STRENGTHENING STUDENTS’ CREATIVE THINKING THROUGH
HEURISTIC APPROACHES AND INTERACTIVE STRATEGIES

Abstract.
The article explores the issue of developing creativity in school
education, particularly in the work of native language and literature teachers, as
well as methodological approaches that ensure the active participation of both
teachers and students in this process. The main aim of the study is to analyze the
process of fostering creativity among teachers and students of native language
and literature through heuristic and interactive teaching technologies, and to
identify opportunities for their effective application in school settings. The
primary method used is the analysis of scientific and pedagogical literature, as
well as the generalization and comparison of existing practices. The article
provides a detailed discussion of the role of creativity in the activities of teachers
and students when teaching native language and literature, the conditions for its
formation and development, and the pedagogical techniques for transforming
the classroom environment into a creative space.

Аннотация.
В статье освещается вопрос развития креативности в
школьном образовании, особенно в деятельности учителей родного языка
и литературы, а также методические подходы, обеспечивающие активное
участие учителя и учащихся в этом процессе. Основная цель исследования
– проанализировать процесс развития креативности у учителей и
учеников родного языка и литературы с помощью эвристических и
интерактивных технологий обучения, определить возможности их
эффективного применения в школьных условиях. Основной метод работы
– анализ научно-педагогической литературы, обобщение и сопоставление
существующего опыта. В статье подробно рассматривается роль
креативности в деятельности учителя и ученика при преподавании
родного языка и литературы, условия её формирования и развития, а
также педагогические приёмы превращения учебной среды в креативное
пространство.

yondashuvlar yoritilgan. Tadqiqotning asosiy maqsadi –

o‘qitish texnologiyalari yordamida ona tili va adabiyot o‘qituvchilari va
o‘quvchilarida kreativlikni rivojlantirish jarayonini tahlil qilish

o‘rni, uni shakllantirish va rivojlantirish shartlari, shuningdek, sinf muhitini
kreativ makonga aylantirishning pedagogik usullari batafsil yoritilgan.

Introduction.
In today’s school education, traditional, that is,
reproductive
(repetitive)
methods are still widely used. However, reliance solely on “passive” methods
aimed merely at delivering information limits students’ activity and diminishes
their need for creative thinking and the search for innovative approaches [4].
School practice demonstrates that some students remain passive during the
learning process and avoid making independent decisions. Especially when
conformity – the tendency to rely on pre-set patterns – strengthens, they
struggle to think independently in unusual situations. Therefore, one of the main
tasks for school teachers is to foster independent thinking, the ability to make
appropriate decisions in unexpected situations, and the readiness to test new
ideas through creative pedagogical approaches. This requires the extensive
integration of interactive methods, creative tasks, and modern technologies into
the classroom process.
Creativity is understood as the sensitivity to new ideas, the ability to
embrace them, and the capacity to find ever-new solutions. Encouraging
creativity in schools can be achieved through question-and-answer sessions,
open-ended tasks, and motivating students to make independent decisions [1].
Creativity is an integral part of any innovative process, as innovation cannot
exist without creative thinking. Today, the development of creativity is being

studied not only from a psychological perspective but also from an educational-
methodological one. This is particularly relevant for school teachers of native
language and literature, since these subjects demand analytical thinking,
aesthetic perception, and creative reasoning from students. When a teacher
draws on their creative potential while planning lessons and setting objectives,
the quality of education improves; otherwise, rigid templates may limit their
opportunities. For this reason, school curricula, lesson plans, and
methodological guides should be continually updated with the aim of fostering
students’ creativity.
Today’s schoolchildren actively use various modern technologies. Thus,
methods that were effective in the past may not always yield the expected
results, as technological progress fundamentally impacts the educational
process [1].
Consequently, school teachers need to be prepared to apply new strategies
and methodologies, refresh traditional methods, and reconsider assessment
criteria.
A creative teacher is someone who constantly develops their pedagogical
abilities and strives to organize lessons in innovative ways. Such a teacher not
only renews teaching methods but also seeks to better understand the needs of
students. In this process, it is essential to use only those methods and programs
that have proven effectiveness. A creative pedagogue provides opportunities for
students to express themselves freely – for example, through open-ended
questions, creative projects, or student-led discussions. Such a teacher strives to
present lessons in fresh, effective formats. A creative approach means renewing
lesson content, directing the topic toward students’ independent exploration,
and delivering information in unconventional ways [5].
The effectiveness of a teacher’s work largely depends on the social
environment in the classroom. A safe space where students can freely ask
questions, participate in discussions, and not fear making mistakes is one of the
most crucial conditions for developing creativity. Moreover, mutual respect
between teacher and student strengthens students’ self-confidence. Confidence
in one’s own abilities is indeed one of the most important characteristics of a
creative individual. Therefore, the assessment process should not focus solely on
outcomes but rather on helping students understand what they have learned.
When a student competes with themselves, striving to surpass their previous
achievements, this approach is more effective than direct competition among
peers.

Freedom of thought and expression is among the most vital factors for
cultivating creative and innovative abilities in students. Research shows that the
presence of an affective-cognitive background – an environment in which the
learner’s emotions and reasoning are harmonized – is a necessary condition for
the growth of creativity [8; 220].
Curiosity, tolerance of ambiguity, the ability to dream, and the willingness
to take risks are key components of the affective-cognitive structure that fosters
creativity. Engaging school students in observation, experimentation, asking
questions, and analyzing their surroundings is one of the most effective ways to
develop these abilities. A skilled teacher plays a decisive role in fostering
creativity by introducing students to various scientific, social, and cultural
issues. Accepting risk wisely and combining it with the exploration of new,
unconventional methods nurtures innovative approaches in students.
Furthermore, sensing and enjoying complexity is an important factor in
developing the creative potential of both school teachers and students.
Traditional methods often rely on direct knowledge transmission and rigid
structures, which limits students’ participation in innovation and idea creation.
In contrast, problem-solving and research-oriented approaches allow for the
exploration of complexity, discovery, and experimentation, engaging students
actively in the process and increasing their intrinsic motivation [9; 65].
It should also be emphasized
that the thinking structure necessary for
developing creativity requires not only the cultivation of divergent (free and
varied) thinking, but also an understanding of its weak points. When teachers
begin to value unconventional ideas, they can further develop students’ creative
abilities. After all, many discoveries and inventions started precisely with
unusual and seemingly odd questions. Therefore, it is crucial to encourage
students’ unconventional and “illogical”-seeming questions and answers. This
helps them develop the ability to think from a new perspective, compare
different viewpoints, and approach complex problems from multiple angles.
When a teacher assigns students to focus on different aspects of a problem,
both the quantity and quality of questions increase, which in turn helps to
unlock their creative potential.
The quality of questions and the methodology for developing
creativity.
The quality of questions posed by the teacher is a decisive factor in
developing creativity. Meaningful, open-ended, and engaging questions foster
flexible thinking in students and stimulate them to search for new answers.
Therefore, questions posed during lessons should not merely check for factual

knowledge, but should also compel students to engage in creative inquiry,
analysis, and synthesis.
The
educational-methodological structure for developing creativity
is
one of the most important aspects of a school teacher’s activity. Through
creative methods and strategies, a skilled educator can teach even complex or
seemingly unrelated material in a creative way, transforming the classroom into
a “creative space.” If a teacher conveys knowledge to students through
unconventional methods or innovative processes, this is regarded as a creative
method [10; 533].
Thus, the development of creativity among school students is effectively
achieved through
heuristic and interactive learning technologies.
Heuristic
lessons are problem-oriented, research-based sessions that require a high level
of in-group communication.
To engage students in inquiry-based research activities and eliminate the
phenomenon of detachment from the learning process, the following conditions
are essential:
engaging students in exploratory learning activities based on their personal
experiences and interests;
using modern educational and methodological resources (multimedia,
interactive platforms, digital tools) in the lesson process;
applying problem-based, active, and collaborative teaching strategies;
providing opportunities for students to create subjective educational
products, analyze them, and practice self-assessment;
offering open-ended tasks with a practical orientation, whose interactive
nature ensures high levels of educational communication and activity;
implementing various forms of formative assessment (self-monitoring),
collective reflection, and self-evaluation of student outcomes.
To
assess the value of creative skills,
the teacher should focus on the
practical significance of the creativity phenomenon. Creativity is not only a
means for aesthetic and intellectual development for school students, but also
one of the most important competencies for solving real-life problems,
generating new ideas, and expressing themselves.
Creativity as the foundation of modern school education and ways to
foster it.
Creativity – the ability to create something new and meaningful – holds
unparalleled significance not only in business and entrepreneurship but also in
achieving global goals in the field of pedagogy [2, p. 94].

However, for many school teachers, this concept is still viewed as a tool
with insufficient practical value or perceived as an “uncontrollable,” “difficult to
define” abstract category. Often, the word “creativity” in people’s minds is
associated with grand, highly original ideas, major discoveries, and works of art.
While the novelty of ideas is seen as the primary factor, their practical value to
the educational process or to students frequently remains secondary [3; 3].
Yet, in school education, the essence of creativity is not merely generating
ideas but also applying them in practice and bringing them to life.
Let us highlight
effective methods for fostering creativity:
motivating students to engage in research activities;
making extensive use of independent work during the research
process;
introducing interactive methods into the learning process.
Interactivity
in the educational process is not limited to the use of
technical tools; it is understood as a process of live communication, idea
exchange, and collaborative problem-solving. This activates the connection
between teacher and student, giving learners opportunities to generate and
implement new ideas [5; 12].
In modern conditions – particularly during the pandemic – the widespread
adoption of
distance learning
has further highlighted the importance of using
interactive technologies. Therefore, within the framework of enhancing
teachers’ creativity, it is advisable to involve them in creating materials for
online platforms, designing interactive lessons, and effectively using digital
resources [1; 11].
As a result, the teacher not only organizes the learning process effectively
but is also prepared for the complex realities of modern pedagogical practice.
What is often missing in today’s school education is not ideas or creativity
itself, but the
implementation of innovation in practice
, that is, bringing ideas
to life. Thus, the primary task should not only be to develop creative thinking
among teachers and students, but also to
direct it toward real application
.
In conclusion
, creativity for a school teacher is a unique tool that opens
doors to new opportunities, helps discover distinctive approaches and solutions
in the educational process, and enables the active acceptance of advanced ideas
and their effective use to achieve goals. It not only enriches the content of the
lesson but also broadens students’ thinking horizons, motivating them to
explore, experiment, and test new ideas.

Therefore, fostering creativity in school education is not merely about using
modern methods; it is about
renewing the very content of the pedagogical
process
and ensuring the upbringing of students as free, independent, and
innovation-oriented individuals.
