INTRODUCTION
In the process of development of musical art, jazz and
pop music occupy a special place. Jazz, with its rich and
complex
harmony
system,
dynamic
rhythmic
structures and improvisational approach, had a great
influence on pop music performance. In particular,
piano playing played an important connecting role
between these two musical directions and made it
possible to form and develop new performance styles.
Musicians have discovered new creative possibilities
and enriched their works through the interaction of
pop piano and jazz music. The freedom and expression
in jazz music serves as an important creative resource
in many genres of pop music. This article deeply
explores the relationship between pop piano
performance and jazz music and analyzes the
mechanisms of their interaction.
Analysis of foreign literature:
The researches of many foreign musicologists serve as
the main source for the in-depth study of the
relationship between pop piano and jazz music. For
example, Mark Levine[5] (1995) in his work "Jazz Piano
Book" analyzes the technique of jazz piano and
highlights the common aspects of this style with pop

music. Levine details jazz's complex harmonic system,
unique chord progressions, and improvisational
techniques, which have been instrumental in shaping
new approaches to pop music piano performance.
Also, Paul Berliner[1] (1994) in "Thinking in Jazz: The
Infinite Art of Improvisation" highlights the
importance of the art of improvisation in jazz music. His
research reveals the possibilities of applying creative
approaches of jazz in the performance of pop music.
According to Berliner, jazz improvisation serves to
create new styles of musical creation, and provides
enrichment and variety of pop piano styles.
In addition, Ted Gioia[3] (1997) provides extensive
information on the historical development of jazz and
its influence on contemporary musical trends,
including pop music, in The History of Jazz. Gioia
analyzes the stages of jazz music from its emergence
to its integration with pop music and shows their
musical connections.
These foreign literatures create a solid theoretical basis
for the scientific analysis of the relationship between
pop piano and jazz. They deeply illuminate the
interaction of performance techniques, chord and
rhythm characteristics, and reveal the inextricable
connection between pop performance and jazz music.
Analysis of Russian literature:
Scientific works created by Russian musicologists play
an important role in the study of the relationship
between pop piano and jazz music. G. V. Kogan[4]
(1972) in "O fortepiano" analyzes various styles of
piano performance and shows the points of
connection between jazz music and pop music. Kogan
explores the mechanisms of interaction between these
two musical genres, detailing the richness of chords
and the complexity of rhythmic structures in pop and
jazz piano performance.
V. S. Zak [6] (1983) in "Fortepiano iskusstvo XX veka"
explores innovations and innovative approaches in the
piano art of the 20th century. He analyzes the
relationship between jazz music and pop music in
terms of performance techniques and musical freedom
of expression. According to Zach, the unique creative
approach and improvisational techniques of jazz
allowed to discover new means of expression in pop
music.
O. M. Dubovitskaya [2] (1991) in the book "Jazz i
sovremennaya muzyka" provides detailed information
about the interdependence of jazz and modern music,
the influence of jazz on pop music. He analyzes the
rhythmic and harmonic features of jazz music and
sheds light on their impact on the process of
emergence of new musical forms and genres in pop
music. Dubovitskaya confirms the role of jazz music in
the formation of pop music with musical examples.
This Russian literature is an important source for
studying the musical connections between pop piano
and jazz, and provides a theoretical basis for
elucidating the technical and methodological aspects
of both musical directions. Through the analyzes of
musicologists, the interaction of pop music and jazz
music is deeply and clearly expressed, showing the
richness of musical expression and performance
approaches.
DISCUSSION
The interaction between pop piano and jazz plays a
major role in discovering new approaches and
expressive possibilities in musical creativity. It is clear
from the literature analyzed in the article that the

rhythmic, melodic and harmonic aspects of jazz music
serve the formation of new techniques and
performance styles in pop piano performance. The
unique improvisational character of jazz enriches pop
music creatively and enhances musical expression and
variety.
In pop piano performance, empty chords, asymmetric
rhythmic structures, and variable chord sequences
stand out as the main influencing elements of jazz.
These styles allow creative freedom for the performer,
and also open the way to search for new forms of
expression in musical works. The complexity of chords
in jazz has been important in discovering rich means of
expression for pop piano performance.
The researches of foreign and Russian musicologists
shed light on how jazz was assimilated in pop music. In
particular, the creative experiences of musicians
became unique through the impact of jazz styles on
modern approaches to pop music. Jazz's strong
rhythm and varied chord progressions serve to create
new musical structures in pop music and make it more
interesting for listeners.
As a result of this musical integration, the performance
of pop music was strengthened and acquired new
modern forms. The combination of jazz and pop piano
performance plays a significant role not only in the
creation of musical works, but also in the development
of performance culture. This integration increased the
international reputation of performing arts and paved
the way for pop music to reach new heights.
As a result, the interaction of pop piano and jazz
opened up new creative possibilities in musical art, and
provided musical freedom and expressive power in
performance.
CONCLUSION
The relationship between pop piano and jazz music is
of great importance in musical art. Jazz's rich harmonic
system,
complex
rhythmic
structures,
and
improvisational approach based on creative freedom
brought new approaches to pop music piano
performance. This musical harmony makes pop music
more lively and expressive, and serves to improve the
skills of performers.
The analyzes presented in the article show that the
connection between pop and jazz music allows for the
emergence of new ideas in musical creativity and the
enrichment of performance techniques. At the same
time, these connections require creative skills, high
technical training and musical knowledge from
musicians.
Thus, the study of the interaction of pop piano and jazz
music plays an important role in the development of
modern musical art. Through the combination of these
musical genres, the possibilities of musical expression
expand and new creative approaches are formed. This
process provides rich and varied musical experiences
to pop and jazz music lovers.
