Peculiarities of applying the training method in teaching
vocabulary of a foreign language for special purposes
using multimedia

The article gives information about the importance of using
information technologies in ESP lessons where training
methods are applied to enlarge the vocabulary of a foreign
language. Special attention is paid to the effectiveness of using
game methods which help increase students' motivation,
effectively influencing the outcome of the educational process.
It is also noted that students consider training to be a very
productive and interesting way of obtaining new and useful
information, and most importantly, working it out in practice.

foydali ma’lumotlarni olish, eng muhimi, uni amalda ishlab
chiqishning juda samarali va qiziqarli usuli deb bilishlari
alohida ta’kidlangan.

В статье подчёркивается важность использования
информационных технологий на занятиях по английскому
языку для специализированных целей, в том числе

тренинга,
направленных

расширение
словарного
запаса.
Особое
внимание
уделяется
эффективности
игровых
методов,
способствующих
повышению мотивации студентов и положительно
влияющих на результат образовательного процесса. Также
отмечается, что студенты считают обучение очень
продуктивным и интересным способом получения новой
полезной информации, а главное –
отработки её на
практике.
INTRODUCTION
Nowadays, technologies play an important role in the formation of new ways to
improve and change the educational process. Every year, more and more new types of
technical means for modern education appear on the information technology market,
which provides the opportunity to adapt educational material individually for each
student, ensure the simultaneous work of a group of users, implement interactivity and
also control the individual work of each student.
Computers have long been a powerful learning tool. With their help, students gain
access to a new information world, which allows them to realize their creative potential and
provides ample opportunities for data exchange and collaboration over long distances.
One of the general professional competencies of teachers working in higher
education institutions is the ability to take into account modern trends in the
development of information technology, electronics, computing, and measuring
equipment. This implies the presence of computer skills and the ability to apply
information technology to implement the requirements of the standard and achieve the
planned results of mastering the material and acquiring the necessary knowledge by
students.
The creation of a special information and communication professional educational
environment for teaching foreign languages using the training method is currently
relevant among higher education institutions.
The main value of the training is its practical focus, and applied nature.
A participant in the training acquires skills and abilities that he can immediately use right
after the training.
MATERIALS
Techniques of applying training method.
Training methods are the techniques used
to deliver the material during training. Training methods such as lectures, discussions,
and business games are typically used in classroom training, while games and
simulations may be conducted outside the classroom.

What is the essence of the training method? Training from “train” –
«обучать, воспитывать» –
a method of active learning aimed at developing
knowledge, abilities, and skills, as well as social attitudes. Training is a form of interactive
learning, the purpose of which is to develop competence in interpersonal and
professional behavior in communication.
The training methods include such interactive methods as:
–
business games,
–
didactic or educational games,
–
game situations,
–
role-playing games
–
game techniques and procedures,
–
active training,
–
simulation models,
–
simulation games.
As you see, the main part of the training methods consists of the games. Motivation
plays one of the most important roles in learning a foreign language. Today, there are
various forms and means that help increase students' motivation, effectively influencing
the outcome of the educational process. Among them, special attention is traditionally
paid to game methods.
But what is a game? A game is an integral part of human life. The famous scientist
Johan Huizinga even wrote a book in 1938, “Homo ludens” (“Man at Play”), in which he
ponders over the role of play in the life of an individual and the life of the entire human
civilization. To some extent, our entire life is a game, in which each of us is assigned certain
roles (the role of a caring mother, an outstanding teacher, a student or a leader, etc.).
Let's consider a business game, which is one of the most effective teaching
methods. A business game is a way to activate mental activity in class and stimulate the
learning process, which contributes to:
•
the formation of language skills and the development of speech skills;
•
the development of communication skills;
•
memorization of speech material;
•
the development of attention, memory, thinking, imagination, and all cognitive
processes.
Why are business games necessary? The game enlivens the daily routine of the
educational process, increases students' interest in the subject being studied, and improves
their mastery of the material. The game is an ideal tool for developing productive thinking.
Main characteristics of a business game:
•
the learning process is characterized by maximum proximity to reality;
•
in a business game, participants learn in the process of joint activity,
herewith each solving their problem by their role and function;
•
in a business game, one of the leading principles is the principle of
dialogical communication between participants;
•
a business game is not just joint learning, it is learning joint activity, skills,
and abilities of cooperation;
• the game
provides an opportunity for each participant to demonstrate
creative abilities, which satisfaction of the need for self-realization, and provides
an opportunity to compete, confirm, or change status in the group.

As a teacher of ESP, we often conduct lessons in the form of training, because the
students themselves consider it a very productive and interesting way of obtaining new and
useful information, and most importantly, working it out in practice. We usually organize
training on the vocabulary of the English language according to the major of the students.
To determine the topics of new vocabulary, students tell us which specialties they study.
For example, if the subject and further work of all specialties is related to
computers and technology, then the English vocabulary on the topic "ICT and its use" will
be relevant for each student. The main focus of training will be on learning and
consolidating new vocabulary.
First of all, students are given an entrance test with a text and tasks on the topic
"ICT and its use". After that, students are randomly divided into 2 groups. The first group is
given a lesson in a traditional form and without the use of multimedia, and training with the
use of information and communication technologies is held with the other group.
Having studied the training needs and defined the training audience, the training
goal is specified and the tasks for achieving it are determined.
Thus, the goal of the training is to study English vocabulary on the topic of "ICT and
its use" and introduce it into speech.
Training objectives:
–
to get acquainted with nouns and new verbs on the topic "ICT and its use";
–
to learn to recognize new vocabulary in the context;
–
to practice the oral use of new words;
–
to introduce these words into the active vocabulary of students.
During the training, students do tasks on pictures where they should name things,
match pictures with their names, guess the meaning of the underlined words, match the
picture with actions, create advertisements to sell the things on the picture, choose one of
the items on the picture and give the reason, etc. All these tasks aim to strengthen the
vocabulary of a foreign language.
After the game of choice, the productive stage of the training begins. Each team will
be sent a situation and conditions (namely, skills and a problem), thanks to which the
participants should understand which team they can help and which team can help them
solve their problem. Students should agree in English, using new vocabulary.
The final task for teams is to think of a completely new device, present it using new
vocabulary from the training, make a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, and present it
to the other participants with the team. The task of the listeners is to write down as many
words as possible spoken by the other team on the topic "ICT and its use". Due to this
task, the students listen to the other participants very carefully, without being distracted,
and also remember how to spell the words practiced in the training.
RESULTS
As a result of organizing such training, we have realized that the development of
lexical skills for their subsequent inclusion in the speech activity of students is the main
task in mastering vocabulary. The use of computer technologies in the formation of
lexical skills significantly increases the effectiveness of this process.
ANALYSIS
At the end of each training, it is customary to give feedback. At the end of the
presentations of all groups, the participants share their opinions about the conducted
training in English with the study of vocabulary on the topic of "ICT and its use" using

multimedia. The students' words are exclusively positive, they remember and begin to
use new vocabulary in their speech already during the training itself, and during
interactive tasks, they are very fascinated and perform them with pleasure. During the
training, each student gets acquainted with new nouns, as well as new verbs, which they
introduce into their active vocabulary. Students consider the training methods to be new,
unusual, interesting, and exciting, noting their effectiveness in memorizing words.

Thus,

reating a training is a multi-level process that includes determining the
need for training, the topic, purpose, and objectives of both the entire training and each
of its blocks, selecting language and speech material, familiarizing students with the
material, and introducing it into the speech of the participants; consolidating knowledge
and developing skills through various methods and techniques, training skills and
moving towards their use in professional activities in future.
