Clinical and labaratory characteristics of patients with COVID--19 infected with the hepatitis b virus

Туланбой Ашуров
The COVID-19 pandemic has raised concerns about its impact on various organ systems beyond the respiratory tract. Extrapulmonary manifestations, such as immune system dysregulation and hepatic injury, have been observed in COVID-19 patients. Considering the high prevalence of hepatitis В virus (HBV) infection in Uzbekistan, there is interest in studying the impact of coinfection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and HBV in patients. Coinfection refers to the presence of two or more infections in the same individual. In this case, it involves both SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19, and HBV, a virus that primarily infects the liver. Coinfection can potentially complicate the clinical course and management of patients, as it may lead to interactions between the two viruses and affect the overall disease progression.
