Introduction:
Modern literary education plays a crucial
role in enriching students' inner world and shaping a
system of humanistic values. This educational process
is based on the priority of cultural values and
contributes to students' spiritual, moral, and aesthetic
development. During the study of literary works, the
analysis of characters, plot development, conflicts, and
climactic moments is conducted through both
individual and group activities. This process enhances
students’ thinking skills and improves their life
competencies. By analyzing literary works, students
gain the ability to understand the virtues and flaws of
specific characters, as well as the events taking place in
their lives. This, in turn, contributes to the enrichment
of their own life experiences. Through literature, the
teacher fulfills the role of fostering students'
upbringing based on literary experience and skills.
Thus, modern literary education is aimed not only at
delivering kno
wledge but also at developing students’
inner world. Through literature, students absorb
essential human values such as sincerity, compassion,
and justice. All of these contribute to their formation as
individuals and help them find their place in society.
The main goal of teaching literature in general
secondary education is to nurture morally developed
individuals. This process is carried out through
enriching students’ inner world, shaping ethical values,
and instilling ideas of humanism. Literature also offers
students the opportunity to explore and appreciate
their national cultural heritage, which plays an
important role in shaping their national worldview.
In studying literature, students come to understand
civic positions. Through literary works, they encounter
examples that help them grasp social issues, human
rights, and justice. This enhances their active
participation in society and fosters their development
as responsible citizens.
Moreover, instilling a love for literature is one of the
important objectives. By reading literary works,
students perceive the beauty of art, the power of
language, and the freedom of thought. This nurtures
their creative thinking skills and encourages them to
express their emotions and thoughts. Therefore,
studying literature in modern schools is a vital process
aimed not only at delivering knowledge but also at
spiritually enriching students and instilling humanistic
ideas in them.
Along with developing reading skills, literature lessons
provide students with indirect practical insights into
solving personal problems and navigating real-life
situations by analyzing literary characters and their
real-life prototypes. Based on the information
presented in modern literature textbooks, each
student builds their own personal development
trajectory with the teacher’s guidance. Literature
textbooks, created in harmony with the times and
national values, should contribute to the students’
spiritual development. In some periods, literature
textbooks were influenced by systemic bias or

contained excessive theoretical content, with
questions and assignments focused on rote
memorization of events and dates. This led to students
losing interest in literature lessons. Such textbooks
were oriented not towards encouraging free thinking
and independent activity, but rather toward expressive
reading and memorization of the provided material.
Therefore, when developing modern literature
textbooks, attention must be paid to fostering
students’ creative thinking, encouraging them to make
independent decisions, and developing practical skills
for real-life situations. This process, while recognizing
literature as an essential tool for understanding human
values, moral standards, and social issues, plays a vital
role in preparing students for life. In the course of
learning literature, students should be able to grasp not
only the content of literary works but also the human
experiences behind them. Thus, literature textbooks
should serve not only as a source of knowledge but also
as a means of supporting students' personal and social
development.
Modern literature textbooks that meet today’s
requirements should contribute to the formation of a
student's personality, teach them to set goals, help
them understand values, and develop skills in self-
analysis and life planning. The literary education
provided through these textbooks serves as a
mechanism for self-development. An important aspect
is that literary education begins in the family
environment. Initially, children form a literary
imagination based on fairy tales and stories told by
grandparents and parents. Later, literary education
continues in preschool and school institutions. Any
literary education should teach individuals to apply
their knowledge and skills in real-life and problematic
situations. Among the school subjects, literature plays
the role of a driving force in the educational process. In
the process of conducting scientific research in
pedagogy and methodology, shaping students’ ability
to apply their knowledge and skills in life, creating an

environment

and
developing educational and auxiliary textbooks that
fulfill these goals and meet international standards all
contribute to improving the quality of education. This
process supports the upbringing of literate, competent,
and socially integrated students and contributes to
their personal development. Literature textbooks
should not only provide knowledge but also serve to
develop students’ creative thinking
abilities. Thus,
modern literature textbooks play an important role in
both the personal and social development of students.
Today, the globalization of society demands that
people respond to current life needs and stay in sync
with the times. The worldview and lifestyle of
schoolchildren living in the 21st century have
significantly changed. Today’s students live in an
information-rich environment with expanded access to
necessary data. They are familiar with modern tools
and methods for searching and retrieving information
and use these resources throughout their lives.
Schoolchildren are no longer limited to textbooks,
fiction books, newspapers, and magazines but also seek
information from various sources that interest them.
While in the past television provided only a few
channels, today more than 20 national TV channels
operate. Additionally, students actively use the
internet and social networks. They have developed the
skills to search for and access any desired information
in video, audio, image, and text formats. In this regard,
there is an increasing need to create a modern literary
education environment and integrate modern, visually
and content-rich educational and auxiliary materials
into the learning process that attract students and
engage them. This process is crucial for fostering
students’ creative thinking and contributing to their
personal development. In this way, modern literature
textbooks and supplementary materials serve to make
the learning process more effective. Such an
environment f
orms the foundation for students’ future
success and helps prepare them in accordance with the
demands of the time.
Modern literature textbooks that can meet the
demands of today must, above all, interest the student,
encourage them to demonstrate their abilities, and
help them understand themselves and the laws of life.
Reading modern textbooks should foster students’ self
-
confidence and teach them how to set personal goals
and tasks. They should also develop the skills to choose
the most appropriate methods and tools to achieve
those goals. In the experiences of developed countries,
literature textbooks constantly inspire students to
learn. The inclusion of literary and informational
resources in literature textbooks that guide students in
determining their personal development trajectory and
discovering their talents in specific areas or fields
shows that these textbooks are designed with a
learner-centered and acmeological approach. At this
point, we would like to focus on the concept of a
talented student. Every schoolchild possesses a certain
degree of literacy and talent, but due to various
internal and external factors, that talent may remain
undiscovered. Identifying and developing each
student's talent is an important criterion for the
development and progress of society. This important
task is entrusted to literature teachers and the
pedagogical community of modern schools. Literature
teachers, in particular, gain insight into students’

spiritual and emotional worlds through the analysis of
literary works. This process not only provides students
with knowledge but also develops their creative
thinking abilities and lays the foundation for their
future success. Therefore, modern literature textbooks
and supplementary materials serve to make the
educational process more effective. The environment
created for students becomes the basis of their future
achievements and helps prepare them to meet the
requirements of the modern era.
