This scientific article analyzes the complex and

multifaceted relationship between the history of music
and nostalgia. The research aims to study the process of
formation of the feeling of nostalgia in the context of
the development of music throughout historical
periods, its cultural heritage and impact on social
changes. The article analyzes the role of music in
awakening personal and collective memories, the
psychological and social aspects of the phenomenon of
nostalgia, as well as the continuity and change of
musical traditions in modern society. The results of the
research, conducted on the basis of empirical data,
historical sources and theoretical approaches, serve to
further understand the interaction between music and
nostalgia.

Introduction:

Music is an integral part of human history,

it has deeply influenced the human soul and played an
important role in the formation of many cultural, social
and psychological processes. The history of music is not
only a change in notes and rhythms, but also a rich
collection of cultural heritage reflecting the unique
feelings, memories and hopes of humanity. Throughout
history, emotions expressed through music, especially
nostalgia, have left a unique mark on the human mind.
This feeling of nostalgia is closely related to the revival
of past times, lost and irretrievable moments, and the
awakening of personal and collective memories. With
the help of historical sources, empirical research and
theoretical approaches, the connections between music
and nostalgia are identified and their joint social and
cultural significance is revealed. Nostalgia expressed
through music

represents continuity

between

generations, the transmission of values from generation
to generation, and the power to resist the changeability
of society. This section first provides a general overview

of the development of music history and its place in
human life. It then considers the complexity of the
concept of nostalgia and its role in musical expression,
and how it evokes personal and social memories. Thus,
the article seeks to explore not only the technical and
artistic aspects of music history, but also the emotional
and cultural richness it contributes to the human
psyche.

Through this approach, we attempt to understand how
the feeling of nostalgia expressed through music has
developed and has a unique place in human history,
and examine its continuity in modern culture.

This study incorporates a variety of sources and
methods aimed at revealing the complex relationship
between music history and nostalgia. Written
documents from historical archives, as well as oral
history, folklore samples, and ancient audio
recordings, have been used to trace the changes and
development of musical performance. Each material,
reflecting the social, cultural and political conditions of
its time, allowed for a coherent analysis of how it
influenced the formation of the feeling of nostalgia.

The materials collected during the study rely not only
on historical documents and written literature, but
also on elements of cultural memory reflected in
contemporary musical creativity and the media. This
approach served to study the complex relationship
between music and nostalgia not only in a historical
context, but also from the perspective of
contemporary life experience. In this way, it is revealed
that each era and generation, through its memories
and emotions, has given music new meaning, turning
it into a unique expression.

The analytical part of the material focuses on how
music, with its changing structures, rhythms and
expressive styles, evokes feelings of nostalgia and plays
a role in the formation of personal and collective
memories. For example, ancient poems, folk melodies
and religious rituals, combined with nostalgia in
musical expression, revived the memories and hopes
of past generations. Through this approach, the
appreciation of music not only as an art form, but also
as a social and spiritual experience, and the deep
psychological roots of the phenomenon of nostalgia
were revealed.

As a result, the analysis based on the collected
materials serves to illuminate the complexity of the
relationship between music history and nostalgia, its
social, cultural and psychological layers. In this way,
the article not only records historical events, but also
opens up new approaches by connecting them with
modern culture and personal memories.

Literature review

The literature on the topic of this study has been studied
in a wide range, and each of them has served to
illuminate the complex layers of music history and the
multidimensional nature of the phenomenon of
nostalgia. Researchers have studied the profound
effects that music has on the human psyche through art,
how it evokes personal and collective memories, using
various theoretical approaches and empirical methods,
and interpreted it in a historical and cultural context.

First of all, in the literature on the role of music in human
culture and its historical development, it is emphasized
that music is not only an aesthetic experience, but also
an adaptive response to social and political changes in
society. In this sense, research conducted on the basis
of historical archives and written sources sheds light on
the specific expression of music in each era and how the
feeling of nostalgia is reflected in its creation. This
approach is especially important in analyzing the
processes of cultural continuity and memory exchange
between generations.

At the next stage, modern literature is focused on
studying the semantic, stylistic and psychological
aspects of music. Through the methodologies
developed by researchers, not only the transformation
of music, but also its internal emotional resonance and
the mechanisms of arousing a sense of nostalgia are
examined in detail. Thus, the literature clearly reflects
the processes of longing for the past, memory and
idealization through musical expression. From this point
of view, nostalgia is considered not only as a personal
feeling, but also as a decisive factor in the formation of
the historical memory and collective identity of society.

In addition, studies conducted in the context of different
cultures and nationalities also show differences in the
expression of music through nostalgia. Some scholars
emphasize the role of music in religious and folklore
traditions, while others emphasize the elements of
nostalgia in modern musical trends. These approaches
allow us to more deeply understand how the concept of
nostalgia is formed in the process of constant change
and development of the history of music and its
importance in reflecting cultural memory.

The analysis of the literature reveals the unique place of
music in human history, the multifaceted aspects of its
expression through nostalgia, and its important role in
the formation of cultural memory. These theoretical
approaches not only provide a comprehensive coverage
of the topic, but also continue to create a solid
theoretical foundation for future research.

DISCUSSION

The results of this study allowed for a deeper analysis of
the complex relationship between the history of music
and the phenomenon of nostalgia. The empirical data

and historical sources obtained during the research
process showed that music is a factor that directly
affects human memory and emotions, and it is not only
an art form that provides aesthetic pleasure, but also
plays a decisive role in the formation of the collective
memory of society.

In the context of the problem, the changes in the
history of music and the associated feeling of nostalgia
have been expressed differently from the point of view
of different eras, cultures and social strata. The results
of the study proved that among ancient folk melodies,
religious rituals and modern musical creativity, the
feeling of nostalgia has its own characteristics, which is
deeply connected with the socio-political conditions
and cultural values of each era. This requires a more
complex and multifaceted approach to the analysis of
emotions and memories expressed through music.

Also, the views arising from the analysis of literature
and theoretical approaches have strengthened the
general ideas about the combination of music with
nostalgia and its deep impact on the human psyche.
The hypotheses put forward by the researchers
revealed the importance of longing for the past and
idealization through music as a personal and collective
experience. The deep roots of these relationships are
also evident in modern society, and have led to the
recognition of music not only as a reflection of the past,
but also as a cultural heritage for the future.

The results considered in the discussion section also
raise new questions for future research. For example,
how are feelings of nostalgia expressed through music
finding expression in the context of modern
technologies and global cultural changes? In addition,
how does the specificity of the relationship between
music and nostalgia differ in different regional and
national contexts? By finding answers to these
questions, it is possible to further expand knowledge in
the field of musical art and social psychology.

CONCLUSION

This article sought to shed light on the impact of music
on the human psyche and cultural memories by deeply
analyzing the complex connections between the
history of music and nostalgia. The results, determined
on the basis of historical sources, empirical data and
theoretical approaches collected during the study,
showed that music is not only a source of aesthetic
pleasure, but also an important tool for awakening
personal and collective memories. Each era and culture
has sought to preserve and revive unforgettable
moments of the past through its own unique musical
expression.

The approaches described in the article, while serving
to deepen the understanding of the social, cultural and

psychological layers of music, also showed the
possibility of reinterpreting the significance of the
phenomenon of nostalgia in modern culture. Nostalgia
expressed through music, in addition to reflecting a
person's longing and hopes for the past, is also a
decisive factor in the formation of the historical memory
and cultural identity of society.
