Introduction:

The formation of national identity

competencies in the educational environment of New
Uzbekistan is one of the most important directions in
the transformation of the country's education system.
National identity refers to activities carried out with the
aim of forming respect for the historical, cultural and
moral values of one's people, as well as building and
strengthening a strong national identity in young
people. The role of the education system, teachers,
students and society in the formation of this
competency is significant.

The main pillar of New Uzbekistan will be knowledge,
education and upbringing. This was stated by Shavkat
Mirziyoyev, the candidate for the presidency of
Uzbekistan from UzLiDeP, in his election program. [1].
We consider our healthy and well-developed youth to
be the decisive force in building New Uzbekistan.

To this end, we will also create a new system for
realizing their potential in knowledge, culture, art and
sports, and encouraging entrepreneurial activity. I
repeat again and again: the main pillar of the new
Uzbekistan will be knowledge, education and
upbringing! The activity of our youth, their concern for
the fate and development of our Motherland, their

great hope and confidence in tomorrow, give us all
pride and honor. We often say that today's Uzbekistan

is not еsterday's Uzbekistan. We see proof of this, first

of all, in the face of our youth, in their achievements
and victories. My dear children, be sure of one thing:
from now on, we will certainly create all the conditions
and opportunities for you to realize your abilities and

talents,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

We talk a lot about the awareness of national

identity. But I am tormented by the feeling of whether
we are worthy of it,

said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

What great things our ancestors accomplished in
difficult conditions, with hard work and dedication. Our
great grandfathers were not repressed for nothing.
Because they knew that knowledge, pride, and
statehood are in our blood. The voices of all our great
scholars are heard here [2].

A number of scientists, educators, and public figures in
the education system of Uzbekistan have been actively
working on the formation of competencies for the
awareness of national identity. Specialists working in
this area have developed theoretical and practical
aspects of the awareness of national identity, and have
helped students to develop developed various

pedagogical methods and approaches to develop
national identity, appreciation of national values, and
responsible citizenship in society.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev plays an important role in
implementing programs for the education system to
develop national identity. Based on his views on
education, the following are recommended for the
formation of national identity competencies:

• National values: The education system of Uzbekistan

focuses on promoting national values among young
people and helping them develop their identity.

• Pedagogical reforms: Reforms b

eing implemented to

improve the quality of the education system, improve
the skills of teachers, and teach students various forms
of national identity.

Literature review

There are also many pedagogical scientists who have
developed scientific research and methodological
approaches aimed at forming national identity
competencies. Khalilov Shavkat: Studied the role and
importance of identity in national education and
pedagogical processes and developed methodological
recommendations for the development of national
identity. Yusufova Gulchehra: Developed programs
aimed at teaching values in national education,
instilling culture and history in the minds of young
people,

and

through

them,

developing

an

understanding of national identity. Usmanov Akram:
Conducted scientific research on the understanding of
national identity, pedagogical and psychological
approaches to educating Uzbek youth.

The Ministry of Education of Uzbekistan, as well as
various pedagogical schools, have implemented many
initiatives aimed at building national identity
competencies. These initiatives include:

• Development of national educational programs:

Creating new educational programs in Uzbekistan that
teach national values, history, and culture.

• National and historical textbooks: Devel

oping new

textbooks and manuals to support the understanding
of national identity.

• Teaching students about cultural and historical

heritage: Implementing pedagogical programs that
guide students to understand and appreciate their
national values.

The role of public and state figures in promoting
national identity is also important. They have made a
significant contribution to educating young people in
the spirit of respect for national values and culture. In
particular, the first President of the Republic of
Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, paid special attention to the
development of national identity, the idea of

independence among young people, and the formation
of national education. His theoretical views have
become one of the main principles of the education
system.

Uzbekistan's work on the formation of national identity
competencies has also been carried out in cooperation
with

international

organizations.

International

organizations, including: United Nations (UN): UN
educational organizations and social programs support
scientific and practical approaches aimed at national
identity. SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) and
OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation): Participated
in the implementation of programs to strengthen
international cooperation in the development of
education, study national values and culture.

Not only scientific and pedagogical specialists, but also
heads of state, international organizations and public
figures played an important role in the formation of
national identity competencies. The Uzbek education
system is undergoing many reforms and research
aimed at teaching national values and developing
students' sense of identity. Work in this area allows
students to receive not only scientific knowledge, but
also important components of national identity.

Content. The coherence of educational content with
national values means ensuring the inextricable
connection of the educational system with the
historical, cultural, moral and religious values of its
people. Such coherence is based on the goals and
objectives of the educational process, and also allows
education to be directed not only at imparting
knowledge, but also at developing in the younger
generation a sense of national identity, appreciation of
culture, and social responsibility in society [3].

Let us consider the following aspects of how the
harmony of educational content with national values
can be formed:

When national values are included in the education
system, students should be given in-depth information
about the historical achievements, culture and values
of their people. This is done in the following areas:

Study of the rich history of Uzbekistan, its path to
independence, friendship between peoples and all
historical periods. This provides an understanding not
only of historical facts, but also of the role of national
heroes in preserving the national spirit, values and
culture. Studying classical and modern works of Uzbek
literature forms love and appreciation for national
culture, values and language. Studying national
holidays, cultural events, folk art, architecture and
unique traditions in education. Learning, loving and
preserving one's native language is very important in
understanding national values. Explain the richness of

the Uzbek language and its connection with culture,
learn to appreciate the language. Understand the
importance of the national language, its aesthetic
beauty through national literature, poetry and folk art.

Moral values also play a special role in understanding
national identity. This is aimed at teaching students
such universal moral concepts as respect for one's own
identity, service to society, honesty, sincerity, justice,
goodness through the education system. Educate
young people on the basis of national values, instill a
sense of respect and responsibility among them. If
there are religious traditions in the country, it is also
necessary to respect these values and take them into
account in the education system. In this, education
contributes to the overall development of culture,
ethics and society.

The content of education should help to understand
the richness and uniqueness of national culture.

Educating

students

through

new

textbooks,

methodological manuals, and multimedia resources,
taking into account national values. An educational
process in harmony with national values prepares
young people as active and responsible citizens in
society. This is carried out in the following areas:

• Projects and events: Organizing various social and

cultural events for students based on national values,
through which they can understand their national
identity and find their place in society.

• Generosity and social assistance: Encouraging young

people to participate in volunteer activities and help
society.

It is important to use modern methods in introducing
national values into the education system:

• Interactive methods: Group work, discussions,

projects, simulation games, and other interactive
methods to teach students national values in practice.

• Use of technologies: Providing informatio

n about

national values and culture through digital resources,
video materials, and multimedia technologies.

The harmony of educational content with national
values, on the one hand, helps students to deeply study
the history, culture and values of their people, and on
the other hand, prepares them to find their place in
modern society and be successful in the global arena.
This harmony not only develops national identity, but
also strengthens spirituality and moral values in
society.

RESULTS

The harmony of educational content with national
values is important in forming a sense of national
identity in the education system of the new Uzbekistan.

To achieve this goal:

• Historical and cultural lessons: Studying the rich

history, culture, literature and traditions of Uzbekistan.

• Incorporating the importance of national values and

traditions into educational programs: Through this,
young people learn to be proud of their origin, history
and culture.

• Covering national heroes and events in education:

Providing information about individuals and events in
the process of Uzbekistan gaining independence.

Interactive and innovative teaching methods should be
used in the formation of national identity. These
include:

• Problem

-based learning: Directing students to solve

problems that help them understand their identity and
find their place in society.

• Modernization of te

xtbooks and educational

materials: Creating digital resources and educational
applications to familiarize students with national
history, culture, and moral values.

• Experiential learning: Applying national values and

identity in the educational process, for example,
project work, social events, cultural events.

Teachers play an important role in the formation of
national identity competence. Teachers explain the
history and culture of Uzbekistan to students and
develop their national consciousness. In the
educational process, convey to students the ideas of
being useful to society and serving national interests.
Using new methods in education, orienting students to
the awareness of national identity.

National identity is manifested not only in the process
of obtaining information, but also in the internal
development of the individual. Education system:

• Psychological preparation of students for the

awareness

of

national

identity:

Introducing

psychological methods and exercises that help students
understand their identity, national values, and their
place in society.

• Educational education: Teaching students to

recognize the importance of moral values in the
awareness of identity, respect, justice, and effective
work in society.

The role of national identity in finding its place in the
global arena is of particular importance. Explaining to
students the importance of broadening their
worldview, but remaining faithful to their national
values.

Studying methods aimed at the awareness of national
identity in the education systems of other countries
and adapting them to the conditions of Uzbekistan.

In the formation of national identity, it is necessary to
encourage young people to actively participate in
society. For this: social projects: involving young people
in participating in various social projects to find their
place in society, cultural events: holding cultural events
and festivals that develop national identity, through
which young people will learn more about the culture
and values of their people. Encouraging young people
to actively participate in society is very important in the
understanding and formation of national identity. This
process ensures that young people connect with their
culture, history and traditions, and understand
themselves as part of society. Helping young people
understand their nationality by providing more
information about national values, history and culture.
In this process, classes aimed at increasing national
spirituality can be held in schools and higher
educational institutions. Involving young people in
social, cultural and political processes in society. This
means, for example, volunteering, participating in
various social organizations, or playing an active role in
state and public affairs. This strengthens the sense of
responsibility of young people. Young people should
learn to respect their ethnicity, language, culture, and
traditions. It is important to preserve national heritage,
study history, and pass it on to the younger generation.
Celebrating national holidays and dates instills respect
and love for their culture in young people. This creates
an opportunity for them to realize that they are an
integral part of society. Encouraging young people to
actively participate in social networks that promote
national identity. This provides an opportunity to share
their nationality and culture with a wide audience.[4].

By involving young people in such activities, it is
possible to increase their responsibility towards society
and further strengthen national identity.

The interaction between students and teachers plays a
special role in the formation of national identity
competence. They create opportunities for students to
freely express their opinions and express their views on

national values. Discussion and debate: Conducting
regular discussions and debates with students on issues
of national identity, thereby expanding their horizons
of thinking.

CONCLUSION

The formation of national identity competencies in the
new Uzbek education system is a comprehensive and
multifaceted process, which includes activities ranging
from in-depth study of national values, history and
culture to the psychological, moral and social
development of students. For the successful
implementation of this process, innovative teaching
methods, mutual cooperation between teachers and
students, as well as the modernization of national
values, are necessary.
