At every stage of a child's life, speech and communication skills continue to develop. Many

sources emphasize the key role of communication and language as fundamental life skills.

During early childhood education and the first years of school, learning language skills through

effective verbal and non-verbal communication serves as a foundation for development. The

growth of language and other essential abilities includes preparation for reading, literacy, and

numeracy.

The practice of developing speech and communication skills in preschool-aged children lays

a strong foundation for their future educational journey and social life. Considering these factors,

significant efforts are being made today in the field of preschool education to foster and enhance

speech and communication skills. Communicative competence is socially significant, and its

development in children requires a systematic process based on didactic principles and

innovative approaches. In state requirements for preschool children’s development competencies,

communicative competence is highlighted as a key criterion. The Concept for the Development

of Preschool Education in the Republic of Uzbekistan Until 2030 outlines essential tasks such as

creating the necessary conditions for the intellectual, moral, aesthetic, and physical development

of preschool children, as well as introducing innovative pedagogical and information-

communication technologies into the preschool education system. Based on these regulatory

documents, preschool education institutions widely utilize the following practical methods to

develop and enhance children's speech.

Developing Speech through Play Activities

Play is an essential tool for increasing children's speech activity. Through play activities,

children learn new words, practice correct pronunciation, and develop communication skills.

This method effectively enhances their speech engagement. The relationship between speech

development and communicative competence has been a central topic in numerous scientific

studies.

M.N. Shishova highlights the importance of speech development in shaping children's

communication skills. According to her, increasing speech activity, expressing one's thoughts,

and understanding opposing viewpoints strengthen children's social adaptation. Speech activities,

language games, communication-oriented games, and role-playing scenarios significantly

contribute to the development of communicative competence. Play methods are among the most

effective tools for fostering communication skills in children. E.B. Karpov has studied how

games shape social interactions among children, emphasizing that the process of play promotes

the development of both speech and communication skills.

Use of Innovative Educational Technologies

The application of modern pedagogical technologies in preschool education plays a crucial

role in developing children's speech and communication skills. Interactive lessons and the use of

audio and video materials increase children's interest and enhance their speech development.

When selecting and implementing innovative technologies, several factors must be considered.

For instance, instead of simply reading aloud, playing audio, or showing videos, it is essential to

focus on activities that foster communication abilities and speech culture. Active speech practice

should be organized based on each child's age and individual characteristics.

The Speech Culture of Educators

The speech culture of educators plays a significant role in shaping children's language skills.

A teacher's clear and fluent speech serves as a model for children and helps them develop their

own speech. Educators should approach each child with patience and kindness, avoiding

authoritarian methods. A positive and supportive attitude from the teacher is crucial, and their

interaction with the child should not depend solely on academic achievements.

Developing Communication Skills

Enhancing children's communication abilities is essential for their adaptation to society,

achieving an active social position, and developing self-awareness. This process also contributes

to their emotional development. Each method should be selected according to the child’s age,

interests, and needs. A balanced approach to these methods prepares children for school life and

promotes their social development. The most critical factor in fostering communicative

competence in preschool children is the harmonious development of thinking and speech.

Researcher A.T. Makarova has studied how speech development influences a child's overall

intellectual growth, emphasizing the interconnection between speech and thinking. Through

speech development, children learn to express their thoughts and engage in effective

communication. Among the effective methods for speech development are games, fairy tales,

songs, music, and storytelling, which help children acquire proper communication skills.

Conclusion

The development of speech and communication skills in preschool children plays a vital role

in their social integration and intellectual growth. The harmonious development of speech and

thinking abilities helps children build effective communication skills. Play, interactive lessons,

and discussions serve as powerful tools for nurturing communication culture among children.

Modern technologies, particularly interactive programs and didactic games, enhance

children's opportunities to develop speech and communication skills. Research shows that

storytelling, creative activities, and fairy tales increase children's interest in communication.

Furthermore, psychological-pedagogical approaches, through open and sincere interaction from

educators, play a key role in developing children's social skills. These approaches align with the

goals outlined in Uzbekistan’s State Program for the Development of Preschool Education,

contributing to the advancement of early childhood education.
