Synonyms (Ancient Greek:
σύν
and
ὄνυμα
- with the same name) - linguistic
units that have the same general meaning (the denotative meaning is the same), and
differ in additional (connotative) meaning (expressive, stylistic and other
characteristics that express attitudes, etc.) - words, phrases, syntactic units, and words
such as "other", "otherwise", "again", "again", "again", "again", "again", "again",
"repeated. The phenomenon of linguistic units having the same meaning is called
synonymy. Depending on the language units it belongs to, this phenomenon is
divided into lexical synonymy, phraseological synonymy, syntactic synonymy, etc. A
group of words that are synonymous with each other is called a synonymous series. A
synonymous series consists of 2 or more words. The first word in a synonymic row is
considered the head word (main word). The head word, as a rule, differs from other
words in this row by its belonging to the modern literary language, emotional
coloring, stylistic neutrality, and similar properties, and, due to the same properties, is
widely used in the language compared to others. In the synonymic row of beautiful,
beautiful, handsome.
Antonym -
(anti … and Greek onoma —
name, name)
—
language units with
opposite meanings. There are 3 types: 1) lexical A. (high
—
low, long
—
short); 2)
affix-A. (watery
—
waterless); 3) syntactic A. (face
—
face).
Antonyms (words with opposite meanings)
—
from the Greek anti
—
“opposite”, “opposite” onoma or onyma —
“name”, words that express opposite
concepts, that is, words that contradict each other in meaning are called antonyms. In
order for an antonymic pair to form, two independent concepts must be semantically
opposite to each other. The property of being-not-being in verbs does not create
antonymy. Antonyms are sometimes used in pairs to expand the meaning or express
the meaning: day and night (always). A polysemantic word can be synonymous with
certain words with each of its meanings: the word sad can be an antonym for the
word happy in one place, or hard ground - soft ground; stingy (miserly) person -
generous person. In addition, it can be an antonym for words that are synonymous
with it, such as joy, happiness. Thus, a word can be an antonym for each of the words
that make up a synonymous series: stingy - soft, generous; fast
–
slow,heavy;
beautiful - ugly, ugly, ugly. Antonym pairs can express a transferable meaning: day
and night (moved to the ravishka), bitter-sweet (moved to the horse).
Antonyms are used in artistic speech to create contrast: the good is the gift of the
bad. Antonyms should be distinguished from units such as come - do not come, go -
go, these units are participial and indivisible forms of the verb. Antonyms are
observed only within the same word classes: good - bad (noun), long - short

(adjective), many - few (adverb), came - gone (verb). The use of lexical antonyms in
our speech is of great importance in effectively expressing our thoughts. Especially in
fiction, artistic art is created on the basis of contrasting words with opposite
meanings. Such art is called the art of contrast.
