With the development of modern economics, new concepts and terms are emerging. Correct
and precise translation of these terms into the Uzbek language, ensuring their practical
application is of great importance for economic education and practice. The translation of
economic terms requires taking into account not only linguistics, but also the specific features
of the discipline of economics. Therefore, it is necessary to use a lexicographic approach,
contextual analysis and practical experience in translating economic terms.
Formation and translation of economic terms
Economic terms are often formed through words borrowed from other languages. For example,
words such as "auction" (Latin auction), "bank" (Italian banca), "credit" (Latin credit) have
entered the Uzbek language. The translation of these words is often carried out by finding
Uzbek equivalents that fully reflect their meaning. However, in some cases, such equivalents
may not exist, therefore, transcription or transliteration methods are used.
The correct translation of economic terms into Uzbek is not only a matter of linguistics, but also
an important factor in the formation of economic thinking. Each economic concept embodies a
specific economic model, financial mechanism or institutional structure. Therefore, the correct
and clear expression of these terms in the native language, through their application in practice,
simplifies the application of economic knowledge to life.
The emergence and popularization of economic terms in the Uzbek language is mainly carried
out through translation activities. Translation, in turn, requires linguistic accuracy, a spiritual
approach and contextual consistency. Although some terms are translated correctly within the
text, misunderstandings may arise regarding their use in practice. For example, the term
“liquidity” may be an easily understood concept in the financial system, but an ambiguous
concept for an ordinary user. Therefore, it is necessary to simplify economic terms and make
them understandable to the general public.
There are three main directions in translating terms: direct translation, figurative translation and
creating an equivalent term. For example, for the term “joint venture” there is an equivalent in
the Uzbek language of “кошму первых”. There are many such examples, but it is not possible
to find a clear alternative for all terms. Sometimes it is necessary to create a new term. This
serves the development of the language and the formation of a new terminological base for the
industry.
It is worth noting that economic terms are directly used in practical areas - banking, tax, finance,
trade and investment systems. Their incorrect interpretation can lead to serious errors.
Therefore, each economic term being translated should be analyzed with the participation of
industry experts and checked on the basis of practical examples. In this regard, the creation of
economic dictionaries, terminological guides and electronic platforms is one of the urgent
issues.
In addition, in cooperation with international financial institutions, economic terms used in
most cases remain in the English version. In such cases, bilingualism - that is, using its Uzbek
equivalent along with the original term - is preferable. This method is widely used in modern
education and scientific activities.
The role of the media, popular science publications, textbooks and specialized portal sites in
popularizing economic terms in the Uzbek language and forming a culture of working with
them is great. The more often and correctly they are used, the more firmly such terms will be
embedded in our language and ensure the harmony of common understanding in
interdisciplinary relations.

Also, some expressions used in the press in the economic sphere do not comply with language
standards. For example, expressions such as "the credit line was closed" or "budget funds were
appropriated" cause misunderstandings as a result of incorrect use. To eliminate such errors, it
is important to train specialized economic editors in editorial offices.
The development of economic sectors in the Republic of Uzbekistan at the level of state policy
further increases the need for these terms. Hundreds of new terms are being formed in areas
such as the digital economy, "green economy", innovative financing, financial technologies.
This indicates the need to create a modern lexical system, scientifically substantiate new terms
and systematically use them in education.
Difficulties in the translation process
There are some difficulties in translating economic terms. For example, the term "venture
capital" (risk capital) does not have a full equivalent in the Uzbek language. In such cases, the
term is expressed figuratively or through an explanatory translation. Also, abbreviations (for
example, VAT - value-added tax) and acronyms (for example, VAT - value-added tax) also
cause problems in the translation process. When translating such abbreviations, it is necessary
to use their full forms or explain their meanings.
Problems in practical application
There are also problems in the practical application of economic terms. In some cases,
economic terms may not be widely used in the Uzbek language, which makes them difficult to
understand. It is also important to teach these terms correctly and effectively in economic
education. For this, it is effective to teach these terms to students through interactive teaching
methods, visual materials and practical examples.
The socio-communicative significance of economic terms
Economic terms are becoming necessary not only for specialists, but also for ordinary citizens.
Today, the general public is involved in areas such as banking services, the tax system,
investment, insurance and financial literacy. Therefore, a clear, understandable and practical
translation of economic terms into the Uzbek language is of great importance. The expression
of each term in a simple, understandable form ensures the development of the state language
and the active participation of citizens in economic processes.
Problems of standardization and normalization of terms
One of the most important problems in the translation process is the different translations of
terms. For example, the term “outsourcing” is translated in some places as “external services”,
and in others as “resources from abroad”. This leads to instability and confusion. Therefore, it is
necessary to standardize terms on an official basis, develop an economic dictionary and norms
of speech used in a single state language. Currently, the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan,
the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and higher educational
institutions are implementing a number of projects in this regard
.
New economic concepts and their Uzbekization
As a result of rapid changes in the global economy, new economic terms such as “startup”,
“fintech”, “blockchain”, “token”, “crowdfunding” are being introduced. Translating them into
Uzbek requires not only a linguistic, but also a conceptual approach. For example, the term
“collective financing” has been proposed for “crowdfunding”. Presenting such terms in a
modern, concise and meaningful form in Uzbek, and their active use in education and the media
will make this field understandable to the general public.

Currently, official documents related to the economy, laws, budget documents, bank regulations
and international agreements are being translated. In this process, it is important that economic
terms are translated correctly, in accordance with legal and technical criteria. Otherwise,
economic agreements may be misinterpreted or lead to misunderstanding in the public.
Therefore, there is a need to strengthen cooperation between government agencies, translators,
and economic scientists.
Conclusion
Translation of economic terms into Uzbek and their practical application are of great
importance for economic education and practice. In the translation process, it is necessary to
use a lexicographic approach, contextual analysis and an approach based on practical
experience. It is also important to ensure their effective study through interactive teaching
methods and practical examples when teaching economic terms. This will ensure the effective
transfer of economic knowledge and the understanding of economic processes.
