человеческие проблемы и внутренние переживания. Образ болезни часто
отражает трудности и душевные состояния человека. В этой работе

In modern society, health issues have become one of the most relevant
topics in fiction. A striking example of this is the increased attention to medicine
during global pandemics and the growing number of literary works about the
importance of doctors and health workers. Issues of medicine and health care are
widely discussed in society not only in scientific circles, but also through artistic
interpretations. Therefore, the study of the features of medicine in world and
domestic literature is of great importance not only in scientific but also in social
terms.
A deep study of this topic will enrich the understanding of the relationship
between man and medicine, the value of health, the humanistic mission of doctors
and the inner experiences of patients. Thus, the connections between medicine and
literature help to understand the role of both areas in social and cultural
development.
Literature and art are powerful tools that deeply reflect the human psyche
and express the social, cultural and spiritual state of society. The image of a doctor
and the depiction of diseases have always been an important theme in works of art.
The article analyzes the artistic functions of these images.

The Image of a Doctor: A Symbol of Humanity and Selflessness.
The image of a doctor is embodied in literature not only as a representative of
the profession, but also as an expression of high values, such as humanity and
dedication of one's life to others. For example, the image of a doctor in Leo
Tolstoy's novel Anna Karenina demonstrates heroism, alleviating the suffering of
the heroes. At the same time, this image reveals the complexity of human nature,
its strengths and weaknesses.
On the other hand, doctors appear in literary works as symbols of
communication, compassion, and hope. They play an important role in the
development of events by alleviating the mental or physical pain of the characters.
The Image of Disease: The Trials and Symbols of Human Life.
In fiction, disease is not only a medical condition, but also represents the
complexities, trials, and tragedies of human life. For example, in Albert Camus's
novel The Plague, disease is depicted as a collective tragedy and becomes a symbol
of the difficulties humanity faces. This image encourages a reconsideration of a
person's place in society, moral principles, and the meaning of life.
Illnesses often serve as a means of revealing the inner world of
characters. In the works of Franz Kafka, illness and bodily changes reveal the
problems associated with understanding one's place in society and the search for
identity.
Artistic functions of the image of doctors and diseases
1. Representation of mental and physical struggle
The image of doctors and diseases is used to depict a person's struggle for life.
This struggle can be associated with overcoming physical pain, as well as internal
conflicts and decisions.

2. Highlighting societal problems
Diseases are often used to highlight social, economic, and spiritual problems
in society. For example, medical crises during pandemics reflect the unity or
disintegration of society.
3. Philosophical meaning
The themes of life and death, human transience and eternity are highlighted
through doctors and diseases. This is especially evident in existentialist literature.
4. Empathy Tools
These images encourage the reader to empathize with the characters. The
dedication of the doctors or the suffering of the characters suffering from the
disease evoke deep emotions in the reader.
The images of illness also illuminate the weakness of a person and the
power of love for him. Through this process, the highest qualities of humanity are
revealed - such as sympathy, tolerance and helping others. In Leo Tolstoy's novel
"Anna Karenina", Levinda's internal changes and sharp turns in her attitude
towards life are revealed through her experience of illness.
In conclusion, the depiction of diseases in literature serves as a means
of revealing the subtleties of human life. Through them, writers illuminate the
problems of society, the complexities of the inner world of the individual, and the
unlimited possibilities of humanity. The depiction of diseases expresses not only
suffering, but also purification and spiritual elevation.
The image of doctors and the depiction of diseases in literature and art have
many artistic functions, such as illuminating the complexity of human nature,
drawing attention to the problems of society, and seeking answers to philosophical
questions. This topic remains relevant not only in the past, but also in modern
