Teacher, Department of Elementary Education Methodology, CHDPU
Abstract:
This article analyzes the importance, purpose, and effective ways of fostering a
communication culture among students during elementary education. Communication culture is
not only about correctly using verbal and written speech, but also encompasses essential social
competencies such as respect, active listening, and the ability to express opinions civilly. The
study examines the opportunities to gradually develop communication culture through subjects
like native language, reading, life skills, and moral education within elementary school lessons.
It emphasizes that interactive methods, small group work, role-playing, and discussion-based
tasks contribute to students' social and personal development. The article also includes practical
recommendations and sample lesson plans, serving as methodological support for teachers.

In today's era of globalization and open communication, it is essential for every
individual to find their place in society, engage in social relationships, and effectively exchange
ideas. These skills must be cultivated from childhood, starting with elementary education.
Communication culture encompasses not only correct and literary speech but also essential
social competencies such as active listening, respect, consideration for others' opinions, and
positive interaction.
Elementary education plays a crucial role in this process, as it is during this stage that
students begin to develop their linguistic and ethical foundations. This article highlights the role
of elementary school lessons in fostering a communication culture and explores effective
methods in this regard.
Communication Culture in Elementary School: Concept and Necessity
Communication culture is more than just grammatically correct speech. It includes the
following aspects:
- Relevance in communication: Expressing ideas that are relevant to the topic.
- Expressing one's opinion clearly and politely.
- Actively listening to others.
- R-espectfully offering objections or asking questions.
- Working in groups and participating in discussions.
Elementary school students are naturally active, curious, but not yet linguistically and
ethically mature. Therefore, teachers should rely on methods that encourage communication,
teach respectful attitudes, and gradually instill a culture of listening and expressing opinions
during lessons.
Methods that Can Be Applied in the Lesson Process
The following methods are considered effective for fostering a communication culture in
elementary school lessons:

1. Role-Playing: Students are divided into roles based on a specific scenario and engage in
relevant communication. For example, scenarios such as "Argument with a Friend,"
"Conversation in a Store," or "Reader and Librarian" allow students to learn social roles and
proper communication techniques.
2. Debate and Opinion Exchange: Students are divided into two groups to defend a topic. This
fosters the skills of justifying opinions, understanding the perspectives of others, and offering
constructive criticism.
3. Question-and-Answer Techniques: Through this method, students ask each other questions,
listen to the answers, and summarize. This enhances the culture of active listening.
4. Group Work: By completing tasks in small groups and presenting the summarized results to
the class, students acquire skills in working collaboratively, respecting each other, and taking
turns speaking.
Forming communication culture in primary school students is not only the task of language
lessons but also a common goal of all subjects, especially moral education, life skills, music,
visual arts, and extracurricular activities. Communication culture should be conveyed in
harmony with the values of Uzbek society and instilled in a manner that aligns with the national
mentality.
The teacher is the most important figure who demonstrates cultured communication through
their personal example. Every lesson is not only a source of knowledge but also a platform for
cultivating polite interaction, healthy thinking, and moral values.
