Peasant movements have played a significant role in

shaping the socio-political landscape of Assam Proper.

These movements have emerged as powerful

expressions of resistance against exploitation,

marginalization, and inequality. Understanding the

dynamics behind these movements and their

underlying theoretical framework is crucial for

comprehending the aspirations and struggles of the

marginalized communities in Assam Proper. This study

aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of peasant

movements in the region, exploring the socio-political

factors that influence them and examining the

theoretical frameworks that underpin their formation

and evolution. By delving into the historical contexts,

socio-economic factors, and political structures, this

research seeks to shed light on the voices of the

marginalized and their quest for socio-economic

justice.

METHOD

To achieve the objectives of this study, a multi-

disciplinary approach will be adopted, drawing from

various fields such as sociology, politics, and

economics. The research will utilize a combination of

qualitative and quantitative methods to gather and

analyze data.

Primary data will be collected through interviews with

key stakeholders involved in peasant movements,

including activists, community leaders, and members

of marginalized communities. These interviews will

provide valuable insights into the lived experiences,

motivations, and aspirations of the participants in the

movements. Additionally, focus group discussions will

be conducted to facilitate a collective understanding of

the socio-political dynamics at play.

Secondary data will be collected from academic

journals, books, government reports, and relevant

online sources. This data will be used to analyze

historical trends, policy frameworks, and existing

research on peasant movements in Assam Proper. By

triangulating the primary and secondary data, a

comprehensive understanding of the theoretical

framework and socio-political dynamics of these

movements will be developed.

Thematic analysis will be employed to identify

recurring

patterns,

themes,

and

theoretical

frameworks that emerge from the data. These findings

will be interpreted and discussed within the broader

socio-political context of Assam Proper. The study will

also examine the role of identity, land rights, and

power dynamics in shaping the peasant movements.

The research findings will contribute to a deeper

comprehension of the socio-political landscape in

Assam Proper and provide valuable insights for

policymakers, scholars, and activists engaged in social

justice movements.

The analysis of data collected from interviews, focus

group discussions, and secondary sources provides

significant insights into the peasant movements and

socio-political dynamics in Assam Proper. The results

highlight the following key findings:

Historical Context:

The study reveals that peasant movements in Assam

Proper have deep historical roots, with grievances

stemming from colonial land policies, agrarian reforms,

and the erosion of traditional livelihoods.

Socio-Economic Factors:

Economic

disparities,

unequal

distribution

of

resources, and the loss of agricultural land emerge as

major drivers of peasant movements. Marginalized

communities, including indigenous groups and small-

scale farmers, bear the brunt of these socio-economic

challenges.

Political Structures:

The research highlights the influence of political

structures, including power dynamics and policy

frameworks, on the formation and outcomes of

peasant movements. The nexus between political

elites, vested interests, and agrarian policies often

perpetuates the marginalization of peasants.

Identity and Land Rights:

The study uncovers the significance of identity and

land rights in peasant mobilization. Ethnic and cultural

identities serve as rallying points for collective action,

while struggles for land rights and tenure security form

the core demands of these movements.

DISCUSSION

The findings of this study underline the complex

interplay of socio-political factors in shaping peasant

movements in Assam Proper. The discussion explores

the nuanced relationships between historical contexts,

socio-economic factors, political structures, identity,

and land rights. It delves into the ways in which these

factors

intersect

and

reinforce

each

other,

contributing to the resilience and intensity of peasant

mobilization.

The study also discusses the implications of these

findings for policy and advocacy. It emphasizes the

need for comprehensive agrarian reforms that address

the root causes of inequality and ensure equitable

distribution of resources. The discussion highlights the

importance of inclusive governance structures that

recognize and amplify the voices of marginalized

communities, enabling them to actively participate in

decision-making processes.

CONCLUSION

This comprehensive study on peasant movements and

socio-political dynamics in Assam Proper provides
