Introduction.
Building a strong vocabulary is crucial for English Language Learners

(ELLs) to succeed academically and communicate effectively. Students who
have a strong vocabulary are better able to understand texts, communicate
effectively, and participate in meaningful English-language discussions.
However, because ELLs must learn not just the definitions of words but also how
to use them in different situations, learning new words can be very difficult for
them. Therefore, overcoming this obstacle requires effective vocabulary
instruction. It has been demonstrated that a number of instructional strategies
can improve ELLs' ability to learn and retain new words. These techniques
include the use of visual aids to enhance comprehension and direct education,
which entails the explicit teaching of word meanings.

Additionally, students can interact with language in a meaningful and

enjoyable way through interactive activities like games, storytelling, and group
discussions. Additionally, technology is essential because apps and digital tools
may provide dynamic, interactive learning experiences that maintain students'
interest and motivation. Additionally, a comprehension of student motivation
and cultural relevance can significantly improve vocabulary acquisition.
Learners are more likely to remain interested and retain new vocabulary when
vocabulary sessions are tailored to their interests and backgrounds.

English is currently one of the languages that is spoken and studied the

most throughout the world. English is becoming more and more important as a
result of globalization, technological advancement, and improved international
interactions. The necessity to study English is increased by the fact that the
majority of material on the Internet is in English, as are scientific and technical
publications, movies, programs, and the fact that English is the language of
international business. English is being studied as a second language by millions

of individuals worldwide. English is taught in schools in many nations, and
there are more and more options to study it through internet resources,
smartphone apps, and private instruction. English proficiency is seen as a
surefire way to succeed professionally in the future, particularly among young
people.

LITERATURE REVIEW
According to the article written by Ria Kamilah Agustina, Mukminatus

Zuhriyah English Department of Hasyim Asyari University [1] As is well known,
English is one of the languages in the world that has undoubtedly inspired
people to learn it for a variety of reasons. Some people want to study English as
a result of the global shift in awareness. For personal reasons, they pursue
learning English in order to satisfy their self-centered welfare. One example
they can obtain for learning English is to succeed in the job and pursue further
education abroad. Learners of English must become familiar with four types of
macrolanguage skills. These include writing, reading, writing, and istening
skills.

There are numerous approaches that some teachers use when teaching

English vocabulary. These include word maps, self-assessment, dictionaries,
memorization, and the easy approach. There are numerous strategies used by
educators to help children become more proficient, particularly in vocabulary
acquisition. This is due to the pressing necessity to learn English vocabulary as a
foundational skill. English proficiency is becoming increasingly important at the
high school level. Nowadays, a lot of high schools use bilingual education as a
technique for oral and vocal communication.

Conceptual Structure.

There are studies that examine effective vocabulary teaching strategies

for both Indonesian and foreign English language learners. Four earlier research
have addressed vocabulary instruction. They include Amalia Dhestia (209),
Hamdan Amani and Sata Al Ahmed (2018), Sheridan Robert and Laura Markslag
(2017), and Alizadeh Iman (2016). In her research, Alizadeh Iman (2016)
reviewed prevalent methods in a subchapter that discussed vocabulary teaching
techniques. By concentrating on the studies on teaching words both in and out
of context, as well as incidental and purposeful vocabulary acquisition, this
review paper seeks to give a concise overview of vocabulary teaching and
learning approaches.

So,The number of persons studying English has skyrocketed due to the

language's increasing importance in today's globalized society. Learning English

has become essential due to a number of factors, including globalization, access
to international education, advancements in technology, and career prospects.
According to study, students are driven by both pragmatic and personal factors,
including academic and professional success. Teachers have created and
implemented a variety of vocabulary teaching tactics, such as word mapping,
memory techniques, and contextual learning strategies, to meet this increasing
need. English vocabulary mastery is currently seen as a crucial aspect of
language competency, particularly in high school and college. Therefore, to
satisfy the changing demands of English language learners worldwide,
continuous research and innovative teaching strategies are still crucial.

Learning a new language is a complex process that requires patience,

determination, and the right approach. However, many people make some
mistakes when learning a language, which can slow down or make it difficult. By
recognizing and eliminating these mistakes, language learning can be more
effective.

DISCUSSION
One of the most common mistakes is to focus too much on grammar rules.

While knowing grammar is important, it is much more beneficial to apply it in
practice - that is, actively learning the language through speaking, listening,
reading, and writing. Another common mistake is the fear of making mistakes.
Making mistakes is a natural part of language learning, and it is through these
mistakes that learning is enhanced. . Additionally, relying solely on textbooks
only hinders productivity. You should also watch movies, listen to music, read
articles, and have discussions to learn the language. Some kids' vocabulary and
language skills deteriorate as a result of irregular practice.

Visual aids and real objects

Showing children the term is one of the best

ways to teach them vocabulary.

Realia

(actual items) or images can typically be

used to communicate concrete words, which are primarily nouns. For instance,
it is quite simple to teach a word like chair (as a noun) by pointing to one or by
displaying an image. Similar instruction can be used to teach related terms like
"stool," "armchair," "sofa," "deckchair," etc., and make the differences between
them quite obvious. Visuals can frequently be utilized to communicate even
abstract concepts. For instance, the word "love" could be represented by a
picture of a man and woman together with a heart.

Anecdotes and mime

When it comes to more abstract concepts and even

some fundamental vocabulary categories like verbs, adverbs, and adjectives,
visuals and realia are likely ineffective. They are typically restricted to concrete

words. These three language categories do, however, lend themselves to
anecdotes and mime. Words like run and walk are generally straightforward to
mimic, and it's even easy to distinguish between words that are part of the same
group but have very distinct meanings, like run, walk, stroll, sprint, jog, roam,
etc. Additionally, teaching manners adverbs like "quickly," "slowly," "happy,"
etc. using mime is quite simple. Getting children to mimic certain activities in a
specific way is a lot of fun and helps them remember the adverbs.

It is obvious that mime, tales, real objects, and visual aids are all very

successful methods for teaching vocabulary to young learners. Anecdotes and
mime offer helpful assistance for teaching action words, adjectives, and adverbs,
but realia and visuals are particularly helpful for introducing concrete nouns and
even certain abstract notions. These techniques accommodate various learning
styles in addition to making learning more interesting and memorable. Teachers
can improve vocabulary retention and give young students a meaningful and
pleasurable learning experience by implementing a range of interactive
strategies.

Conclusion
In conclusion, expanding one's vocabulary is essential to language

development, particularly for English Language Learners (ELLs). Learning
English's vocabulary has become crucial for success in both the classroom and
the workplace as the language continues to rule the world due to economic
integration, technological advancement, and worldwide communication. To
interest students and improve retention, a multimodal strategy is necessary for
effective vocabulary teaching, one that includes direct instruction, visual aids,
storytelling, realia, mime, and digital technologies. In order to keep pupils
engaged and inspired, teachers must also take into account the cultural
backgrounds and individual motivations of their students. Additionally, students
can build confidence and useful communication skills by avoiding common
language learning pitfalls like overemphasizing grammar or being afraid of
mistakes. Meeting the needs of students in a variety of circumstances will
require ongoing study and creative teaching methods as language acquisition
develops. A large vocabulary serves as a bridge to greater comprehension,
meaningful conversation, and chances for a lifetime.
