In this article , what kind of language English is, its benefits,
in which fields the English language is used today and its efficiency, opinions and
thoughts have been presented about its effectiveness. In the International
education system, special educational standards have been established for
students to learn the English language.
Key words:
Educational standards, cultural exchange, global
communication and academic success.
" On May 6, a videoconference on measures to improve the system of teaching
foreign languages was held under the chairmanship of the President Shavkat
Mirziyoyev. Annually in our country , several fields of knowledge are identified
the development of which is given a priority . This year, physics and foreign
universities through the "El-yurt Umidi" Foundation, which is five times more
than in previous years.
However, the situation of the system of teaching foreign languages in the field
does not allow us to effectively address the large-scale tasks set in this area.
Thus, there are more than 2 thousand job vacancies of a foreign language
teacher in the education system. The quality of language teaching at 1.4
thousand schools is estimated as extremely low. Only 4% of schoolteachers have
national and international language certificates. In the Khanabad and Kuvasai
towns, Zafarabad, Mirishkor, Turtkul, Sherabad and Uzun districts, there is not a
single teacher with a certificate. 49% of teachers failed the certification test.
These and other issues in the field were comprehensively analyzed at the
meeting".[1.1]
" It is time to create a new system of teaching foreign languages in our country,
which will become a solid foundation for the future. Since we set ourselves the
goal of building a competitive state, from now on the graduates of schools,
lyceums, colleges and universities must be fluent in at least two foreign

languages. This strict requirement should become the main criterion for the
work of the director of each educational institution " , Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

First and foremost, in this article , we will examine what the English language is
and it's benefits. English is a language that originated in Britain in the early
Medievel period. It is the first language of over 400million people worldwide
and is recognised as being the national language of the UK, Australia, Ireland, the
USA, Canada and New Zealand. [2]
If we look at it's benefits, there are different kind of advantages such as global
communication. English is the most widely spoken second language in the world,
making it a valuable tool for communicating with people from different
countries.Besides, it refers to the exchange of information, ideas and messages
across different cultures and countries, often facilitated by shared languages,
technologies, and platforms . In the context of English, it highlights the role of
English as a universal language that bridges communication gaps, enabling
people from diverse linguistic backgrounds to interact, collaborate and
understand each other. This fosters international relationships, business,
education, and cultural exchange.
As for International standards, there is no definitive set of international
standards in education, either in terms of curriculum standards or in terms of
assessment standards. However, the existence of, and rapidly growing interest
in, international surveys such as PISA, TIMSS, and PIRLS has created and
emphasised a notion of international standards, those responsible for their
country's education system frequently look on their ranking in international
comparisons as a measure of how well their systems are performing.
Cambridge has designed curricula for use worldwide for ages 5-19and our
assessments at Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint, Cambridge IGCS and
Cambridge Advanced are designed to measure progress and achievement
against these curricula.
The emphasis of the Cambridge curriculum is on offering a consistent approach
to learning while allowing the opportunity for school leaders to tailor their
teaching to take account of local circumstances. In education, the concept of
standards includes both the description of what is to be learned and taught and
the results of assessment. Educational assessments measure the extent to which
learners have acquired knowledge, skills and understanding in a particular field,
together with their ability to apply what they have learned. The outcome of an
assessment may be reported as a pass or fail. When the outcome of an

assessment is pass or fail, for example with a driving test, a pass result indicates
that the learner has reached the minimum standard required to be regarded as
competent but it does not indicate whether or not they have excelled as a driver.
When results are reported as grades, each grade indicates how well the learner
has shown mastery of the required knowledge, skills, and understanding and
how well they have shown they can apply them, the higher standard. [2]
Nowadays, the English language is used as a common language for
communication between people from different native language backgrounds.
Some of the key areas where English is predominantly used include: business
and commerce, technology and science, education, entertainment, and media,
travel and tourism. One of the most well-known area is cultural exchange.
Because it refers to the process in which people from various cultures share,
learn and experience each other's traditions, ideas, values , art and ways of life. It
promotes mutual understanding, respect and appreciation between different
cultural groups. Overall, cultural exchange fosters global understanding,
enriches societies and helps break down misconceptions leading to a more
interconnected and harmonious world.
Moreover, the English language plays a crucial role in striving for academic
success. Students may engage in cross-border academic collaborations. This
participation helps students build a global academic network, share their
research and stay updated on developments in their fields of interest as well as
gain better career opportunities.
Additionally, mastering English opens doors to a broader academic and
professional world, making it an essential skill for students aiming for success in
today's globalised society.
