THE ORIGINS OF A NEW STYLE OF THINKING IN THE LANGUAGE
OF RENAISSANCE ENGLAND

Annotation:
Annotation In this article, the author focuses on the relationship
between the formation of a new integral world view and the philosophy of language
in England (XYI century), i.e. intra-linguistic and extra-linguistic factors related to
the language and vocabulary of the basic concepts of Renaissance English
philosophy from the standpoint of theoretical premises when a new type of
intelligentsia arose: writers, scholars, and artists whose works reflect the era. The
author notes that all of this must have an impact on the official composition of the
language of the time, as well as the development and completion trends of English.

Аннотация
.
В данной статье автор акцентирует внимание на связи
формирования нового целостного мировоззрения и философии языка в
Англии
(XYI век), т.е. интралингвистические и экстралингвистические
факторы, связанные с языком и лексикой основных понятий английской
философии эпохи Возрождения с точки зрения теоретических предпосылок,
когда возник новый тип интеллигенции: писатели, ученые, художники, чьи
произведения отражают эпоху. Автор отмечает, что все это должно было
отразиться на официальном составе языка того времени, а также на
тенденциях развития и завершения английского языка.

INTRODUCTION
The Renaissance era in England, spanning from the 14th to the
17th century, was a transformative period characterized by significant cultural,
intellectual, and linguistic developments. During this time, a new style of thinking
emerged, leading to remarkable advancements in various disciplines such as
literature, philosophy, and science. This essay aims to explore the origins of this
innovative mindset in the history of the English language during the Renaissance
period. By delving into the societal and intellectual context of the time, we can
better understand the factors that contributed to the birth of this new style of
thinking.
THE RENAISSANCE INTELLECTUAL CLIMATE
The Renaissance in England witnessed a shift from the dominance of the
Church and scholasticism to a renewed focus on humanism and the pursuit of
knowledge. Intellectuals of the time sought to revive the knowledge and wisdom of
classical antiquity, particularly from ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. This
renewed interest in the classical world paved the way for a new intellectual
landscape, encouraging critical thinking, exploration, and the free exchange of ideas.
THE IMPACT OF THE PRINTING PRESS
One crucial technological advancement that played a significant role in
shaping the Renaissance era was the invention of the printing press by Johannes
Gutenberg in the mid-15th century. The printing press revolutionized the
dissemination of knowledge by making books more accessible and affordable.

This democratization of information led to an increase in literacy rates and the
spread of ideas, ultimately fostering intellectual curiosity and the development of
new ways of thinking.
THE INFLUENCE OF HUMANISM ON LANGUAGE
Humanism, a key intellectual movement of the Renaissance, emphasized
the value of human potential and individualism. Humanist scholars focused on the
study of classical languages, literature, and philosophy. This emphasis on the
classics had a profound impact on the English language, as scholars began to
explore and integrate Latin and Greek elements into their writing. This infusion
of classical vocabulary and linguistic structures expanded the richness and
expressiveness of the English language, enabling a more nuanced and
sophisticated style of thinking.
THE ROLE OF LITERATURE
Literature played a vital role in shaping the new style of thinking in
Renaissance England. As writers embraced humanist ideals, they sought to
capture the complexities of human nature, explore moral dilemmas, and challenge
societal norms. Prominent figures such as William Shakespeare, Christopher
Marlowe, and Edmund Spenser employed language as a powerful tool to depict a
wide range of emotions, philosophical ideas, and social commentaries. Their
works not only reflected the changing times but also contributed to the evolution
of the English language itself.
SCIENTIFIC ADVANCEMENTS AND LINGUISTIC INNOVATION
The Renaissance was a period of remarkable scientific progress, marked by
advancements in fields such as astronomy, physics, and medicine. The scientific
discoveries of this era challenged long-held beliefs and encouraged a more
empirical and rational approach to understanding the world. As scholars
embraced this new scientific mindset, they introduced innovative terminology
and conceptual frameworks into the English language. The emergence of a
scientific vocabulary facilitated precise expression and expanded the boundaries
of knowledge, fostering a new style of thinking grounded in observation and
experimentation.
THE IMPACT OF TRANSLATION
During the Renaissance, a significant amount of classical literature was
translated into English. This process not only introduced new ideas but also
influenced the structure and vocabulary of the English language. Translators faced the
challenge of capturing the essence of the original texts while adapting them to the
linguistic and cultural context of Renaissance England. Through this process, they
expanded the boundaries of the English language, bringing forth new modes of
expression and contributing to the development of a distinct style of thinking.
In conclusion, the origins of a new style of thinking in the language of
Renaissance England can be attributed to a combination of factors. The
intellectual climate, the impact of the printing press, the influence of humanism,
