The reforms being carried out in our country to help young people find their place in life
are, first of all, efforts to build a civil society in Uzbekistan and its development. The formation
of a mature specialist on the basis of harmony of national and universal values, the development
of individuals who deeply understand their responsibility to the family, society, and the
Motherland is of great importance and is a requirement of today.[1] In the context of the
spiritual renewal of society, it is advisable to adhere to the following principles when
determining the prospects for the formation of the harmony of national and universal values in
young people:
- the uniqueness and humanity of Uzbek national values;
- the fact that national values have stood the test of centuries;
- increased attention to the harmony of national and universal values;
- the connection of religious values with national values;
- the refinement of national values in the process of social development;
- the harmony of education and upbringing is considered a value;
- the fact that a person is the highest value;
80
- the veneration of spiritual heritage as a value, etc. Therefore, national development
requires constant clarification of the need for values, a dialectical approach to national and
universal values.[2]
1. Development of the educational process and educational programs. The Qualification
Requirements, curricula and training programs developed for the social work field also focus
on these issues. Below we will get acquainted with the methodological structure aimed at
developing a tolerant mindset in future social workers:
a) Integrated programs. The curriculum includes special disciplines covering various
areas of social work. For example: “Theory and practice of social work”, “Social work with the
elderly”, “Social work with children left without parental care”, “Methods of rehabilitation and
psychosocial support”, “Social security of children and youth”.
b) Practice-oriented education. The teaching process is enriched not only with theoretical,
but also with practical exercises. Students are prepared to work in various social environments.
c) Improving teaching methods. Through interactive methods (role-playing, case studies,
problem tasks), students learn ways to solve social problems.[3]
2. Internship and practical work experience.
a) Social internship programs. Students undergo internships in the following institutions:
- Orphanages and boarding schools;
- Nursing homes and rehabilitation centers;
- Centers for people with disabilities;
- Social service organizations in the community.[4]
During the internship, students perform the following tasks:
- Individual work with families and individuals;
- Organization of social assistance in the community;
- Provision of counseling and support services in problem situations.[5]
3. Training aimed at developing competencies.
a) Psychological skills. Development of personal qualities necessary for social work, such
as stress management, empathy and cultural sensitivity.
b) Training on conflict management. Students learn methods for identifying, assessing
and peacefully resolving conflicts.
c) Leadership and management skills. Training is provided on managing social projects in
society and building effective teams.
4. Innovative approaches and digital technologies.
a) Digital service provision. Students are taught to organize social services using modern
technologies. For example:
- using online consultation and support platforms;
- using social service monitoring and statistical analysis methods.
b) Innovative methods. Through simulation technologies, students practice solving
problems in conditions close to real life.
5. Scientific and research activities.
a) Scientific research. Students participate in scientific research on the problems of social
work. For example:
- protecting the rights of persons with disabilities;
- problems of gender equality and domestic violence;
81
- organizing social work with migrants and immigrants.
b) Scientific conferences and seminars. Students increase their scientific potential by
presenting their research results.
6. Volunteering and community activities.
a) Volunteering. Students actively participate as volunteers in solving various social
problems in society. Through this, they gain experience in solving real problems.
b) Participation in social projects. Students participate in international and local social
projects, developing practical experience and a professional network.
7. Formation of principles of tolerance and ethics.
a) Education in moral values. Students acquire an approach to social work based on the
principles of human rights, respect and tolerance.
b) Intercultural dialogue. Special training sessions are organized to develop an open and
respectful attitude when working with different cultures and groups.
8. Development of team and leadership activities.
a) Teamwork. Students develop skills in working in groups, for example, participating in
planning and implementing projects.
b) Developing leadership qualities. There are special programs in the field of social work
aimed at developing management skills.[6]
In short, social work is an activity that alleviates human problems, which occurs between
individual groups of the population, families, organizations and members of society. Future
social workers will need to have a deep understanding of the functions of a social worker and
be able to apply them in practice in order to carry out their work effectively in the future.
