WORDS RELATED TO PROFESSIONS IN UZBEK
Abstract:
The Uzbek language, with its rich historical and cultural background, includes a vast
lexicon related to professions. This article explores the evolution, classification, and cultural
significance of words associated with various professions in Uzbek. It examines traditional and
modern professional terminologies, their linguistic structures, and their role in societal
development. Additionally, the study analyzes the impact of globalization on Uzbek professional
vocabulary and the emergence of borrowed terms. Special attention is given to the influence of
historical, economic, and technological factors on the formation of occupational terminology.
The findings provide insight into the role of profession-related words in shaping Uzbek linguistic
identity and communication.

INTRОDUСTIОN
Language is a reflection of society, and its vocabulary evolves alongside social, economic, and
technological developments. Professional terminology in any language is an essential component
of communication, representing various occupations and societal roles. In the Uzbek language,
profession-related words have undergone significant transformation due to historical influences,
globalization, and socio-economic changes.
The study of professional lexicon in Uzbek provides valuable insight into the cultural and
economic landscape of the nation. Traditional professions, deeply rooted in history, continue to
exist alongside emerging modern occupations introduced by globalization and technological
advancements. The Uzbek language has also integrated borrowed words from Persian, Arabic,
Russian, and English, reflecting the influence of different civilizations and economic changes
over time.
This article aims to analyze the linguistic characteristics of Uzbek profession-related words, their
historical development, and the cultural and economic factors shaping them. A special focus is
placed on the classification of professions, linguistic adaptation of foreign occupational terms,
and the role of professional vocabulary in education and communication.
MАTЕRIАLS АND MЕTHОDS
Words related to professions in Uzbek can be classified into several categories based on their
historical, social, and economic significance.
1. Traditional Professions
Historically, Uzbek professional terminology was shaped by agricultural, craftsmanship, and
trade-based occupations. Many of these professions are still relevant today, though some have
declined due to industrialization.

globalization. The linguistic structure of profession-related words showcases unique derivational
patterns, demonstrating the adaptability of the Uzbek language.

Despite challenges such as the excessive use of foreign terms, conscious efforts to standardize
and promote native terminology can strengthen the linguistic integrity of professional discourse.
Future research should focus on developing Uzbek terminology for emerging professions and
integrating these terms into educational materials. By doing so, the Uzbek language will continue
to evolve while preserving its cultural identity.
