Abstract

This article recommends the methods of developing English as a foreign language, one of the main language skills - speaking skills using wiki technologies for students of technical universities. It is based on scientific facts that this method is equally useful for students of technical higher education institution and pedagogues of English language. In the process of writing the article, the author approaches mainly from the perspective of a teacher-pedagogue, and gives instructions on how and for what purpose to use wiki-technologies in the course of the lesson. In order to make the text of the article more understandable, emphasis is placed on what wiki technology actually is and how important its role is in the field of education. It also provides a brief overview of English-speaking skills and their level of difficulty, the benefits of teaching speaking skills to students, and how this skill is taught effectively. In the article, special attention is given and explained to what the pedagogue should emphasize more in the process of teaching, the importance of time, the primary and secondary factors in the process of teaching speaking skills. Some of the wiki-technologies that develop speaking skills are named in the article and their function is explained separately.

INTRODUCTION

The purpose of learning any language is to speak it,
communicate, use its advantages. English is no
exception, as well. The fact that it is one of the world
languages, especially, increases the number of its
learners and expands the possibilities of using this
language. In particular, thorough learning and teaching
of oral speech in the language remains an urgent issue,
especially for students of a technical higher education
institution, which is far from linguistics, it is clear that it
is somewhat difficult to develop speech skills.

METHODS

Nevertheless, effective teaching and easy explanation
of the speaking skills of the language, encouraging
students to communicate freely is one of the
responsibilities of the pedagogue-teacher in higher
education.

First of all, the teacher should choose a textbook or
manual that suits the learning styles of the students.
Because a good textbook or book ensures that
students will be able to learn the language at the same
level.

Secondly, in order to develop speaking skills, it is
advisable not only to pay attention to this aspect of the
language, but also to take all the skills of the language
together, especially to study the reading, writing, and
listening skills equally in order to speak English fluently.

It is necessary to gain all of them, as they are related to
each other.

Thirdly, using only one book to improve speaking skills
is not the right method. It is advisable for the teacher
to use different sources. These sources can be books
and textbooks, newspapers and magazines, and social
network pages such as Instagram and Facebook. In
particular, authentic materials expand the scope of
students' knowledge.

Fourthly, students may have difficulties in the
pronunciation part of speaking skills, especially if they
are technical specialists. It is clear that linguistics and
technics are no related to each other in most spheres
of life. In these cases, the pedagogue should guide
them correctly, give scientific advice taking into
account the achievements and shortcomings of each
student.

They

should

recommend

electronic

dictionaries (Oxford, Cambridge) that contain official
English pronunciation standards so that they can
follow the pronunciation standards correctly, because
there are millions of dictionaries related to the English
language, not all of which conform to formal English
standards.

Fifthly, it is important for the pedagogue-teacher to
choose a suitable topic based on their areas of
expertise, because it is much easier for the student to
communicate about the topics they know.

Sixth, teaching of pedagogue-teacher with a student
one or two times a week in the lesson schedule is
insufficient. First of all, not all students have time to
express their thoughts orally in the given 80-minute
lesson, and secondly, the vocabulary of the given topic
may be insufficient in speaking skills of the student and
until they have formed the necessary vocabulary and
are ready for oral speech, the lesson may end. The third
problem is that some students are unable to express
themselves in front of everyone because of their
subconscious concept of "I'm not ready yet", when in
reality they are just thinking this way and putting their
minds to it, they give such an order. Unfortunately, this
is the case with most non-native English students.

Well, as a non-specialist, if students of technical higher
education do not have enough knowledge, if there are
shortcomings in pronunciation, if the pedagogue does
not have the time and opportunity to deal with each
student face to face, then wiki-technologies are
available. Wiki-technologies are taken from Hawaiians
and are translated as "quick devices" in the language)
it's time to use them. However, it is important that
these devices are used during class, not outside of
class.

RESULTS

In recent days, the use of technology and related
words in the field of education and the introduction of

technology into the educational process have had a
significant impact on the speed and quality of
education system. Due to modern technologies, the
educational process and sphere has expanded, the use
of world experiences in the process of scientific
research, the process of mutual exchange of ideas of
pedagogues from foreign countries, especially Eastern
and Western countries, the organization of
international conferences and the latest pedagogical
theories in social networks and the placement of
pictures and videos depicting their practical results,
and the placement of the most necessary methodical
articles

unprecedented and unexpected phenomenon. As a
result of exchanges of opinions, teaching techniques
of pedagogues-teachers, which are expected to meet
quality and educational standards, methodical manuals
to facilitate the learning process of pupils and students
were presented to the general public and for young

Below are some methods of using wiki-technologies
during the lesson in order to improve speaking skills of
technical higher education students.

Hangout, and Facetime applications, which are

recent times. Conversations with English-speaking
technical specialists in classrooms adapted for foreign
language teaching through projector equipment will

certainly not fail to have a positive effect on the
students of the technical higher education institution.
Through these zoom platforms, the student not only
learns speaking skills and pronunciation standards, but
also changes from introversion to extroversion,
develops interest in speaking, and learns to overcome
emotions that arise during the speech process.

- in addition, introducing the Duolingo app to students
can be an important way to develop English speaking
skills. Its advantages are many, and the pedagogue-
teacher and students can use it during the lesson and
enjoy the gamebased learning system. Students will
find it useful and motivating. Also, with the help of this
application, English can be learned individually, in pairs
or in cooperation with many learners. In particular, the
speaking lessons uploaded to the duolingo application
are simple and short, and do not take much time to use
or watch during the lesson.

- most pedagogues do not set a time limit for the
development of students' speaking skills, they
encourage them to speak freely and feel at ease. Of
course, this is a good method, but it is not without
benefits to follow the rules of time in order for the
student's speech to be more perfect and fluent. In
particular, speech development videos uploaded to
the YouTube platform make the teacher much more
comfortable during the lesson, and the teacher pays
more attention to the achievements and shortcomings
of the student's speech, rather than to timer.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, speaking skills is a somewhat debatable
topic among linguistic skills, and decades ago many
learners struggled to master it, but modern
technology, particularly wiki -technology has made this
