Abstract:
As a result of a detailed analysis of scientific sources, it was concluded that the terms "competence" and
“communication competence” are often interpreted similarly, have many commonalities, but the concept of
"competence" has a broader meaning. In this dissertation research, the term "competence" is considered as a set
of knowledge, skills, competences and personal motives aimed at solving standard and non-standard theoretical
and practical problems within any activity. By competence we mean that a person has the appropriate powers;
this is a systematic unit of the level of knowledge, experience, behavioral skills and ability to act that fully
corresponds to the requirements of a certain professional activity.
Keywords:
Communication skills, English language.
Introduction:
Today, the topic that is being discussed
all over the world is the question of the basic
competencies of a person. This problem is especially
relevant now in connection with the modernization of
education. The planned expected learning outcomes
reflect a combination of core, subject and
interdisciplinary competencies.
Basic competences are understood as abilities that
determine the student's readiness to combine
knowledge and practical skills to make effective
decisions, taking into account moral and ethical
standards. Such competencies create conditions for the
development of values, motives, assimilation of social
and behavioral norms. These include:
• information competence,
• ability to solve problems,
• communicative competence.
Today, communication is especially important as the
ability to get your point across clearly and convincingly.
The general explanatory dictionary of the English
language gives the following definition of the term:
communication (Latin communicatio - communico - I
make it common, connect, communicate) -
communication, transfer of information from person to
person - a specific form of interaction. cognitive and
labor processes of people are mainly implemented with
the help of language [5].
When all the usual channels of perception are absent,
only speech remains for us - the basis of any practical
and mental activity. Now it is impossible to stay
successful without the ability to clearly develop your
own thinking, because it is the key to getting
agreement and results.
Researchers V.I. Teslenko and S.V. Latintsev defines
communication as the interaction of subjects in the
process of exchanging information and establishing
interpersonal relationships, as well as full cooperation
[4].
The communication process has its own characteristics.
Communication as a form of social communication is
always appropriate. This purpose is to transmit and
receive information in the process of speech activity.
Communication is based on the implementation of
communicative actions (the smallest unit of speech
interaction of speakers) through speech actions and
speech operations [4].
Communicative competence can be considered the
most important indicator of
professional skills of future engineers in Uzbek
language schools. This was done by local researcher V.I.
Andriyanov shows that the main goal of teaching
English in the Uzbek school is communicative (being
able to communicate in accordance with the

communication situation). It follows that th This is the

education (intellectual and professional) of the

critical thinking, discussion of the propositions, action

Being the physical state of a person's communicative
competence, it should be considered that it is different
from the theory of language competence of the
American linguist mentioned above by American
ethnolinguist Dell Hymes [1] in 1972. N. Chomsky [2].
N. Chomsky's theory was basically the production of
what he considered ideal listeners in a homogenous
language environment, i.e. speaking the language at
the highest level and observation of memory, attention

the skills of the speaker to be considered in the
communicative process. He noted that the sentence is
grammatically correct, but at the same time, it is
possible for him to use it in a communicative situation
that is inappropriate for them. Thus, D. Haims defines
the personality of "communicative competence" as the
knowledge of individual lexical units and the correct
development and construction of sentences, as well as

Dell Hymes identified seven main features of language,
each of which is designed to solve specific problems.
1. instrumental function. This function consists in using
language to satisfy material needs.
2. regulatory function. Here, language is perceived as a
way to control the behavior of other people.
3. interactive feature. This function is the use of
language for people to interact with each other.
4. personal function. Language is necessary to express
one's thoughts and feelings.
5. heuristic function. Language is used to learn and
understand the world.
6. Imagination (figurative) function. This function
defines language as a way of creating a world of
imagination, fantasy.
7. Representational function, which is the use of
language to convey information.
From the point of view of D. Himes, the formation of
communicative skills is manifested in a high level of
knowledge of language tools that cover all the above
functions of language.
Many modern researchers also reflect the problems of
developing
and
developing
communicative
competence in their work. Scientists raise questions
about what it means to be fluent in a language and
what methods and methods can be used to contribute
to the development and improvement of students'
communicative competence.
Turning to the topic of communicative competence,
the researcher in "New Dictionary of Methodological
Terms and Concepts" E.G. Azimov and A.N. Shchukin
determined that communicative competence is a
person's ability to solve actual problems of
communication in various spheres of life with the help
of a foreign language [3]. Acquiring this competence
means the ability to effectively use language and
speech facts to achieve communicative goals.
