1. Introduction

English is now used all over the world. It helps people study, find good jobs, do

business, and use technology. Because of this, many people want to learn English, even if

hard.

In Uzbekistan most students learn English at schools, but they do not use it in daily

life. This makes it difficult for them to speak or understand English naturally. Also, many
students only study English to pass exams or get certificates, not because they want to
really know the language (Derakhshan, 2015).

Teachers, find it hard to teach English in a way that is fun and effective. They need

to find better teaching methods to help students understand grammar, use vocabulary, and
develop speaking and writing skills [2.B.218-225].

2. Common Problems in Learning English

There are several reasons why students find English difficult:

Lack of practice:

[1.B.13]

Grammar differences:

English grammar is very different from languages like

Uzbek, so students get confused.

Poor native language skills:

Many students try to learn English without

understanding grammar in their own language. [2.B.33]

Focus on certificates:

Some students only learn English for exams, not to really

speak or understand it.

Teaching problems:

Some teachers may not explain grammar clearly or use old

teaching styles.

As Krashen (1982) noted, students learn better when they understand why and how

a language works. [4.B.18] But this is hard if they do not know what verbs, nouns, or other
grammar terms that they do not know well even in their own language.

3. How Teachers Can Help

To make language learning easier, teachers need to use helpful strategies. Nation and

Macalister (2010) suggest using different types of classroom activities and teaching
methods [6.B.7], such as:

Planning strategy:

Plan each lesson with clear goals.

Active strategy:

Use games, group work, and discussions to keep students

interested.

Empathy strategy:

Understand students' needs and feelings.

Practical strategy:

Use real-life examples and practice.

Communication strategy:

Encourage students to talk and write in English.

Monitoring strategy:

Give regular feedback and support.

These methods can help students become more confident and motivated. They will

also remember vocabulary and grammar better, and learn to speak more naturally.

4. Importance of Knowing the Native Language

Many students start learning English before they understand their own language well.

is in Uzbek, it will be harder to learn English grammar. Cummins (2000) says that good
skills in your first language make it easier to learn a second one. [1.B.9]

students know their language well, they learn English faster and better.

5. Conclusion
Learning a new language is never easy. But with the right support and teaching

methods, it can become easier and more enjoyable. Teachers need to understand where
students struggle and help them step-by-step. Students should also understand that
learning English is not just about getting certificates
skills for the future.

By focusing on native language skills and using helpful teaching strategies, both

teachers and students can make better progress in learning English. In the end, this will
