INTERACTIVE METHODS IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING

Abstract:

In the current educational process, the learner should be the subject. In this case,

paying more attention to interactive methods will increase the effectiveness of education. One of

the most important requirements for English lessons is to teach learners to think independently.

This article describes the advantages of using interactive methods in the lesson process.

Keywords:

Interactive method, KWL , Venn diagram , "Role-playing", "Problem Situation"

method, facilitator, analytical approach, guide, organizer, observer.

Introduction:

In the modern educational process, interactive teaching methods are widely used.

This, in turn, leads to high efficiency in education. It is advisable to choose teaching methods

based on the didactic task of each lesson.

Interactive method in education means mastering the educational program between the student

and the teacher. These methods help to increase the effectiveness of the lesson through

collaborative work. They encourage students to think independently. It is no exaggeration to say

that interactive means learning a given topic through mutual cooperation between the teacher and

the student, increasing the effectiveness of the lesson, developing the skills of independent

thinking, feedback, and discussion. Each student, independently and actively participating in the

set goal, tries to find an answer, thinks, writes, speaks, tries to clarify the issue through evidence

and reasons. This is stored in the memory of the participants for a long time. They can take a

critical, analytical approach to mastering new information. The teacher only acts as a facilitator

(guide, organizer, observer) in this process.

Main part:

One of the interactive methods is KWL method, that is, I know, I want to know, I

learned. This method can be used before going through any topic, that is, students divide the

notebook page into three equal parts and write I know, I want to know, and I learned at the top.

Primary school students first write down the information they know about the topic being studied.

After discussing what they have written, they fill out the second column in groups. In this

column, students write down the problems they want to know. If students encounter difficulties

in the process, the teacher helps them. After that, the new topic is explained by the teacher. In

this case, the topic is briefly covered and it is recommended to read the material independently.

After mastering the new topic, students are required to fill out the third column. The result is

discussed in the group.

The Venn diagram method

is aimed at developing an analytical approach to a topic and

clarifying its content and essence in students.

The Venn diagram method

helps to comparatively analyze the theoretical information

mastered by primary school students in the process of English language teaching. This

method is also more effective in organizing final lessons in specific sections.

The "Role-playing" method

is a method in which learners demonstrate various life

situations by acting them out.

In the “Role Playing” method, the teacher must have prior knowledge about the students.

Because the individual character and behavior of each student are important in playing

roles. The selected topics should correspond to the level of mastery of the students. Role

playing helps to form motivation in students during the learning process.

The structure of the “Role Playing” method is presented below

The purpose and objectives of the game

are explained.

A final conclusion is given.

Roles are played

Structure of the "Role Playing" Method

To use this method, the script is developed by the teacher. Sometimes, students can also be

involved in developing the script. This process helps to increase the motivation and

creative exploration of students.

Advantages of the "role-playing" method:

- develops students motivation during the learning process;

- develops interpersonal skills in students;

- teaches how to apply theoretical knowledge in practice;

-students develop the ability to analyze a given situation.

The "Problem Situation" method

is a method aimed at developing students' skills in analyzing

the causes and consequences of problem situations and finding solutions to them.

The level of complexity of the problem selected for the “Problem Situation” method should

correspond to the level of knowledge of the students. Students must be able to find a solution to

the problem, otherwise, not being able to find a solution to the problem will lead to a loss of

interest and self-confidence. When the “Problem Situation” method is used in the lesson,

students learn to think independently, analyze the causes and consequences of the problem, and

find a solution to it.

Advantages of the “Problem Situation” method:

-forms students' independent thinking skills;

-students learn to find causes, consequences, and solutions to problems;

-creates a good opportunity to assess students' knowledge and abilities;

-students learn to analyze ideas and results.

Advantages of using interactive teaching methods:

-activate all students;

-fun and interesting;

-increased motivation to learn;

-develop mental activity;

-develop the ability to work in a team;

-foster a culture of communication;

-facilitate the perception of new material;

-stimulate cognitive activity;

-increase self-esteem and satisfaction from their work.

Conclusion:

It is not difficult to see from the above-mentioned considerations that it is now

difficult to imagine the educational process without interactive methods. By using interactive

methods in education, the following results are achieved:

- students' interest and motivation in learning increases:

- students' boredom and fatigue during lessons are prevented;

- students develop creative work skills and active thinking;

- it helps to freely and openly attract new associative thoughts and imagination on the topic;

- the teacher achieves the goal set for himself.
