PEDAGOGICAL POTENTIAL AND THE ROLE OF CLUBS IN DEVELOPING
STUDENTS’ PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES

Annotation:
This article analyzes the role and importance of extracurricular activities in the
formation of students’ professional competencies from a pedagogical perspective.
Extracurricular activities are regarded as an effective tool in training specialists who meet the
requirements of the modern labor market, capable of independent thinking and creative approach.
The article highlights the components of professional competence, particularly theoretical
knowledge, practical skills, professional values, and communicative abilities, as well as the ways
of their development. Furthermore, the effectiveness of extracurricular activities organized on
the basis of interactive methods, project-based tasks, and problem situations is analyzed through
practical experience. Factors that positively influence students’ professional development —
such as motivation, responsibility, and initiative towards their chosen profession — are revealed.
In conclusion, it is emphasized that a systematic and purposeful organization of extracurricular
activities can deepen students’ professional competencies. The article has practical significance
for university teachers, methodologists, and specialists engaged in pedagogical activity.

Introduction. One of the most important tasks facing modern education today is the preparation
of professionally competitive specialists with creative approaches. As stated in the Decree of the
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan PF-60 dated January 28, 2022, until 2026, curricula and
textbooks should be fully revised on the basis of advanced foreign experience, and the
development of creativity and innovativeness in the younger generation should be defined as a
priority. Extracurricular activities play an important role in the formation and development of
students’ professional competence in the educational process. They not only help to strengthen
theoretical knowledge but also serve to develop practical skills. Another significant task of the
modern education system is to prepare specialists who are both professionally competitive and
capable of creative thinking. Extracurricular activities serve as an effective platform for putting
this task into practice. Through participation in such activities, students strengthen their
professional skills and master creative, practice-oriented approaches.
For instance, D.V. Mosunova, in her work

Decorative and Applied Arts”
, studies how engaging in decorative and applied arts develops
students’ creativity and provides methodological guidance. Such activities enhance students’
creative thinking, aesthetic taste, and interest in art.
Similarly, in the article
“Pedagogical and Psychological Features of Developing Students’
Professional Competence and Principles of Professional Approach”
, the unity of students’
general and professional development as well as principles of professional approaches are
analyzed. The integration of pedagogical and psychological approaches is emphasized as crucial
for the development of professional competence.

competence among future teachers. They conclude that the effective use of teaching methods and
innovative technologies is necessary for this process.
Sh.N. Rakhimova, a lecturer at Urgench State Pedagogical Institute, in her article
“Theoretical Foundations of Developing Students’ Research Competence”
, explores how
research competence can be theoretically formed and developed. The author emphasizes that
developing research competence is essential for fostering students’ independent thinking and
creativity.
Similarly, X. Rajabova, a lecturer at Tashkent University of Information Technologies, Fergana
branch, in her article
“The Importance of Aspects of Developing Teachers’ Professional
Competence”
, analyzes various aspects of professional competence formation. She concludes
that strengthening professional competence among teachers plays a vital role in increasing the
effectiveness of the educational process.
This research employed several scientific methods, including analytical analysis, comparative
study, observation, and generalization of experimental results. As the main sources, the works of
D.V. Mosunova on developing creative activity through decorative and applied arts, as well as
scientific articles, conference proceedings, and data from electronic libraries were utilized.
The following methods were applied in the study:
Analytical method
– to examine existing normative-legal documents, as well as foreign
and national educational practices. This approach enables a deeper analysis of pedagogical
phenomena and processes. It was applied to study academic literature, state documents (PF-60
Decree, National Development Strategy, state educational standards, and higher education
curricula), and international practices (Finland, Korea, Singapore). This method, rooted in the
works of Aristotle, J. Pestalozzi, and J. Dewey, plays an important role in understanding the
essence of the issue in modern didactics.
Experimental-research method
– aimed at studying extracurricular activities in practice
and analyzing their outcomes. This allowed for the identification of theoretical and practical
problems of the research topic and the formulation of scientifically grounded conclusions.
Survey and interview method
– through questionnaires and interviews with students,
teachers, and club leaders, effective approaches were identified by comparing local and
international educational experiences. This method revealed students’ opinions, motivations, and
attitudes towards extracurricular activities. It was based on the psychological-theoretical views
of F. Bacon, J. Piaget, A. Maslow, and K. Lewin, focusing on needs, interests, and motivations.
Content analysis
– used to evaluate the level of competencies through the analysis of
students’ projects, assignments, and creative works. This method provided a qualitative
assessment of competencies by studying the products created by students.
Modeling and design methods
– employed to develop models of extracurricular
activities directed at forming professional competencies. These models were tested and applied
to improve the educational process.
Active learning methods
– such as project work, role-playing, and practical assignments,
were used to foster competencies in a dynamic and creative environment. Through these
activities, students engaged in problem-solving, project design, and professional role-playing,
which strengthened their professional identity.

Results from these methods demonstrated that extracurricular activities foster creative
thinking, professional interest, responsibility, teamwork, and initiative among students. Creative-
oriented clubs help students express themselves freely, develop innovative solutions, and
enhance problem-solving skills.
As highlighted in Mosunova’s research, such activities significantly improve students’
aesthetic taste and creative abilities. Findings also revealed that:
Extracurricular activities develop not only practical skills but also the ability to make
independent decisions in problematic situations, foster creative thinking, and strengthen
professional competence.
Creative-oriented activities increase students’ motivation and encourage self-expression.
Curricula directed toward creativity and innovation contribute to training specialists who
meet the requirements of the modern labor market.
Thus, this study employed a set of research methods to scientifically substantiate the role of
extracurricular activities in developing students’ professional competencies and to identify
effective methodological approaches for their implementation.
Extracurricular activities, as an integral part of the modern educational process, play a key role in
the formation of professional competencies. They not only deepen students’ subject-specific
knowledge but also contribute significantly to their personal development. Analysis of
international experience shows that curricula based on creativity and practical activity enhance
students’ learning outcomes and prepare them to meet the demands of the labor market. The
pedagogical potential of extracurricular activities is particularly evident in increasing students’
personal initiative. Conducted in a creative environment, such activities not only develop
professional skills but also foster adaptability, teamwork, aesthetic taste, and responsibility.
In the context of training competitive specialists, clubs and creative workshops organized on the
basis of innovative approaches are regarded as an important factor. Therefore, the effective use
of advanced international practices is recommended.
The formation and development of students’ professional competencies has become one of the
most crucial directions of the pedagogical process. Extracurricular activities provide a non-
traditional, interactive, and practice-oriented approach, enriching academic curricula and
creating opportunities to develop competencies based on independent and creative activity.
The scientific methods applied in this research made it possible to identify, analyze, develop, and
evaluate professional competencies. Each method, with its theoretical basis, practical stages, and
outcomes, contributed to the methodological foundation of the study. The combination of these
methods allowed for a comprehensive analysis of the impact of extracurricular activities on the
development of professional competencies. In particular, observations conducted through the
experimental-research method revealed the growth of qualities such as creative thinking,
initiative, and responsibility among students.
Through extracurricular activities, students consolidate their knowledge and skills in their chosen
professional field. Creative and innovative approaches ensure the holistic development of both
personal and professional competencies. Within the framework of the

Thus, extracurricular activities play a vital role in developing students’ professional
competencies. By fostering creativity, innovation, and new approaches, they contribute to
deepening knowledge, strengthening skills, and enhancing competencies. Emphasis on this area
in the

serves to improve the quality of education and
