Introduction:
The development of national identity
awareness competencies among young people in
Uzbekistan, particularly students, is of paramount
importance. National identity awareness fosters a sense
of belon
ging, love, and dedication to one’s cultural
heritage, enabling individuals to actively contribute to
society. In an era of globalization, it is essential to instill
these competencies in students to ensure the
preservation of cultural identity while also equipping
them to engage with the modern world. The
educational system plays a crucial role in this process.
Without an emphasis on national culture, language,
traditions, and values, there is a risk of cultural erosion.
Therefore, the integration of national identity
awareness into educational curricula is a pressing issue.
Future specialists and leaders must not only understand
but also uphold and contribute to the development of

their national values. This study aims to define the
pedagogical conditions necessary for shaping national
identity awareness and to propose effective teaching
methodologies.Today, shaping the competence of
national identity awareness among the youth of
Uzbekistan, especially students, holds significant
importance. National identity awareness not only
forms a person’s love and devotion to their own nation
but also facilitates active participation in society,
valuing and developing their cultural heritage. For
Uzbekistan to establish its place in the global and
digital world, it is essential to shape the national
identity awareness competence among its youth. In
the process of globalization, forming the national
identity awareness competence in young people is one
of the key issues. A student’s understanding of national
culture, history, and values is crucial for their personal
development and finding their place in society.
Effective methodologies should be used to shape this
competence in the educational process. National
identity awareness plays a vital role in the
development of society. If the cultural heritage,
language, traditions, and values of a nation are not
passed on to the youth, there is a risk of the nation
losing its identity. Therefore, shaping the competence
of national identity awareness within the education
system is one of the most pressing issues. Particularly,
students
–
as future specialists and leaders of society
–
must understand national values, adhere to them, and
contribute to their development. National identity
awareness competence is the ability to understand
one’s national affiliation, historical roots, culture, and
traditions, to respect them, and at the same time, to
develop in harmony with the modern world. To shape
this competence in students, it is necessary to create
specific pedagogical conditions within the educational
process.
METHODS
The competence of national identity awareness refers
to shaping an individual’s attitude towards their nation
and developing respect for its cultural, historical, and
spiritual values. This competence helps individuals
actively participate in their personal and collective
lives, and aids in defining their position when
addressing social and ethical issues in society. A. M.
Zvereva
(2005),
in
her
work
“Pedagogical
Competence,” emphasizes the importance of finding a
balance between world culture and national values in
the educational system. Pedagogical conditions play a
crucial role in shaping the national identity awareness
competence in students. These conditions are
dependent on the education system, methodological
tools
, the teacher’s pedagogical approach, and the
content of educational programs.
Developing educational programs and curricula based
on national values, historical, and cultural heritage
provides students with the opportunity to learn about
their nation’s pa
st and traditions. The importance of
national education is specifically highlighted in the “Law
on Education” of the Republic of Uzbekistan. F. A.
Rajabov (2013), in his book “Ways of Development of
National Education,” emphasized the need to elevate
national values in the educational process. Interactive
teaching methods help develop students’ critical
thinking,
independent
learning,
and
creative
approaches. Through these methods, it is possible to
promote national values in students and foster a deeper
un
derstanding of their nation’s historical events and
cultural monuments. M. A. Usmonov (2011), in his work
“Pedagogical Technologies,” describes the importance
of interactive methods in the educational process and
demonstrates their role in shaping social and spiritual
competence in students. The attention teachers give to
their work, their methodological and didactic
knowledge, and their pedagogical approach aimed at
teaching national values are of great importance.
Teachers must master pedagogical methods in order to
effectively convey the knowledge they have about their
nation’s culture, history, and traditions to students. R. S.
Yusupov (2008), in his book “Pedagogical Technologies,”
discusses the role and competence of teachers in the
educational process. Cultural events, scientific-practical
conferences, and literary evenings are essential
activities for developing national identity awareness
among students. These events help students gain a
better understanding of their nation’s rich cultural
heritage and history. M. X. Temirov (2014), in his article
“Cultural Events and Education,” discusses the role of
cultural events in developing the competence of
national identity awareness in students.
DISCUSSION
In New Uzbekistan, the education system is developing
with a number of changes and innovations. These
reforms in the education sector encompass several key
areas:
Modernization of Education: Curricula in schools,
colleges, and universities are being updated. At the
same time, pedagogical methods are being modernized
based on new technologies, such as the expansion of
interactive teaching, online platforms, and the use of
digital educational resources. Uzbekistan’s education
system is being aligned with international standards.
There is an increasing collaboration with world-
renowned universities and educational organizations,
which, in turn, helps introduce students to international
knowledge and skills. Education reforms not only focus
on changing curricula but also on preparing students for
the labor market. As a result, many technical and

institutions
have
been
strengthened, and their curricula have been
harmonized with economic demands. In order to
reduce financial barriers to education, the system of
scholarships and grants is being developed.
Additionally, educational opportunities are being
expanded for students in rural areas.
Teacher training and professional development: In
New Uzbekistan, special attention is being given to
enhancing the qualifications of teachers. Various
training sessions, seminars, and courses are being
organized to align their knowledge and skills with the
requirements of modern education. This research is
focused on developing a methodology for enhancing
the competence of national identity awareness in
students, defining its pedagogical foundations, and
improving its effectiveness. One of the main tasks of
the study is to identify pedagogical conditions,
implement them in practice, and evaluate the results.
The following pedagogical conditions are of crucial
importance for developing the competence of national
identity awareness in students:
• Reflecting national values in the curriculum:
Teaching national culture, history, customs, and
traditions during lessons.
• Using interactive methods: Engaging student
s with
national topics, developing their creative and critical
thinking abilities.
• Creating an alternative learning environment:
Supporting initiatives related to national culture and
heritage, involving students in practical activities.
• Effective us
e of the Uzbek language and literature:
Shaping students’ national consciousness through the
in-depth analysis of literary works that reflect national
identity.
This research is aimed at studying the impact of
pedagogical conditions on shaping the competence of
national identity awareness in students and developing
effective methodologies. The results of the research
will contribute to further embedding national values
into the education system and fostering the
development of the younger generation as spiritually
mature individuals who remain loyal to their national
identity.
To develop national identity awareness competence, it
is necessary to create specific pedagogical conditions
in the educational process. The use of innovative
teaching methods is of significant importance.
Currently, interactive approaches are yielding effective
results in shaping national identity awareness.
Problem-based learning, project methodologies, role-
playing games, and debates are important tools in
understanding national values.
In the pedagogical process, embedding national values
is crucial. Methods such as studying historical and
literary heritage, promoting national customs and
traditions, and explaining the importance of national
holidays and rituals should be applied. Through the
study of the lives and works of national heroes, great
scholars, and artists, a sense of national pride and honor
is instilled in students. Modern technologies are one of
the key tools in shaping the competence of national
identity awareness. Through virtual museums, online
libraries, and interactive textbooks, students have the
opportunity to expand their knowledge of national
culture and history. The use of information technologies
can make the process of exploring national heritage
more engaging by introducing documentary films,
historical documents, and artworks.
The cultural environment also plays an essential role in
developing national identity awareness competence.
Organizing spiritual and educational events on national
topics at universities and institutes, as well as arranging
excursions to historical and cultural heritage sites, can
yield effective results in enhancing students’ national
consciousness. Additionally, organizing contests and
competitions dedicated to national culture, customs,
and values among young people increases their interest
in national traditions. Forming the competency of
national identity understanding requires a complex
approach. In the education system, this competency can
be developed by integrating innovative technologies,
interactive methods, and national values. Through
pedagogical
processes,
implementing
national
upbringing, studying cultural heritage, and using
education methods based on national values contribute
to students' personal development and social activity.
Therefore, educational institutions must continuously
improve methodological approaches aimed at shaping
the competency of national identity understanding.
Addressing the formation of these competencies in
students is currently one of the most pressing areas of
the education system. National identity understanding
primarily involves preparing the younger generation to
recognize, respect, and remain loyal to their cultural,
historical, and national values. Thus, forming this
competency is a crucial aspect of the educational
process. The pedagogical conditions for developing
students' competencies in national self-awareness
depend on various factors. Firstly, it is essential to
promote national values, language, culture, traditions,
and customs in educational institutions. This, in turn,
helps students understand themselves and the world
around them. Introducing courses and modules focused
on in-depth studies of national self-awareness topics in
the curriculum serves to enhance students' love and

respect for their nation.
Secondly, using diverse teaching methods and
technologies in the educational process is crucial.
Modern pedagogical approaches, such as interactive
learning and project-based teaching, play a significant
role in developing national self-awareness by allowing
students to express their thoughts freely. Additionally,
providing students with information about historical
figures, national leaders, and representatives of
culture, as well as studying their values, contributes to
increasing the national pride of youth. In addition,
conducting special educational events, forums,
roundtable discussions, and lectures aimed at fostering
national self-awareness in educational institutions is
an effective method for shaping students socially and
culturally. It is also important to promote mutual
respect between national and international cultures,
as well as to develop processes of integration and
cultural exchange among youth.
Another crucial aspect in developing students'
competencies in national self-awareness is the
teachers' proficiency in teaching methodologies.
Educators must continuously update their knowledge
and skills, as educating modern students often requires
new and advanced methods. To effectively impart
knowledge related to national self-awareness,
teachers should possess not only pedagogical skills but
also cultural and historical knowledge.
Results indicate that in order to develop the
competencies of national identity understanding
among students, it is crucial to emphasize the
education system's role in imparting national values
and nurturing respect and love for one's nation in the
younger generation. The formation of national identity
understanding competencies relies not only on
updating curricula but also on the effective application
of pedagogical methods, leading to a deep assimilation
of cultural and historical knowledge by students.
Firstly, educational institutions must prioritize
teaching national values, language, and culture.
Utilizing modern pedagogical methods, including
interactive teaching and project-based learning, can
significantly aid in developing students' understanding
of their national identity. Additionally, familiarizing
students with national values and providing
information about historical figures, culture, and
literature can enhance their self-awareness and
national pride.
Secondly, teachers' qualifications and methodological
preparedness must be at a high level. Educators should
possess not only pedagogical knowledge but also the
cultural and historical insights necessary for instilling
national values in students. This, in turn, aids in the
formation
of
national
identity
understanding
competencies
among
students.
Additionally,
implementing special educational activities, discussions,
forums, and lectures in educational institutions
positively impacts the process of understanding
national identity. Promoting mutual respect between
national and international cultures and strengthening
social integration should also become an integral part of
the educational process.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, the pedagogical conditions for developing
national identity understanding competencies play a
critical role in ensuring students' personal and cultural
development. Through reforms in the education
system,
improving
pedagogical
methods,
and
promoting national values, it is possible to broaden
students' perspectives and reinforce their national
identities. This process is also an essential pedagogical
and social task needed to preserve national culture and
history and ensure continuity between generations.
