VIRTUAL TOURS: AN INNOVATIVE FORM OF TRAINING

Annotation. The article examines the relevance of virtual excursions within
the museum space. The author's vision of the concept of virtual excursions is given,
advantages and disadvantages, stages of creation and examples of existing
excursions are given.

The relevance of using virtual excursions is due to the fact that they allow
us to implement the main principle of the modern system of education for
schoolchildren - the principle of developmental education, as well as to obtain
visual information about places that are inaccessible for real visits.
Modern technologies open up new opportunities in teaching Russian as a
foreign language (RFL). One of the innovative methods is virtual excursions,
which allow students to immerse themselves in the Russian-language environment
without leaving the classroom or their home.
This approach is actively being researched and implemented into the
educational process, as evidenced by the works of various scientists.
With video conferencing technology, students can travel from anywhere in
the world from their living room or classroom. Imagine being able to jump into a
volcano or dig deep into the earth to dig up gems. This is just the beginning of what
you can explore.
Virtual field trips offer students and teachers a wonderful opportunity to visit
incredible places. These days, you can also travel to Mars or see what it was like
to travel the Oregon Trail in 1846. With careful guidance from a teacher working

with an online curriculum and video conferencing, the opportunities to see and
experience new things are endless.
The first virtual tours were presented on the Internet as early as 1991. They
were small sites with information about the museum itself, its geographical
location and operating hours. Later, virtual exhibitions began to appear on the
pages of virtual museums. Many museums created several virtual exhibitions and
combined them into virtual tours.
An exhibition is one of the forms of information and library services for
users, which combines traditional (book) and electronic methods of providing
information.
There are two types of virtual tours:
The first is when the guide conducts the tour from home or from a studio.
The guide conducts the tour from home, showing videos and photographs, talking
about the compositions and stands [2, 83]. Most often, these are group tours.
The second type involves a live online tour broadcast live from the museum
itself. The main advantage of a virtual tour is accessibility - the ability to view
objects at any time, the ability to repeatedly view tours and the information offered
to it, because it is better to see once than to hear a hundred times.
This method promotes the comprehensive development of language skills.
During the excursion, students practice listening skills by reading text
explanations, develop visual perception and enrich their vocabulary. Additional
tasks after the excursion help consolidate the material in oral and written speech.
Unfortunately, this type of excursion also has its disadvantages. A person
cannot ask a question in real time, it is impossible to see what is not included in the
excursion, and the impressions are limited.
Students can travel the world to distant (and sometimes fantastic) places
without having to deal with dangerous encounters. Whether it’s another planet, a
wild animal encounter, or an extreme climate, virtual field trips are safe,
convenient, and fun!
Special attention to the use of the educational potential of the virtual tour in

the Russian foreign language course will contribute to increasing positive
motivation for learning the Russian language and culture. It is concluded that the
systematic introduction of educational virtual tours into the educational process
will enrich the methodology and help build an effective educational environment.
Many world-famous sites have launched online tours, i.e. virtual excursions,
such as: Vatican Museum; British Museum, London; Louvre, Paris; Metropolitan
Museum, New York; Prado Museum, Madrid; Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam
and many others.
The use of virtual excursions in the training of future teachers of Russian as
a foreign language is an effective tool for the formation of communicative
competencies [1,61], the development of professionally oriented speech and
intercultural communication. This method helps future teachers adapt to modern
teaching requirements, develop skills in working in a digital educational
environment and improve their level of professional training.
Thus, the future of excursions may become a combination of reality and the
virtual world, where everyone can create their own route, exploring the world at
their own convenience.
