NEW PEDAGOGICAL TECHNOLOGIES IN TEACHING ENGLISH TO UNIVERSITY
STUDENTS WHOSE MAJOR IS NOT A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Annotation:
One of the most effective forms of teaching English is the method of using modern
pedagogical technologies. This article discusses the "new pedagogical technologies" used in
teaching foreign languages. The topic is the most relevant at the moment. The method of using
modern pedagogical technologies, which is relatively new in teaching English, promotes the
active involvement of students in various types of practical activities and allows each of them to
develop creative and individual abilities, also leads to motivation as the main motor mechanism
of human education and self-education.
Key words:
pedagogical technologies, case method, project method, critical thinking, game
method, cluster, educational resilience.
The term "educational technology" (or pedagogical technologies) is used to designate the
methods of work of a teacher (methods of his scientific organization of work), with the help of
which the achievement of the learning goals set in the lesson is ensured with greater efficiency in
the minimum possible period of time.
The following are considered to be the most important characteristics of new pedagogical
technologies in teaching foreign languages:
- productivity (high level of achievement of the established educational goal by each student),
- economical (in a short period of time in the process of processing the material, a large volume
of material is used),
ergonomics
- high motivation and assimilation of the subject, which contributes to an increase in interest in
classes and allows you to improve the best personal qualities of the student, to reveal his reserve
capabilities.
The main strategy of teaching is becoming a personality-oriented approach, which places the
child's personality, his/her capabilities and abilities, inclinations and needs at the center of the
educational process. All this can be implemented on the basis of new educational technologies.
Currently, this concept has firmly entered the pedagogical lexicon. Technology is a set of
techniques used in any business, craft, art (explanatory dictionary). Pedagogical technology is
the design of the educational process based on the use of a set of methods, techniques and forms
of organizing training and educational activities that increase the effectiveness of training, the
use of which has a clearly defined result. In the methodology of teaching foreign languages, new
teaching technologies include: collaborative learning, project method (project technologies),
game method, distance learning, use of a language portfolio, case method and intensive teaching
methods, critical thinking method, use of technical means (primarily computer and audiovisual
technologies).

In practice, teachers most often use critical thinking methods. Using the "Critical Thinking"
technology in English lessons, the teacher develops the student's personality mainly through
direct teaching of a foreign language, as a result of which communicative competence is formed,
which provides comfortable conditions for cognitive activity and learning.
The teacher stimulates the student's interests, develops his desire to practically use a foreign
language, as well as to study, thereby achieving success in mastering the subject. Having
analyzed the lessons using new pedagogical technologies in the classroom, we were convinced
that the process of teaching English can be viewed from a new point of view and master the
psychological mechanisms of personality formation, achieving better results.
Involvement of the game as a teaching method is an effective tool for managing educational
activities, activating mental activity, making the learning process interesting. Game forms of
work lead to increased self-control of students, strict adherence to established rules and, most
importantly, to the activation of students, as well as their creative potential and increased
resilience.
Currently, the context of learning a foreign language is not limited to the traditional format of
teaching. The use of modern educational technologies in pedagogical practice is a necessary
condition for the intellectual and creative development of students. New technologies are being
developed continuously, but teachers are afraid to use innovations, because the result is not
guaranteed. The relevance of this work is due to the insufficient development of new
technologies introduced in the pedagogical sphere. The article describes the experience of using
new pedagogical technologies in foreign language classes at a university. We selected and
analyzed the methods that meet the requirements that determine the relevance of modern
pedagogical technologies. Such technologies as case study, flipped classroom, project-based
learning, and game methods are considered. It has been proven that new methods accumulated in
the pedagogical arsenal can contribute to improving the quality of education. The effectiveness
of the technologies used is determined by students' interest in the subject being studied,
motivation to gain new knowledge, and improving students' language skills. The results of the
final test confirm the quality of knowledge of students in the experimental group.
Thus, we have analyzed the use of modern pedagogical technologies in the practice of teaching
English. Undoubtedly, a huge advantage of all new pedagogical technologies in teaching is the
ability to diversify the lesson, increase the motivation of students to learn English, use their
critical thinking, the opportunity to test their knowledge in a game form. As we can see, there are
a huge number of examples of the use of new technologies in lessons. Here it is important to
correctly apply them in practice.
