Playing games on mobile devices or high-end gaming consoles has become a
major part of today's youth. While computer games can be a source of
entertainment and a way to socialize with peers, there is much debate about the
impact of computer games on youth psychology. While some argue that
computer games can have a negative impact on youth psychology, others argue
that computer games can have a positive impact on youth psychology. Computer
games can help improve cognitive skills such as memory, attention, and
problem-solving. Studies have shown that computer games can increase a
player's ability to focus on a task and develop the ability to multitask. Playing
computer games can be an effective way to relieve stress and anxiety, which is
especially important for young people who may be experiencing academic or
social pressure. In addition, computer games can help improve social skills.
Many computer games are designed to be played in a multiplayer environment,
which helps players develop teamwork, communication, and negotiation skills.
There is controversy about the negative effects of computer games on youth
psychology. While computer games have positive effects on youth psychology,
there is evidence that computer games have negative effects on youth
psychology. Computer games can lead to addiction, which can lead to behavioral
and psychological problems. Some studies show that excessive gaming can lead
to insomnia, poor academic performance, and social isolation. Violent computer
games in particular have been linked to aggressive behavior in youth. Studies
have shown that playing violent computer games can lead to increased
aggressive thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in youth. In addition, computer
games can contribute to a sedentary lifestyle, which can lead to health problems
such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Young people who spend a lot of
time playing computer games may not be engaging in physical activity, which is
crucial for maintaining physical and mental health. Video game addiction is

defined as excessive or compulsive use of video games that leads to impairment
in important areas of life, such as work, school, or social relationships. Addiction
is similar to other behavioral addictions, such as gambling or shopping, in that it
involves compulsive behavior that provides short-term pleasure or relief but
ultimately leads to negative consequences.
There are several signs and symptoms of computer game addiction. These
include:
1. Preoccupation with computer games: People with a computer game
addiction may spend an excessive amount of time thinking about, planning, or
playing computer games.
2. Loss of interest in other activities: People with a computer game
addiction may lose interest in other hobbies, activities, or social relationships.
3. Tolerance: People with a computer game addiction may need to spend
more time playing games to achieve the same level of pleasure or relief.
4. Withdrawal symptoms: People with a computer game addiction may
experience withdrawal symptoms such as irritability, anxiety, or restlessness
when they are unable to play games.
5. Continuing to use despite negative consequences: Individuals addicted to
computer games may continue to play games despite negative consequences,
such as neglecting responsibilities, academic or work performance, or personal
relationships .
Virtual reality games are becoming increasingly popular in today's society,
where millions of people around the world play them regularly. While these
games provide an exciting and engaging experience for players, they have also
raised questions about their impact on society. Virtual games have become a
pervasive part of today's society, with an estimated 2.7 billion gamers
worldwide, offering gamers the opportunity to engage in immersive and
interactive experiences that are often unavailable in the real world. However,
the growing popularity of virtual games has raised concerns about their impact
on individuals and society as a whole .
There are also various cases of petty bullying and delinquency among
young people. New formats of such games, which affect child psychology, are
also becoming widely popular. One of the most important effects of virtual
games on society is their social interaction. While these games allow players to
connect with others around the world, they can also lead to social isolation and
disconnection. Some studies have shown that excessive gaming can lead to a
decrease in personal social interaction and a decline in social skills.

Virtual games cause changes in the psychology of children, which also
affects the development of various neurological diseases. Today, most of the
games played by 13-14 year olds are military strategic or large-scale field games.
Many players use virtual games as a means of reducing stress. Playing games can
be a great way to distract from the problems and worries of everyday life. Also,
players can feel successful by successfully completing stages or completing
difficult tasks. Research: A study conducted by the University of Michigan found
that people who played virtual games had a significant decrease in stress levels.
This study involved 300 participants, and more than 60% of them felt calmer
and happier after playing games .
Sitting in front of a computer or other devices for long periods of time can
also have negative effects on physical health. It can lead to musculoskeletal
problems, eye strain, and a decrease in overall physical activity. A 2019 study
conducted by Japanese universities found that playing virtual games for long
periods of time can have negative effects on mental health. The study involved
700 participants, and 45% of them reported symptoms of depression and
anxiety .
Virtual games can have a significant impact on a person's psychological
state, social behavior, and cognitive abilities. They help reduce stress, improve
mood, and develop cognitive abilities. However, excessive use can lead to
negative effects, including mental and physical health problems. Therefore, it is
important to maintain moderation in the use of virtual games and prevent their
negative effects.
