: This article teaches ways to learn a foreign language quickly and
effectively. Especially, learning English often requires a lot of our time. I believe this
article will help us manage our time correctly and learn quickly and easily.
Keywords:
strong desire, daily practice, types of abilities, learning grammar,
increasing vocabulary, pronunciation, repetition, proper use of a smartphone.
It is impossible to imagine today's life without foreign languages. As the
process of globalization accelerates, learning foreign languages is becoming a
necessity of the times. Today, knowing English has become a basic requirement to
become a good specialist in any field. If we learn English, we will gain many
opportunities.
For this, a person must first have a strong desire. Always ask yourself, "Why
do I need to learn this language?" and, in any difficult situation or moment of doubt,
remember your purpose for learning the language. Most importantly, you must realize
that everything in learning a language is not as difficult as it seems, and you are not
inferior to others in your ability to learn. Only after boosting your self-confidence can
you begin learning the language.

Today, many language courses offer classes once or twice a week for two
hours, but this does not yield good results for us. This is because on other days, we
are busy with daily tasks. Usually, before the next class, we forget the topics covered
in the previous lesson, which significantly slows down the learning process. When
learning any foreign language, it is necessary to study and revise it every day. Only
then will the learning process accelerate significantly.
First and foremost, we need to take responsibility for ourselves. For example,
"No matter what the circumstances, I will dedicate two hours every day to learning
English!" By doing so, our retention rate will increase sharply. Many people say they
need to follow this method but fail to apply it in practice. We need to adapt ourselves
to daily practice. Only then can we achieve the desired results.
Types of Skills
Linguists have divided learning English into four major areas:
-Reading(Oʻqish): The ability to read and comprehend texts in a foreign
language.
-Listening(Eshitish): The ability to listen to and understand a foreign
language.
-Writing(Yozish): The ability to write in a foreign language.
-Speaking(Gapirish): The ability to express ideas and thoughts in a foreign
language.
To achieve this, it is important to master three key aspects: grammar,
vocabulary, and pronunciation.
1. Learning Grammar
Learning grammar will not be easy for us, of course. Whether we like it or
not, grammar is the most challenging part of learning a language. We often observe
that many people start memorizing rules when studying grammar. However,
memorizing rules does not mean you have learned grammar. Unfortunately, many
people fall into this category. They memorize the rules of grammar and phonetics of
a foreign language but cannot construct a complex, error-free sentence in the
language. Get rid of the idea of memorizing rules altogether. Do not try to memorize

all the rules; focus only on the most commonly used ones. Even if you memorize all
the rules, you will only use about 30% of them. The rest will remain unused, leading
to boredom and confusion. Repeat what you have learned daily, and start forming
simple sentences, gradually moving to more complex ones. A simple sentence
typically consists of a subject, a predicate, and an object.
2. Learning Vocabulary
When it comes to vocabulary, dedicating years to rote learning of words is not
an effective method. I used to memorize 10 words a day, but the problem was that I
could hardly use them in conversations in English. Most of these words remained
unused, yielding no results.
There are concepts like "active vocabulary" and "passive vocabulary." In
short, words in your active vocabulary are those you can use effortlessly in various
situations. However, words in your passive vocabulary are ones you recognize when
you see or hear them but can recall only with some kind of trigger. Passive vocabulary
words are risky because they are at high risk of being completely forgotten.
To prevent this, focus on maintaining words in your active vocabulary and
transferring passive vocabulary into the active category. Watching English movies
can help significantly with this. Translate all unfamiliar words from the movies or
video clips you watch and pay close attention to their pronunciation. This way, both
your vocabulary and pronunciation will improve over time.
3. Pronunciation
Every language has its own unique pronunciation. Nowadays, with the
advancement of technology, we all have access to various mass media. Listening to
English movies and songs can significantly improve our pronunciation. Another
effective method is to use songs for more than just listening. Find the lyrics of your
favorite song in English, translate them into your native language with the help of a
dictionary, or work with English texts. Highlight unfamiliar words and translate them.
Then, close the text and try translating those unfamiliar words into your native
language without looking at the translation. This way, you will remember them and
learn when to use them.

Another helpful method is listening to and speaking with native speakers,
meaning people whose first language is English. Today, we all have the opportunity
to connect online. By using this chance, we can freely communicate with native
speakers, enhance our pronunciation, and exchange various information.
To learn English quickly and effectively, I would like to share some additional
tips.
1. Set Clear Goals
If you want to succeed in learning a language or any other task, having a clear
goal is essential. Think about why you want to learn English. Nowadays, many people
start learning a language without genuine interest, influenced by the opinions of
family members or others. First and foremost, you need to have an interest and a goal.
For example, you might set goals like: "I will be the first to win a scholarship to the
World Languages University," "I will get into Westminster University on a
scholarship," "I will study abroad and work in high-ranking positions," or "I will
establish new companies in collaboration with foreign partners." Remember, the more
serious your goal, the faster and more effectively you will learn the language.
2. Repetition Forms the Foundation
Learning a language is impossible without constant repetition. You may
memorize 15 new words a day, but if you don’t review them after 2-3 days, it’s natural
to forget them. To prevent this, you can make effective use of areas you see most
often. Personally, I stick small pieces of paper or various stickers with new words I’ve
learned on my room door or study desk.
3. Practice Communication
Language is a means of communication. We all know that communication
plays a crucial role in language learning. Attend speaking clubs at learning centers or
resource hubs. Even if you can’t speak fluently yet, never be shy to talk. Those who
try to participate in conversations, even if they make mistakes, succeed more than
those who avoid speaking out of shyness. In general, never be embarrassed to speak;
even if you make mistakes, keep practicing.

Alternatively, find a partner to practice with regularly. This method is also
beneficial because it creates a sense of competition between partners. For example,
you’ll strive to keep up with your partner, which will motivate you to learn more.
4. Adapt the Language Learning Process to Your Daily Life
Incorporate language learning into your daily routine. For instance, if you
commute to school or university by bus and spend 30-35 minutes traveling, make
productive use of this time. You can listen to exercises or audios to improve your
listening comprehension.
5. Use Your Smartphone Effectively
To learn a language faster, you need to use simple and effective methods, and
your smartphone can help with this. You can download free English learning apps
and use them instead of attending paid courses. Additionally, you can watch various
English movies with subtitles using your smartphone.
Learning English is not easy. It requires setting clear goals, consistently
reviewing new words, practicing communication without fear, adapting the learning
process to your daily life, and using technology effectively.
Conclusion:
In this article, I aimed to share quick and effective methods for those
struggling to learn English. I hope this article will be useful for learners facing
difficulties in learning English.
