METHODS OF TEACHING ENGLISH TO PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN THE
DIGITAL EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT

Abstract:
This article discusses the methodology of teaching English to primary school students
in a digital educational environment. By using modern digital technologies, the goal is to develop
students' linguistic abilities and arouse their interest in learning a foreign language. The article
also discusses the role of visual materials and gamification technologies, as well as the importance
of developing learning motivation in the learning process. The scientific significance of the article
lies in the fact that it contributes to the improvement of new methods of teaching foreign
languages in the national educational system using digital technologies. This methodology can be
widely used in the primary school teaching process and helps improve the quality of education.

Currently, the effective use of digital technologies in the field of education is of great importance.
In the modern educational process, interactive tools, online platforms and multimedia resources
are actively used to increase students' interest in lessons, improve the level of knowledge
acquisition and optimize the educational process. Learning English by primary school students
requires special approaches and methods, since children of this age have their own peculiarities of
perception, level of concentration and teaching methods. The digital educational environment
provides great opportunities, helping to make the process of learning a language more exciting
and effective. This methodological approach highlights the theoretical and practical aspects of
using digital tools in teaching English to primary school students. The article pays special
attention to the introduction of modern technologies in the educational process, the development
and application of educational strategies that correspond to the age characteristics of students.
This methodology helps to develop communication skills in English, makes the learning process
more exciting and easier. Organizing lessons using interactive and innovative methods is an
effective solution for teachers and plays an important role in improving the quality and
effectiveness of education.
Methods of teaching English in a digital educational environment for primary school students can
be as follows:
Interactive Online Lessons:
Delivering Live Lessons Using Zoom , Microsoft Platforms
Teams or Google Meet . Organize interaction with students in real time and conduct interactive
classes.
Educational platforms and apps:
Using platforms like Duolingo , Lingokids ,
ABCmouse and others designed for kids to build vocabulary. Conduct quizzes using Quizizz ,
Kahoot and Wordwall .

Gamification (learning through games):
creating or using educational games in English
to increase student interest.
Examples include games to find English words or crosswords with audio recordings.
Audio and video materials:
use of children's songs and cartoons in English through
YouTube channels .
Usage resources from British Council Kids or BBC Learning English.
Interactive learning programs:
using smart boards and digital books. Explaining new
concepts using augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies.
Portfolio and project work:
asking students to create small projects in English (e.g.
talking about toys or drawing and explaining).
Audio recording and listening:
an assignment to record your own voice to improve
pronunciation.
It is recommended to listen to short stories or fairy tales in English.
Digital Writing Exercises:
Collaborative Writing Using Google Docs or Padlet : Using
digital tools to correct and annotate text.
Features of teaching English to primary school students in a digital educational
environment:
The main features of teaching English to primary school students in a digital
educational environment are as follows:
Interactive learning:
using multimedia (video, animation, audio) for learning. Allows
students to actively participate and communicate in real time.
Flexibility:
the ability to work with educational materials at any time and in any place.
Setting up the educational process according to an individual schedule.
Gamification:
using game tasks and quizzes to motivate students. Points, rewards and
ratings system.
Personalization:
creating tasks that meet the individual needs of students.
Recommendations based on the level of students’ knowledge, provided by the teacher or the
platform.
Visual and audio materials:
use of bright graphics, video and audio materials to attract
students' attention. Developing pronunciation and listening skills.
Self-assessment:
students have the opportunity to check their answers on the platform and
analyze their mistakes.
Increase motivation and interest:
Use engaging, interactive lessons and projects to
increase interest in learning.
Group work and collaboration:
completing group assignments and discussions on online
platforms.
Developing digital literacy:
Students develop skills in using digital technologies.

the ability to review and repeat learning materials to reinforce
knowledge.
Conclusion:
The digital educational environment for teaching English to primary school students is a modern
and effective approach that helps to increase students' interest and develop their motivation to
learn the language. The use of interactive technologies and multimedia materials makes the
learning process more exciting and convenient. It also promotes the development of creative
thinking, independent work skills and digital literacy in students. This approach helps to
strengthen students' knowledge and skills, and prepares them for active participation in a
globalized society. Therefore, the effective use of digital technologies helps to bring the
educational process to a new level.
