LABOR PROTECTION AND TECHNICAL SAFETY IN MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS
Annotation:
This article covers current issues of ensuring the safety of labor protection and
equipment in medical institutions. The main risk factors found in the activities of medical
personnel, measures to prevent them, are analyzed on the basis of existing legislation and
practical experience. Modern approaches to technical safety, preventive measures and proposals
aimed at protecting employees are presented. The article is aimed at medical professionals,
security engineers and field students.
Keywords:
Labor protection, technical safety, medical institution, risk factors, protective
equipment, medical worker, sanitary and hygienic, preventive, legislation of Uzbekistan.
Introduction:
Medical institutions are important organizations that serve to restore and maintain human health.
Employees operating in such facilities — doctors, nurses and other technicians — work in high-
risk conditions in a permanent manner. Infections, chemicals, cutting tools, ionizing rays and
other risk factors can negatively affect their health. Therefore, it is necessary to have a system of
labor protection and technical safety in medical institutions, strict observance. This article will
cover the basic principles of labor protection and technical safety in medical institutions, current
problems and methods of their elimination.
Style:
When preparing the article, we relied on the following methods:
- The Labor Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the law "on labor protection"were analyzed.
- Regulatory documents of the Ministry of Health were studied about the system of practical
labor security in medical institutions.
- Scientific articles and monographs (G.F. Gulyamov "safety measures in medicine", R.M.
Ahmedov” safety of medical equipment") was analyzed.
- Practical experience and statistics were used.
Results :
Based on the analyzes carried out and the available literature, the following main aspects were
identified:
1. The labor protection system is organized in 4 main directions in medical institutions:
- Protection against infection risks
- Biological safety

- Safety when working with chemical and radioactive substances
- Protection against physical risk factors (electric current, cutting tools, X-rays, etc.k.)
2. The main sources of risk for medical personnel:
- Acute medical devices (syringe, scalpel, needle)
- Direct contact with infectious patients
- Chemical disinfectants
- Laboratory equipment and X-ray apparatus
3. Technical safety measures:
- Each employee passes the technical safety instruction.
- Special protective equipment: gloves, mask, protective glasses, overalls are provided.
- Disinfection and sterilization regimes are followed.
- Electrical equipment is subject to regular technical inspection.
4. According to statistics, the incidence of health loss has decreased by 15-20% in recent years as
a result of non-compliance with safety regulations developed in medical institutions (according
to the report of the Uzbek SSV, 2023).
Debate:
Analysis shows that ensuring labor security in medical institutions guarantees not only the health
of employees, but also the safety of patients. In many cases, the risk of infection increases due to
the fact that doctors or nurses do not follow simple sanitary and hygienic rules. For example, the
absence or misuse of personal protective equipment in cases of needle pricking or contact with
blood causes transmission of infectious diseases (hepatitis B, C, AIDS).
As for the safety of equipment, along with the increase in modern medical equipment in this
regard, the need for proper use and maintenance has increased. Mistakes made by unskilled
employees pose a threat to the life of not only the patient, but also the employee.
To ensure the safety of equipment in a medical institution:
- Conduct preventive security controls every month;
- The transfer of re-directives for employees every quarter;
- To work with medical equipment, it is recommended that specialists with a separate certificate
be involved.
Conclusions and suggestions:
The problems of labor protection and technical safety in medical institutions are still relevant.
The above analysis shows that:

- The main condition for Labor security — constant updating of knowledge and qualifications of
employees;
- Technical safety-depends not only on the technique, but also on the level of responsibility of
employees;
- On the basis of existing law and regulatory documents, it is necessary to develop strict labor
security procedures and strengthen executive control.
Suggestions:
1. Establishing an internal security audit system in medical institutions;
2. Conduct security seminars every quarter;
3. Organization of practical safety training using modern simulators.
