Abstract:

In today`s educational landscape, personalized learning has already become

one of effective and famous teaching approaches. Personalized learning is a transformative

approach in education which is designed in order to meet every student` needs. This paper is

devoted to discuss benefits of personalized learning and emphasizes contribution of it to more

effective learning experience.

Key words:

transformative approach, active participation, improved motivation, better

academic performance, flexibility, convenience, reduced pressure,

Introduction

Many traditional approaches have already become tedious and ineffective in today`s fast

changing educational context and many students have found these one-size-fits-all methods

struggling. This is because, traditional methods are mainly based on teacher-centered approaches,

associated with more teachers` styles and desires rather than learners` needs. Moreover, all

people have different interests, styles and learning paces and traditional methods cannot manage

with these differences. (Hamdan Alamri, Victoria Lowell, William Watson, and Sunnie Lee

Watson, 2020). As a solution to these problems, new teaching approach - personalized learning -

has emerged.
Personalized learning refers to instruction which customizes teaching according to every student`

interest, strength and needs. The goal of this approach is encouraging flexibility in learning

process and conducting lessons in student-centered way. Personalized learning disputes

standardized teaching models by emphasizing each learner` own strengths, weaknesses, learning

style and pace. In this teaching environment, initially, teachers try to know students` needs by

observing or interviewing them carefully and use or accommodate various methods and

techniques in order to address their needs.

Main part.
Even though there are some arguments about effectiveness of personalized learning, it

has the potential to change the education system because of its benefits since it can enhance not

only students` academic performance, but also their general well-being in several ways.

Active participation and improved motivation.

In personalized learning environment,

students start participating actively as adapting teaching process according to their` needs makes

lessons more engaging and meaning for them. Along with that, when people learn what they

want and are interested in, they tend to have strong motivation to study.

Better academic performance

. According to several studies, students who are engaged in

personalized learning atmosphere can reach more academic achievement. Because of the fact

that learners are allowed to learn at their own pace(learning takes different time from everyone,

some can understand quickly while others require more time), this teaching approach enables

students to understand materials fully before moving on next theme, resulting in deeper

comprehension which leads to enhanced academic performance.

Aimed support for difficulties.

One of the important advantages of personalized learning

is that teachers can identify students` struggling points with regular assessment and customized

teaching techniques and then address by delivering targeted support. Teachers and mentors are

considered crucial participants

in this process because its their responsibility to provide

individualized instructions to learners in order to deal with difficulties.

Flexibility and convenience

. Another main benefit of personalized learning is that it can

provide students with more flexibility and convenience because it can be customized according

to their learning environment and plans. People who have busy life style need a more adaptable

learning programs and personalized learning is the most appropriate choice for them.

Reduced pressure.

In personalized learning context, students feel more confident and less

pressured because of optimized and supportive learning settings. They are allowed to study at

their own pace and their preferences are taken into consideration therefore there is less

possibility of being stressed and overwhelmed.

Mutual understanding

. Personalized learning can develop mutual understanding among

people. When people are engaged in personalized learning, they interact with people with

different needs. It fosters them to respect and appreciate diversity among people.

Conclusion

Personalized learning has many advantages that considerably improve learners` academic

success. By customizing teaching according to students’ preferences and needs, it leads to better

engagement and academic performance, improved motivation, flexible learning, reduces pressure

and empathy. as education continues to develop, personalized learning approach will be

important in order to meet the various students` needs. If personalized learning is designed and

implemented appropriately, it has great potential to make learning process more effective.
