Writing is one of the fundamental skills taught in schools. What starts with the introduction of
the English language to alphabets and numbers advances to sentence formation, grammar,
vocabulary, etc. It is that each student should acquire writing skills. It is a form of
communication that is necessary for education as well as for any profession.
Even though
writing and reading are taught as basic abilities in the classroom, their application is vital even
after formal schooling ends. Since most industries now regard professional writing
communication as a necessary ability, living in the digital age has only increased the value of
literacy.
Learning English writing skills in school can go a long way for students. This globally acquired
form of communication is also an efficient job skill that one must possess. Irrespective of what
field one chooses, they are required to use their writing skills to convey their thoughts.
The ability to express ideas in writing is one of the most important of all skills. Good writing is
a mark of an educated person and, perhaps for that reason, it is one of the most important skills
sought by employers and higher education institutions. Developing our learners as writers is
more than just asking them to remember tricky spellings, handwriting joins or grammatical
constructs. It is a process, which is intricate and complicated, but if done consistently and
thoroughly, gives learners a tool, which is vital for their school years, across all subjects and in
life after education. Writing makes learners’ thinking and learning visible. It provides them
with the opportunity to clarify and refine their ideas for others and to themselves.
Writing Skills Improve Communication Skills. Proficiency in written communication is a
necessary skill for most school subjects whether doing a lab report or composing an essay.
Teaching the mind to think through writing will also help prepare your children for entrance
exams, standardized tests, personal essays for applications, and more. Most importantly, writing
skills will give your child confidence to excel in their academic interests. A love of writing will
foster a love of learning throughout life. Furthermore, if your child has an interest in science

and technology, for example, writing and reading skills will make these concepts more
accessible. Language proficiency makes learning other subjects easier because the materials are
more comprehensible. Students are also able to demonstrate their comprehension of complex
concepts with greater ease if they have practiced their writing skills. When we think about the
skills most important to develop in young children, a love of reading and writing are always at
the. forefront. A child with a book or pencil in her hands is a child with a bright future in front
of her.
Reading and writing may be looked at as fundamental skills within the classroom, but their use
remains essential long after one’s formal education ends. Living in the digital age has made
literacy even more important, as communicating professionally via writing is an important skill
in most workplaces. While there are countless benefits to having strong writing skills, the
benefit of teaching students these skills from an early age are mostly on academic success
across the curriculum. Study after study suggests that students who are able to master writing
skills early on struggle less in overall literacy and communicating. Aside from simply helping
students to write their letters and learn their name, students at this earliest level of Elementary
education ought to be learning how to plan their writing by picking ideas, organizing their notes
into a logical sequences, and then being able to take that idea and write it down with detail and
elaboration so they can convey their concept via written communication. As students age, the
outlining of events, the quality of detail, and eventually the strategies that they use to develop a
sentence and convey their ideas should also develop, so that by the time they are graduating and
entering the workforce students are able to convey their meaning and ideas competently and
accurately to potential employers.
The Importance of Writing Skills. Based on the explanation, it can be concluded that the
importance of writing skills is as follows.
- First, writing skills are a productive and expressive activity.
- Second, writing skills are important because they support student performance.
- Third, the importance of writing skills for students is because writing is a complex activity.
CONCLUSION
The aim of the thesis is to explore teaching writing to primary school learners on both
theoretical and practical levels. The theoretical part summarizes the main psychological and
didactic principles relevant to the topic. The most interesting question that is dealt with in the
thesis is whether creative writing is suitable for young learners. Having assessed the results of
the experiment with creating magazines, it can be claimed now that the benefits (the enthusiasm
brought to the lesson) predominate over the disadvantages (the consumption of time, the use of
mother tongue). An analysis of mistakes is also made in the creative writing experiment, from
which follows that only a few mistakes causing incomprehensibility of the texts were made.
Thus, young learners are proved able to produce clear, meaningful texts of their own.
