human
beings. Given the age characteristics of Primary School students, it is possible to
effectively formulate tolerance ideas in their minds by applying musical educational
techniques based on interactive and cultural diversity. Thus, a solid foundation is laid
for building a society based on peace and harmony in the future generation.
Tolerance, brought up through music, serves the social success of children not only in
school, but throughout their lives.
