INTRODUCTION
“We have set great goals, such as building the foundation of a third renaissance, for
which we need to create an environment and conditions that will educate new Khorezmis,
Berunis, Ibn Sinas, Ulughbecks, Navoiys, and Baburs”.
Currently, great attention is being paid to the formation of a reading culture, which has
an invaluable significance in elevating the spiritual and intellectual potential of the younger
generation, their consciousness and worldview, and in educating a well-rounded individual who
lives with love and loyalty to their homeland and people.
A book is one of the human products that conveys information about the past, transmits
knowledge to future generations, and delivers knowledge about history to the future while
encompassing news and information about science. A book enriches human thought and helps
individuals find their place in society as mature individuals. Through reading, a person
develops and matures as a personality. This helps the young and mature generation to properly
find their place in our society. The role of family and society in shaping the reading culture of
the younger generation is also invaluable. Just as society begins with the family, the culture of
reading also begins within the family. The family is considered to be one of the main factors in
forming the culture of reading. Promoting reading within the family, being a good example for
the child, and encouraging interest in reading is primarily the responsibility of the parents. If

parents read books themselves and explain the importance of reading to their children, it will
further enhance the children's interest in books. Additionally, engaging children in reading from
an early age, creating a good reading environment for them, recommending books by parents,
and organizing reading-related games play a significant role in shaping their reading habits.
Parents should set aside special time for reading in their own lives and teach their children to
allocate time for reading as well.
LITERARY ANALYSIS AND METHODOLOGY
The Resolution No. PQ–3271 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat
Miromonovich Mirziyoyev dated September 13, 2017, regarding the "Comprehensive Action
Program for the Development of the Publishing and Distribution System of Book Products,
Enhancement of Reading and Book Culture, and Promotion of Book Reading" was approved.
The decree No. PQ 3271 regarding the 'Program of comprehensive measures to develop the
system of publishing and distributing book products, to increase the culture of reading and
promoting book reading' has been adopted by our President, and the implementation of the
tasks outlined in it will serve to increase young people's interest in reading books and develop
their creative activity. Starting this work specifically from the family and preschool education
organizations will yield positive results.
Providing education to children in the family and at school, and fostering reading habits
is based on the belief that knowledge and intellect are the criteria for human perfection, as
promoted in the Qur'an and Hadith. In Islam, not only divine knowledge is imparted, but also
information about secular sciences such as medicine, psychology, geography, sociology, and
others. If a child learns knowledge from a young age, their comprehension improves, and their
intellect increases. Knowledge elevates a person and brings them greatness.
Both of them are great because of mankind,
They always lead to justice.
With knowledge, a person can rise above animals.
What is bigger, tell me?!
Thus, Yusuf Khass Hajib stated that a person's wisdom is the result of their knowledge,
and that this knowledge is primarily attributed to the father, emphasizing the necessity for every
father to provide knowledge to their child from an early age.
The formation of qualities such as reading and loving books among learners is
considered one of the very important issues. This problem has been interpreted in relation to
intellectual education and knowledge acquisition in the teachings of folk pedagogy, Islamic
literature, and the great thinkers. The educational and moral views of Abu Nasr Farabi, Abu
Rayhon Beruni, Abu Ali Ibn Sina, Yusuf Hos Hojib, Kaykovus, Ahmad Yugnakiy,
Abdurahmon Jomiy, Alisher Navoi, Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, and later Abdurauf Fitrat
and others can serve as clear evidence of this in relation to books and their thoughts on
knowledge acquisition.
ANALYSIS AND RESULTS
The distinguished children's author of Uzbekistan, People's Writer Hakim Nazir, once
remarked on books and reading, 'Throughout my life, I have an undeniable truth: there is
nothing more important than books in helping children find the right path and form their
worldview, and to guide their morals and ethics. Therefore, I believe that the primary duty of
parents is to instill a love for books in their children. Occasionally, we hear that literature is

losing attention due to science and technology. In my opinion, as long as there is a need for
beauty, works of art will never lose their value. For this reason, it is gratifying to see the
number of those who appreciate books and read them with enthusiasm increasing.'
In family reading, if a parent who loves books does not consider the child's age and
physiological characteristics, mental and spiritual world, interests and aspirations, they will not
achieve positive results in this regard. It seems that there are specific standards and
requirements for reading culture as well. Taking these into account, the following
recommendations are suggested to cultivate a family reading culture:
– always be an example to children in reading books;
– have a culture of selecting books;
– establish a practice of reading books alternately in family gatherings at certain times;
– pay special attention to the importance of strengthening memory by encouraging
children to memorize poems, aiming for at least 2 poems in a month;
– present books considering each child's spiritual and emotional world;
– choose works with more colorful illustrations for younger children, written in large
letters, reflecting their innocent imagination;
– recommend works for intermediate-aged children that reflect the destiny of peers,
depicting real-life and imaginary-fantasy events, and bringing emotional experiences to life;
– regularly discussing reading books with independent adult children who have
established families, providing necessary recommendations (this creates a foundation for
continuing the family reading tradition as a sacred value);
– setting daily and weekly reading quotas for each book and monitoring them regularly;
– organizing family discussions about the content and essence of the read works, the
characteristics of the characters, the creative approach, and the impressions received;
– encouraging children who read books in a timely and satisfactory manner;
– working specifically with children who show insufficient interest in reading literary
works and are unable to complete assignments on time, aiming to develop their reading skills;
– being recognized as a family with high morality and intellectual potential that
contributes significantly to the material and spiritual development of society.
The main goal of children's reading is to educate them from an early age in the spirit of
humanity, honesty, truthfulness, justice, and beauty, helping them to grow into truly human
beings.
Therefore, many of our scholars, poets, and writers pay great attention to books and
reading. Our renowned writer Abdulla Qahhor said, 'A book that can be read with enthusiasm is
beauty. The readability of a book shows that the author has a meaningful and very necessary
thought to convey to the reader.' Children's writer Samuel Marshak said, 'A child wants to see
the whole world in every book.'.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
. In families, the cultural wealth created by our people, especially the Quran and Hadith,
which educate young people in the spirit of human virtues, serve as a significant tool in the
upbringing of youth and their development into mature individuals. There is no doubt that
children raised in such families will grow up to serve the prosperity of our homeland and will
follow in the footsteps of our great ancestors such as Khorezmi, Beruni, Ibn Sina, Ulugh Beg,

Navoi, and Babur. Therefore, every parent should pay special attention not only to the physical
but also to the intellectual, spiritual, and moral upbringing of their children, ensure they have
access to age-appropriate literature, exchange ideas with them about the books they read, and
encourage their growth.
By explaining the role of the family environment in reading books to parents and the
importance of family reading, if we start the interest in books from the family and familiarize
children with books from an early age, we will have laid a strong foundation for them to grow
into well-rounded and spiritual individuals, thus contributing to the education of worthy youth
for the future of our country.
