Abstract:
The article discusses the theory of translation norms, focusing on the concept
and identifying errors and challenges faced in translation. It emphasizes the importance of
ensuring quality by allowing translators to compare the translated text with the original for
necessary corrections. The analysis covers mistakes encountered during the translation of
various texts, including grammar, speech, vocabulary, and terminology, aiming to address
significant issues for readers.
Key words:
Grammatical problems, affixes, errors in oral speech, vocabularies,
terminology, syntactic models, morphological and stylistic errors, compound words.

Introduction:
Translation is vital for communication across languages and cultures, requiring a deep
understanding of grammar, syntax, cultural nuances, and context. Translators encounter
challenges that can lead to errors, including grammatical and stylistic mistakes. This paper
explores common translation errors related to grammar, affixes, word formation, and
phraseology. It analyzes how these errors affect translation quality and proposes practical
solutions to enhance accuracy, aiding translators in effectively conveying intended meanings.
Main part:
Translating requires deep knowledge of languages and content understanding. It’s more
complex than simply replacing words, as it involves context and nuance interpretation.
Grammar plays an essential role in communication, influencing all aspects of language use.
Elements such as grammatical affixes and sentence structure convey meaning. Languages
have different grammatical forms; for example, English uses plural forms that may not exist in
Uzbek or Russian. Translators also need to be aware of word order, as English follows a
subject-predicate arrangement while Russian allows for more flexibility. For instance: -I went
to school yesterday. -Вчера в школу я пойду.

Learning a foreign language today is vital and requires a strong grasp of one’s mother
tongue. Common translation mistakes often occur due to insufficient knowledge of the foreign
language. One frequent error is focusing only on the dictionary meanings of words, which can
have multiple interpretations. For example, the word “book” serves as both a noun and a verb,
leading to misuse. Additionally, morphological and stylistic errors can arise, such as
incorrectly using “has” instead of “have” for plural subjects, as in “Mr. Brown and his wife has
four children.” To enhance translation accuracy, translators should leverage all available
resources, have a deep understanding of their topics, and compile glossaries for specific
terminology. If they forget a word, they should quickly substitute it with a synonym. While
translating common phrases is usually easy, colloquial expressions can be more complex.
There are two main strategies for translating phraseological terms: direct translation of their
meaning or utilizing four identified methods for transitory compound words, which include
maintaining, partially altering, substituting with a different image, or omitting the original
image in the translation. For example: ‘’when pigs fly’’- tuyaning dumi yerga tegganda, ‘’a
skeleton in the cup’’- oila siri. The text discusses the challenges of translating phraseological
units, emphasizing the difficulty in finding equivalent expressions and the need for complete
image replacements when none exist. It highlights the importance of preserving the original
meaning and stylistic expressiveness while taking into account cultural differences. The
translation process is described as complicated and time-consuming, often leading to common
mistakes such as translating phrases word for word, which can overlook their deeper
meanings. Additionally, the text mentions that translation errors are not limited to written
work but also occur in manual translations within applications, as translators may come from
diverse backgrounds.
Conclusion:
Translation is often viewed as less challenging than it truly is, requiring strong writing,
grammar, and communication skills. A solid understanding of these skills helps minimize
misunderstandings in translated texts. Common errors stem from limited linguistic
knowledge, poor word choice, unfamiliarity with idioms, and neglect of word meanings. This
research seeks to guide aspiring translators in recognizing potential mistakes and their
reasons to improve translation quality. A significant recommendation is to use a variety of
dictionaries, particularly specialized ones, to better handle unfamiliar vocabulary.
