Annotation:

This article explores the transformative influence of technology on modern

English language teaching (ELT), emphasizing how digital tools enhance both teaching practices
and learner outcomes. It highlights the integration of Information and Communication
Technologies (ICT), such as interactive whiteboards, mobile applications, online platforms, and
multimedia resources, which have revolutionized classroom dynamics. The article explains how
technology supports the communicative approach by providing authentic materials and
encouraging student-centered learning through collaboration, autonomy, and interaction.

The author discusses several key innovations, including Learning Management Systems

(LMS), gamified learning, and virtual reality, and evaluates their impact on language acquisition.
Special attention is given to how these tools cater to diverse learner needs and promote the
development of core skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Additionally, the article

Introduction:

In the 21st century, technological advancement has significantly

transformed educational systems around the globe, especially in the field of language learning.
English, being a global lingua franca, is at the forefront of this transformation, where digital
technologies have become integral tools in enhancing the teaching and learning process. The
integration of technology into English language teaching (ELT) has opened new avenues for
interactive, personalized, and learner-centered instruction that aligns with the diverse needs of
modern learners. This shift marks a departure from traditional teacher-centered models towards
more dynamic, flexible, and communicative approaches that leverage the capabilities of digital
tools and platforms.

Technology in ELT encompasses a broad spectrum of tools, including interactive

whiteboards, learning management systems (LMS), language learning applications, online
dictionaries, virtual classrooms, podcasts, educational games, and various forms of multimedia
content. These tools facilitate multisensory learning and provide opportunities for authentic
language use, which is essential for developing communicative competence. Moreover, they
enable learners to access language input and practice outside the traditional classroom,
promoting autonomous and lifelong learning habits. As such, technology is not merely a
supplement but has become a central element in shaping the methodologies and environments
through which English is taught and learned.

benefits in English language teaching.

Literature review:

Over the past two decades, a growing div of literature has explored

the integration of technology in English language teaching (ELT), reflecting the increasing
influence of digital tools on educational practices. Scholars such as Warschauer and Meskill
(2000) were among the early proponents of technology-enhanced language learning,
emphasizing its potential to promote learner autonomy, motivation, and meaningful
communication. More recent research by Chapelle (2009) and Reinders (2016) has examined the
pedagogical affordances of Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL), highlighting how
multimedia and interactive platforms can support vocabulary acquisition, grammar practice, and
language production in both formal and informal learning settings.

depends on clear educational objectives, well-designed lesson plans, and the selection of
appropriate technological tools aligned with learners’ needs and proficiency levels.

In sum, technology has revolutionized English language teaching by making it more

accessible, engaging, and relevant to the digital age. When used thoughtfully and strategically, it
promotes deeper learning, greater learner independence, and improved language outcomes.
Future research and innovation should continue to explore how emerging technologies such as
artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and gamification can further enrich the English language
learning experience while ensuring equity and effectiveness across diverse educational contexts.
