the composition of the participants and the
nature of the songs. The great scientist M. Joraev
collected the songs of our ancient rituals and
collected important materials. In particular, the
scientist collected the songs of the genre of
"greeting the bride" that are specially sung in the
"bet achar" part of the Uzbek folk wedding
ceremony, prepared them for publication
together with his student O. Ismonova, and
published them under the name "Kizil gulning
gunchasi" [1.]. In the preface of the book, "Kelin
keladi loladay", the unique nature of the bridal
greeting genre, ideological and artistic-
compositional features, the composition of
images, the conveyance of some traditional
symbolic images in bridal greetings, the
construction of clauses and the rhyming system
are put forward. .

In the collection "A Star in Front of the Moon" [2.],
which is intended for a wide readership
interested in Uzbek folk ritual songs, there are
mainly ritual songs related to crib, circumcision
and weddings recorded among our people.

The book "A Star in Front of the Moon" published
in 2000 by Gafur Ghulam Literature and Art
Publishing House consists of thirteen chapters,
157 pages, and the first chapter entitled "Golden
Cradle Songs" contains fifteen versions of ritual
sayings that are said when a baby is cradled, five
variants of sayings, three variants of sayings to be
performed when a baby is first bathed, seven
variants of sayings to be performed when a baby
is five days old, nine days old, twenty variants of
sayings to be performed when a baby is incensed
are given based on the folklore materials of the

Zarafshan oasis. Also, the book contains wedding
invitation songs related to circumcision
weddings, songs to bless the circumcised child
and his parents, colorful ritual songs that are sung
in harmony with the wedding traditions: the
bride and the groom or the newlyweds who are
visited by the godfather, the godfathers. songs
welcoming and congratulating them, songs
related to chimildik, yor-yorar, lapar and olan,
greetings wishing happiness to the bride and
groom are also presented. In this respect, this
collection is extremely valuable in studying the
nature and classification of wedding ceremony
and related songs in Uzbek folklore. Another
important aspect of the book is that, in addition to
the masterpieces of oral creativity carefully
selected from the folk songs collected and
published by other folklorists, it is also possible to
come across examples of folklore that have not
yet been announced to the public. In particular,
this can be said about ritual songs sung at a
circumcision wedding, "Antalho" and "Ishimma"
songs sung at a wedding, etc.

Said Olimov, associate professor of the Tashkent
State Institute of Culture named after A. Qadiri,
dedicated the review titled "Golden Cradle
Allalari" [p. 3.4] published in "Muallim"
newspaper on October 20, 2000 to the collection
"A Star in Front of the Moon" by Mamatqul Joraev.
The author evaluates the book as one of the
characteristic features of the book, which
includes examples of the songs of the ceremony
"Bola Kochdi" and "Hay Dost" related to
circumcision weddings, which are increasingly
forgotten among our people, as well as the

author's vivid scientific comments on the
peculiarities, role and essence of these two
genres. . Also, the author said that chapters of the
book such as "Is your brother's horse blue?",
"Chamanga needs a nightingale", "Blessed be your
wedding" contain wedding ceremony songs that
are performed in different regions of our republic.
He emphasizes that the new versions of such
genres as "Kudalar Ayitimi", "Ishimma", "Lapar"
are a great gift prepared for the future generation.

The fact that ceremonies are presented in the
book with poetic expressions to every small part
indicates that this publication is important for
readers interested in ethnography, folklore, and
folk music.

Shoira Doniyorova and Shahlo Baratova,
researchers of the Institute of Language and
Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences,
published a review of the collection "A Star in
Front of the Moon" on April 21, 2001, under the
title "Miracle of Magical Songs" [p. 4.4] of the
"Marifat" newspaper. In their review, they say:
"The order of presentation of the folklore works
in this collection is based on the law of life, and it
started with the songs sung during the rituals of
the birth and growth of a person." In the review,
the educational value of in the collection, the
advice of our mothers to young mothers are also
sung, the importance of information about the
healthy growth of the child and the formation of
character in them for young mothers, the heart of
the child who listens to the alla is filled with love,
in the section of the collection called "The herald
invites to the wedding", the son it is noted that the
first publication of songs and sayings of children

"honoring the hand", i.e. songs and sayings sung
at the circumcision wedding. Also from this
complex are the ancient ritual songs "Bola
kochdi", "Hay dost", which are still sung in the
Kasbi district of Kashkadarya region, "Alti
Khalfa", "Welcome", "Onglar bolsin toyiniz",
"Aylanay Keliningin" sung in Khorezm region. It is
noted that ceremonial songs such as "gaddi
boyinnan" are unique poetic records of the
people's artistic talent.

According to reviewers, "Alti Khalfa", "Sizniki",
"About Khalfa", "Mubarak", "Welcome" songs
related to the wedding ceremony of our people
and enchanting the reader were tastefully
prepared for publication by the folklorist
scientist.

Reviewers say that most of the songs included in
the collection were written by Mamatqul Joraev
among the people, so they are left to the judgment
of the reader, because of the folk melody and the
performer's dialect. they recognize that the
unique elegance of the folk songs, laid on the feet
of the bride and groom, naturally moves to the
soul of the reader. Also, the example of the song
"Ishimma" mentioned proves that this collection
is the product of a good work carried out to
restore ancient songs and bring them to the
people's attention. The saying "Ishimmajon
ishimma" is one of the songs that are used to
introduce the bride and groom into the fire and
turn the bride out of the fire, and today it has been
completely forgotten and is out of use. Mamatkul
Joraev recorded it, determined its antiquity, and
included it in the collection "One Star in Front of
the Moon".

Since 1985, M.Zhoraev has been cooperating with
the scientific-methodological center of folk art
and cultural-educational affairs under the
Ministry of Culture and Sports Affairs of
Uzbekistan and has been regularly participating
in the folklore expedition "Golden Threshold".
Therefore, he is also studying the changes taking
place during the active observation of the live
process of folklore performance in the present
conditions, he is able to evaluate their
characteristics on a theoretical basis and draw
certain conclusions. In this regard, the repertoire
of folklore-ethnographic songs in the cities and
villages of the republic is constantly being studied
based on the materials collected during these
expeditions. He is judging their auditions. As a
result, in 2003, in cooperation with O'tkir
Tahirov, based on the materials collected during
these expeditions, the first part of the book "From
the Golden Threshold"[5.] is of great value. In it,
folklore collectors from different regions of our
republic, folklore-ethnographic epics such as
"Chavki", "Koshkarsak", "Afshona", "Chashma",
"Hazrati Bob", "Oktepalik Oymim", "Bedana", as
well as "Soch Toyi", " New and diverse rich
materials are presented on the ceremonies of
"Kelin Toush", "Kelin Otirsin", "Kelin Salom",
"Kizil Gul Sayli", "Sumalak Beviti", children's
performance of the song "Aqiya" and traditions of
mourning. Features related to the performance of
songs specific to these ceremonies are
summarized. According to these qualities, this
work can be a valuable source for the large-scale
research of current folklore processes.

On November 23, 2006, a solemn presentation
ceremony of the book "Golden Threshold" was
held in the hall of the Uzbekistan State
Conservatory.

In 2017, M. Joraev published the collection "Ikki
kongil bir bolsa" by collecting "yor-yor" songs,
rich in artistic ornaments, with high skill
expressing the noble wishes and aspirations of
our ancestors in unique verses [6]. After the
scientist's death, the wedding songs he recorded
and collected from Uzbeks living in the territory
of our republic and neighboring countries were
published in the 40th volume of the magnificent
and perfect "Memorials of Uzbek folk art" 100
volumes [7]. The volume contains the text of the
songs "yor-yor" and "kelin salom", which are the
most ancient and widespread examples of
folklore of the Uzbek wedding ceremony, preface,
research, index of sources, annotations and
dictionaries.

So, he is a selfless person who goes from hand to
hand, picking words from hand to hand, and then
returning them to the hand as a book, cleverly
collecting the priceless words of the folk
language, enriching the bouquet of our
spirituality, enduring no matter how much effort
it takes, and enriching the treasure of our spiritual
heritage for many years. The services of folklorist
scientist Mamatqul Joraev in researching life-
giving songs are incomparable.
