The most important thing in a beauty salon is the organizational component. But still, compliance with sanitary standards is still at the top of everything. This is the point of contact between the staff and the client, so the services should be provided at the highest level. To ensure maximum safety and comfort for salon visitors, it is worthwhile to familiarize yourself with the prescribed sanitary standards and follow them strictly. The main provisions can be found below [1].

The most important thing in a beauty salon is the organizational

component. But still, compliance with sanitary standards is still at the top of
everything. This is the point of contact between the staff and the client, so the
services should be provided at the highest level. To ensure maximum safety and
comfort for salon visitors, it is worthwhile to familiarize yourself with the
prescribed sanitary standards and follow them strictly. The main provisions can
be found below [1].

First of all, it is worth remembering that the rules and regulations are

established at the legislative level and the responsibility for their observance lies
on the shoulders of the owner. This should be taken into account at the
construction and equipment stage of the institution. Hairdressing services
should be provided at an appropriate level. Salons can be located in separate
buildings and in shopping malls. It is also allowed to be located on the ground
floors of residential buildings, which can be an excellent basis for building a
customer base. The minimum height of the walls of the room should be 3.3 m. If
the salon is located in a house, then the wall should be equal to the floor height
of the selected room. In addition to the hairdressing salon, it is worth
considering the need for additional rooms for the comfort of customers: a
bathroom, a wardrobe, a pantry, a utility room, a waiting room. Salons can be
versatile and narrowly focused, serving only women or men [2,3]. It is necessary
to take into account the specifics of the work at the planning stage of the
premises. At the stage of purchasing materials for finishing works, it is worth
considering their compliance with the standards of the Ministry of Health. The
walls should be smooth, even and resistant to the effects of disinfectants. For
coloring, it is recommended to use light tones with a reflection coefficient of at
least 40%. The floor, walls, and flow in the work area should be made moisture-
resistant so that repairs do not need to be carried out annually. Each workplace
is equipped with a wall mirror with shelves, a tool cart, a hairdressing chair and
a footrest. If there is a dryer in the salon, then it is worth considering that one
dryer for 3 chairs is installed for the women's room, and one for 5 chairs for the
men's room [4]. Special furniture is required for the children's room. It is worth

noting that there are specially designed chairs for children. The optimal distance
between the workstations (chairs) in the hairdressing salon should be at least
1.8 m. The outermost chair should be placed at a distance of 70 cm from the
wall. When arranging the chairs in parallel, keep in mind that the distance
between them should be at least 3 m [5].

All necessary equipment must be installed in the salon. We are talking

about the water supply system, heating, sewerage, electricity and ventilation.
Natural light plays a special role in hairdressing. It is worth making every effort
to ensure that there is enough light inside the room. When installing windows, it
is worth considering which side is illuminated by the sun and making the most
of this factor. Do not neglect the means of protection from too active sun. In
summer, this can create discomfort for visitors and employees. An artificial
lighting source should be installed near each workplace. It is worth training the
staff to handle the equipment correctly. Wash your hands thoroughly before
each visitor so that your appearance is as neat as possible. But the instruments
must be sterile. For cleanliness and safety, the hairdresser should have several
sets of tools so as not to waste time on sterilization. The work area should be
treated daily with disinfectants. Cropped hair should be swept regularly. A clean
negligee is a necessity for the client. It is necessary to provide the craftsmen with
a sufficient number of consumables. When purchasing materials, drugs and
cosmetics, it is worth checking for a certificate of compliance with quality
standards and conclusions of the state sanitary and hygienic expertise. The tools
used by the master must be in a closed container and kept dry. If the master
does not need certain equipment, it should be stored in a utility room.
