Introduction
.
In the conditions of modern economic development, small business entities
play an important strategic role in the sustainable growth of the national
economy, the diversification of socio-economic systems and increasing the level
of employment. Successful management of small businesses is directly related to
the activities of managers with effective leadership competencies. A leader-
manager is not only a person who organizes and controls the activities of the
organization, but also an active participant who, relying on innovative
innovations, leads the team towards the goal, ensuring adaptation to the
changing external and internal environment.
In today's era of globalization and technological transformations,
leadership skills in small business management are considered an integral part
of strategic management. From this point of view, the requirements for a
modern leader-manager are becoming more complex and include multifaceted
competencies. In particular, factors such as high-level innovative thinking,
strategic planning and decision-making, communication competencies,
emotional intelligence, and risk management capability are gaining particular
importance.
For the successful development of small business entities, it is necessary for
leaders to be able to form a strategic vision, develop initiative, create an
atmosphere of motivation and trust in the team, and effectively use modern
management technologies. At the same time, in changing economic conditions,
such personal qualities of leaders as adaptability and resilience are also of great
importance. This article systematically analyzes the personal, professional, and
organizational requirements for leaders in the context of small business

management, and also sheds light on their impact on economic efficiency on a
scientific and theoretical basis. The theoretical and practical significance of the
study opens up the possibilities of forming an innovative and competitive
management model by developing leadership competencies in small business
entities.
The concept of leadership in the process of small business management is a
complex system of activities aimed at achieving high results through the
effective management of human resources in achieving the goals of the
enterprise, the application of innovative innovations, and the formation of an
organizational culture. A leader ensures organizational stability and
development by integrating transformational leadership and transactional
leadership models in a small business entity.
The transformational leadership model is based on the development of
factors such as openness to change, innovation capacity, and strategic vision in
small business management. At the same time, the transactional leadership
element strengthens the definition of clear tasks, results-oriented motivation,
and work discipline.
The main requirements for leaders.
Strategic thinking for small business leaders is the ability to identify trends
in the environment, assess opportunities and threats, and make forward-looking
decisions based on the optimal use of resources. In this regard, it is necessary to
use complex systems approach and scenario planning methods.
One of the important competencies expected of modern small business
managers is innovative thinking and high adaptability. Innovative leadership is a
key factor in increasing the competitiveness of small businesses.
Emotional intelligence of a leader is the ability to understand and manage
one's own emotions and the emotional state of others, and to establish effective
communication based on them. This serves to create a positive psychological
environment in small business teams. Also, communicative competencies based
on the principle of intersubjectivity are an integral part of successful
management.
Risks are always present in the small business environment, and leaders
need risk management and stress management skills. The use of contingency
planning and crisis management methodologies is of particular importance in
this.
A modern leader is required to have an approach to management based on
social responsibility and ethical principles. Environmental sustainability and

corporate citizenship factors also play an important role in the sustainable
development of small business enterprises.
The following mechanisms are important for the formation of highly
qualified leaders in the small business sector:
Professional development programs;
Mentorship and coaching system;
Strategic management training;
Practical involvement in innovation projects.
Such mechanisms develop analytical thinking, creative approach, and
sustainable management potential of leaders.
Discussion
:
In today's conditions of globalization and rapid economic changes, the
successful operation of small business entities largely depends on the
competence potential of leaders. Scientific and practical analysis shows that
leaders play a key determinant role in ensuring the competitive and sustainable
development of small businesses.
First, strategic thinking and a systematic approach stand out as one of the
most important competencies of leaders. The results of the study show that in
small businesses, the ability to effectively plan and allocate resources rationally
is an important factor in achieving high results. In particular, the ability of
leaders operating in a VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity)
environment to quickly adapt to changing conditions is considered extremely
relevant for small businesses.
Secondly, innovation leadership is gaining strategic importance in
increasing the competitive advantage of small businesses. Modern research has
proven that openness to innovation and a creative approach serve the dynamic
development of the business model of leaders. Leaders who are able to develop
innovative potential proactively respond to changes in the market and lead
small businesses to a growth stage.
Thirdly, the emotional intelligence and communicative competence of
leaders play an important role in stabilizing the socio-psychological
environment in small business teams. Such aspects as strengthening teamwork,
constructively resolving conflicts, and creating a positive motivational
environment are directly related to the level of social influence of the leader.
Fourthly, knowledge and skills in the fields of risk management and crisis
management are one of the factors determining the level of professionalism of
leaders. International research shows that small business entities constantly

operate under uncertainty and risk factors. In such conditions, the ability to
correctly assess risks, prevent possible negative consequences, and make quick
decisions significantly increases the chances of business survival and
development.
Fifth, the implementation of the principles of ethical leadership and
corporate social responsibility increases the ability of leaders to successfully
develop their business in the long term. The dominance of ethical values in small
businesses helps to build trust among consumers and partners, and enhance
their social image and reputation. The requirements for leaders in small
business management are complex and multifaceted, encompassing a wide
range of competencies, from strategic thinking to innovative approaches,
emotional intelligence, risk management, and social responsibility. Each leader
must deeply master the principles of modern management and constantly
develop his or her personal and professional potential.
Conclusion
The results of the study clearly show that the success and sustainable
development of small business entities are largely directly dependent on the
professional and personal competencies of leaders. In today's economic climate,
effective leadership in small business management is not just about managing an
organization, but also about the ability to adapt to a changing external
environment, introduce innovative innovations, and positively inspire a team.
Also, in small businesses, such qualities as adaptability, creativity, analytical
thinking and strategic vision of leaders directly determine their management
effectiveness. In this regard, systematic training programs, mentoring and
coaching mechanisms, and opportunities to participate in practical innovative
projects aimed at developing leadership potential in small businesses should be
created. In general, the role of leaders in small business management and the
requirements placed on them are becoming more complex in modern economic
and social conditions. Therefore, it is important for leaders to constantly update
their knowledge and skills, master new management technologies and work on
developing their personal potential to increase the competitiveness of small
businesses and ensure their sustainable growth.
