The play “Musical Teahouse” staged by the Fergana Regional Puppet

Theater is not only a source of laughter and pleasure, but also an important
stage work that illuminates the realities of today's life in a unique folk style. This
play was staged by S. Sedukhin, who fully demonstrated his directing and artistic
skills in this work.

The idea of the play is to reveal important socio-psychological situations in
society through laughter against the background of ordinary life events. The plot
of the play is based on events that occur in a roadside teahouse. This teahouse is
a kind of “school of life”, where people of different categories - regular guests,
passengers, tourists - gather and enrich the stage with their life views and
concepts.
The genre of the play is rich in elements of humor and satire, combining
folk oral traditions, national music, comedic dialogues, and stage actions. In
particular, the characters created by the actors have a national character and
increase the viewer's attention to life events. Sedukhin's directorial findings, in
particular, the decoration of the teahouse scene in a folk spirit, the harmony of
decorations, puppets, and live actor actions, give the play a special color.
After its staging, the play "Musical Teahouse" achieved great success not
only locally, but also on the international stage in a short time.
In particular:
– In September 2022, it won the 3rd degree Grand Prix at the 6th International
Puppet Theater Festival “Assalamu alaykum” held in Aktobe, the Republic of
Kazakhstan.
– In April 2023, at the 6th International Puppet Theater Festival “Orteke” held in
Almaty, the performance “Musical Teahouse” was recognized at the festival,
which was attended by 12 theater groups from theaters of Georgia, Turkey, the
Republic of Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
– In June 2023, at the “KUKART” International Festival held in St. Petersburg, the
Russian Federation, it was awarded the “Best Performance” nomination, with 30
theaters participating.
– In June 2024, at the III International Competition-Festival “Perekryostok” held
in Novosibirsk, Russian Federation, he won the nominations “Master Puppet. For
Preservation of Traditional Forms” and “Children's Choice”.
– In September 2024, he won the audience's applause at the International
Festival “In the Name of Zhlezkina” held in Mytishchi, Russia.

– In November 2024, he won the Grand Prix in the nomination “Best Foreign
Performance” at the International Festival “29th Children and Youth
International” held in Hamdan, Islamic Republic of Iran.
In addition, the play has been shown as part of tours in neighboring
republics and various regions of Uzbekistan, and is receiving wide public
recognition.
Director Sergey Sedukhin, through a combination of folk characters, funny
scenes, live and puppet acting styles, presents the audience with a social reality
that is familiar, but always leaves a new impression. In particular, the decoration
of the teahouse environment created by him, the mise-en-scène enriched with
national elements, make the play spectacular and memorable.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the play “Musical Teahouse” is a stage work that awakens

social thought through folk laughter, appreciates national values, and is
recognized internationally. This play should be recognized as a shining example
of the high artistic level of today's puppet theater and its close connection with
the people.
The following actors and actresses participated in the play:
–In the role of the Teahouse Owner: Shukhrat Toshtemirov
–Puppeteers: Shokirkhodja Ahmedov, Dildora Turdiyeva, Zilola Boltaboyeva,
Jaloldin Farkhidinov, Nodir Abzamov .
Director and set designer: Sergey Sedukhin
The music for the play was chosen by Alisher Gafurov

This team of actors breathed life into the play and managed to portray each

character in a lifelike and believable way. In particular, the image of the
Teahouse Owner performed by Shukhrat Toshtemirov leaves a warm
impression on the audience. The puppeteers skillfully combined live and puppet
images.

Director Sergey Sedukhin brought the performance to artistic and dramatic

perfection, endowing it with rich national stage decorations, life-like mise-en-
scènes and a unique traditional satirical tone. His aesthetic approach to
decorations, choice of characters and general directing principles serve as a high
example of modern puppet theater art.
