RECONSTRUCTING OTHERS VIA TRANSLATION IN THE LATE QING AND THE EARLY REPUBLIC OF CHINA

Peng Yin

Conceiving translation as a cultural construction tool, this paper, resting on the translation of “foreigners” in China during the late Qing and the early Republic, explores how the West and the Westerners as Others are constructed diachronically in the period. It finds that the prominent scholars in the period, most of whom were educated in the Western academic institutions, produced the discourses on foreigners’ superiority. Foreigner was initially used to describe the phenotypic differences between those born and grown up in China and those who are not. Chinese cultural homogeneity endows foreigners with derogatory connotations. In contrast, the Chinese constitution of discourses on foreigners in the late Qing and the early Republic moves foreigners from a periphery position to a central one in Chinese society.

Shermurod Subhonov

In the following article, we have expressed some views on the relevance of the poetic translations presented in the 2021 issue of the journal "World Literature" to the art and style of the Uzbek language, the achievements and shortcomings, formal features and the content of the ideas put forward in them.

“When I talk about you, I’m explaining myself,” says French writer Victor Hugo. The writer pays attention to the fact that in any work, whether in poetry or prose, the artist's attitude to reality is reflected. In this sense, the translator, when embarking on the translation of a particular work, must first begin the work of translation, correctly understanding the mission of the author - the idea put forward in the work. In addition, performing such a very responsible task requires the translator not only a perfect knowledge of the foreign language but also high potential, knowledge, experience, vocabulary, and creative skills.

NEW PERIOD TRADITIONS OF ARAB NOVELS

Nasrullo Toxtaev

One of the most important sources for the creation of prose works in Arabic literature is the book "Siyarat"[1]. We know that we mainly write biography books in prose, and some of these sources attract the reader's attention with their artistic skills. In addition, the chronicles and battles of the lives of Muslim caliphs, kings and emirs, and commanders who ruled at different times also play an important role in the development of Arabic prose. We also considered these works to be rich in artistic sources. Correspondence of Arab rulers, sermons and sermons of scholars are also among the foundations of Arabic prose.

THE FACTORS OF FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF ENGLISH AS A POLYTECHNIC LANGUAGE

Qo'chqorova Muhabbatxon Yigitaliyevna

The polyethnic aspects of modern English include important aspects of modern English linguistics. While English has the status of a global language spoken all over the world, it has its characteristics and aspects that are formed between different nations and peoples. Although some aspects of them have been studied, some important aspects have not yet been fully revealed. Its most important aspects can see in the linguoculturological, lingvocognitive, lingvostylistic, communicative-pragmatic, and sociolinguistic aspects. From a sociolinguistic point of view, the polyethnic aspects of the English language and its inherent meta-concepts, meta-terms, as well as the solution to its meta-linguistic problems, have been left out of the researchers’ view.

The research aims to identify and comparatively study the polyethnic properties of English based on empirical materials specific to the English language currently used in different regions, to develop appropriate methodological recommendations for the development of language teaching methods based on the results of research.
