Abstract:
Gafur Abdumajidov (1928–2013) was a prominent Uzbek legal scholar,
professor, and doctor of juridical sciences. His contributions to the development of legal
studies in Uzbekistan, particularly in criminal law and constitutional law, were instrumental
in shaping the country’s legal framework. As a member of the Constitutional Commission, he
played a vital role in drafting Uzbekistan’s Constitution. His academic works, including
textbooks on criminal law and legal history, remain influential in legal education. This paper
explores his life, academic contributions, and impact on Uzbekistan’s legal system.

Annotatsiya:
G‘afur Abdumajidov (1928–2013) — taniqli o‘zbek huquqshunos olimi,
professor, yuridik fanlari doktori. Uning O‘zbekistonda huquqshunoslik fanining
rivojlanishiga qo‘shgan hissasi, ayniqsa, jinoyat huquqi va konstitutsiyaviy huquq sohasidagi
ishlari mamlakatning huquqiy tizimini shakllantirishda muhim rol o‘ynadi. Konstitutsiyaviy
komissiya a’zosi sifatida O‘zbekiston Respublikasi Konstitutsiyasini ishlab chiqishda faol
ishtirok etdi. Jinoyat huquqi va huquq tarixi bo‘yicha yozgan darsliklari huquqiy ta’limda
muhim manba bo‘lib qolmoqda. Ushbu maqola uning hayoti, ilmiy ishlari va O‘zbekiston
huquqiy tizimiga ta’sirini tahlil qiladi.

Гафур Абдумаджидов (1928–2013) — известный узбекский ученый-
юрист, профессор, доктор юридических наук. Его вклад в развитие юридических наук в
Узбекистане, особенно в области уголовного и конституционного права, сыграл
важную роль в формировании правовой системы страны. Как член Конституционной
комиссии, он активно участвовал в разработке Конституции Узбекистана. Его научные
труды, включая учебники по уголовному праву и истории права, остаются значимыми
в юридическом образовании. Данная статья анализирует его жизнь, научные
достижения и влияние на правовую систему Узбекистана.

Gafur Abdumajidov was a renowned Uzbek legal scholar whose work significantly
influenced the development of jurisprudence in Uzbekistan. His expertise in criminal law and
constitutional law contributed to the formation of legal principles that continue to guide the
country’s judicial system. He was recognized as an Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan and was
awarded the “Shuhrat” medal for his contributions to legal studies and jurisprudence. This

Gafur Abdumajidov was born on June 28, 1928, in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. In 1933, his
family moved to Tashkent, where he spent most of his life. His early education was shaped by
Uzbekistan’s evolving legal and academic landscape. Abdumajidov pursued legal studies at the
Tashkent State Law Institute, graduating in 1948. He later completed his doctoral studies at
Leningrad State University, earning his Doctor of Juridical Sciences degree in 1983. His
dissertation focused on criminal investigations and legislative regulation in Uzbekistan.
Abdumajidov began his career in Uzbekistan’s Prosecutor’s Office, serving as an
investigator for high-profile cases from 1951 to 1957. He later transitioned into academia,
working at the Institute of Philosophy and Law of the Uzbek Academy of Sciences from 1961
to 1966. His expertise in criminal law and investigative procedures led him to become the
head of the Criminalistics Department at the Tashkent Higher School of the Ministry of
Internal Affairs in 1974.
From 1991 to 1995, he served as the Deputy Head of the Academy of Internal Affairs of
Uzbekistan, and in 1995, he was appointed as a judge of the Constitutional Court of
Uzbekistan, a position he held until 2000.
Abdumajidov held various prestigious positions throughout his career:
Senior Investigator at the Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan (1951–1957);
Senior Researcher at the Institute of Philosophy and Law (1961–1966);
Head of the Criminalistics Department at the Tashkent Higher School of the Ministry of
Internal Affairs (1974–1991);
Deputy Head of the Academy of Internal Affairs (1991–1995);
Judge of the Constitutional Court of Uzbekistan (1995–2000).
Abdumajidov authored several influential legal textbooks, including Uzbekistan State
and Legal History and Criminal Law. His doctoral dissertation, Problems of Theory, Legislative
Regulation, and Practice of Crime Investigation, was a groundbreaking study on criminal
investigation methodologies
His work in criminal law and constitutional law was instrumental in shaping
Uzbekistan’s legal system. He was actively involved in drafting the Uzbekistan Constitution,
ensuring its alignment with democratic principles and human rights. Abdumajidov authored
